  1. My PC got screwed again. It wasn't just that memory stick. After I pulled a different memory stick, my hard crashes 90% stopped. I was still getting crashes about once or twice a day, but this time it was giving me blue screen errors instead of solid random crashes every 15 mins - 1 hour. All my drivers are up to date, but I kept getting driver_irql_not less or equal crashes with iastora.sys as the issue or it'd be a kmode_exception crash with no driver stated. Turns out iastora is the hard drive driver. I was worried my hard drive was failing. Doesn't look like it is. What I did was manually change the driver from the installed "Intel C220 series chipset SATA AHCI Controller" driver to the "Standard SATA AHCI Controller". As far as I can tell, that Intel driver was a couple years old and I'm guessing was not communicating correctly with my motherboard. Thats my guess at least. The motherboard has had multiple firmware updates over the year, including one earlier this year but that hard drive driver was still 2 years old. The new standard driver is recent as of this year. So far so good. Its been 3 days now and not a single crash of any kind. My PC seems stable now so I'm starting to reinstall my games and maybe I'll have the time to do that server transfer of AC since I won't have to worry about my PC crashing in the middle of a FTP connection.

  3. I bought a new power tool set on saturday:

    https://slickdeals.net/f/13466749-ryobi-18-volt-one-lithium-ion-cordless-6-tool-combo-kit-with-2-1-5-ah-lithium-batteries-dual-chemistry-charger-and-bag-179?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

I checked that brickseek site and one of the home depots near me still had one in stock so I grabbed it quick. $70 off is a pretty damn good deal to me and comparable to the black friday deals last year. Most of last years BF deals for these tool sets were mostly larger combos with tools I didn't necessarily need and at a higher price, but still damn good deals. This set however has just about every tool I've been wanting except for an angle grinder. Its not brushless, but brushless tools would be more costly. That and all the brushless tool combos last black friday lacked multiple features the regular tools had like basic LED lights on the tools so you can see what you're doing.

Now that I have tools I can do repair work on my deck. Which is how my weekend went. lol. I fixed a support piece with a new 1x6. I'll replace a couple deck boards this upcoming weekend and the deck should be good enough for winter.

  4. There is nothing like random spiders coming down from the AC vent over your bed. I swear this is happened 4 times that I know of, or thought I knew of in the past 4-5 years. I'd wake up in the middle of the night, and the small illumination from my room fan would let me see a damn spider hanging in front of my face. I'd swat at it, not feel anything and go back to sleep. At fist I chalked it up to being still half asleep and maybe I was just seeing things. Then one time I woke up with a somewhat swollen red patch inside my bicep that was warm to touch all day. Then two nights ago as I put my phone on my night stand with the screen still on I saw something floating above me and I swatted it with the bed comforter. Not wanting to be bitten again, I got up, shook the bed sheets out and upon not seeing anything I went back to sleep... Yesterday I found a dead quarter sized wolf spider in the middle of the floor. I looked up a wolf spider bite and it sure enough it seems that's what bit me months ago. 🙄 Its just weird they like that particular vent. They aren't dangerous, but the bite was pretty annoying for 24 hours. Seeing as my ceiling fan blades are pretty close to the vent, it amazes me they don't get blown sideways coming down like that. I wish they'd just crawl on the wall and go somewhere else than landing on me while I sleep. -_-; Winter can't come fast enough.

  5. My computer had a heart attack yesterday morning. The freezing and rebooting that started almost a month ago from a windows update got so bad I couldn't work on the PC for longer than 15 minutes before it'd freeze again and reboot. So I set it to do a "reset" through the recovery option.. which uninstalled all my stuff but kept my personal files. Took almost 5 hours. and in the end, it froze again once yesterday and again this morning. wtf. I did a memory test and its all good. I'm about to do a full clean install but I'll have to move all my files off first. wtf. Even now I have to re-install everything, Guild Wars 2, etc.

  8. I've been working on my gutters off and on for the last 3 weeks now. I hate these f*cking things. It wouldn't have been making repairs to these if the previous owners didn't redneck the hell out of them. I'm ten feet up in the air two days ago taking a broken piece off, only to find a hidden stripped screw thats impossible to take off, so then I have to break a piece off and my repair work looks like crap because of it. -_-; It'll work, unlike what was there before, but I'm not pleased with it. When I can afford it I'll pay some company to come out and replace all the gutters.

  10. It's been a long time since I've been duped hard by Netflix. I started watching Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato last night. It said Season 1, and the preview looked awesome. I was getting really into the story, the animation was stunning, the action and music were amazing... and then it ended after episode 3. -_-; Turns out it was a movie they divided up into 3 eps. WTF. Amazon has the actual series but its subbed. I guess I'll watch it one day.

  11. I installed a complicated ceiling fan yesterday. The light fixture was cheap and held in place by the ceiling drywall. I had to take it out, cut a larger hole in the ceiling, install a ceiling fan support brace and electric box.. But the real bitch was there were 4 electric lines running to this light fixture as a full junction box. I had to cut and strip 12 stiff as hell wires, and run an additional 3 wires to the ceiling fan. Also stuff all the insulation back into the ceiling while gagging on the particulates of it all in the air.. and jam all those wires into the small ass box. In the end it all worked out. Took me 6 hours. wtf. The other ceiling fans I've done for Lady's mom took me around 2 1/2 hours. 6 hours was a pain. I'll have to do it again for my office room. Same thing, 4 sets of wires, ceiling fan bracket, etc. I bet I could trim 1 hour off that 6 hours tho now that I wont have to stop to search for random answers to things again.

  13. Since the founding of Kickstarter I've only backed one project and that was Kung Fury. XD I recently backed two more projects. A new wallet and a retro style watch.

I honestly don't get the whole "minimalist" wallet thing. I think it's pretty dumb actually. Before this fad even started it was hard enough for me to find a wallet with enough card slots to begin with. I have a debit card, drivers licenses, concealed carry permit, Social security card, health insurance card, dental insurance card, Kohl's card, and 3 credit cards (Visa, Master, Discover). Now that everywhere takes Visa I kinda wish I didn't have all 3, but there was a time Sam's club only took discover, and my master card was my first line of credit that just got upgraded to a mastercard when it was originally just a sears card. XD Anyways all in all I have 12-14 cards, and I feel like I always need them in case of an emergency. I don't carry cash, so the whole billfold that only holds 1 card... I don't know how people do it. I backed this Grip6 wallet because I've been using their belts and they're amazing. I also break belts a lot since I only use 1 for everything and I'm very active at my job. If it wasn't for the leather sleeve that increases card capacity to 14, i wouldn't have bothered. It's a cool concept. I use my debit card multiple times a day. All my cards that pay for stuff will go into the pop up slot. My lesser used cards like insurance and ID will go in the leather sleeve.

I've also reinvigorated my love for watches. I own 3 in my rotation. I've lost my love for metal bracelet watches as I always break them, and leather I ruin from sweating at my job so much. I just ordered a canvas strap to replace a leather band actually. But I also love analogue watches. I don't like pulling my phone out to look at the time, its just easier to look at my wrist. I've always had a watch since I was 14. I'll never be one of those serious watch collectors that owns $5000 watches... thats too extreme. I stay under $400. I've been looking for something retro and classy to add to my collection.. buying real vintage watches is out of the question so I found this... but its only half funded with 27 days left so It may not become a thing.

I'll never back a kickstarter game after all the shenanigans over the past couple of years, but recently I've found it to be a good source of finding things that no one else is making to my needs. I still did my research on the company/owner before backing, but hopefully I get two decent products. With all the crazy OT I've been getting lately I have the luxury to splurge a little.

  18. Windows 10 August 2019 update has wrecked my PC. wtf. Random reboots and freezing. It did it a few times over the last week, but yesterday it froze and rebooted 12 times. I had to do a system restore to a week ago, but it didn't uninstall the update. Its already froze once this morning. My laptop isn't having this issue.. just my main PC. The last big windows update did the same garbage but not as bad. I swear my PC finally gets stable just in time for another massive windows update to f*ck it all over again.

  20. I finished reading LoTR The Two Towers a couple weeks ago after taking a long long break on reading it. It felt like Frodo and Sam were walking forever to Mordor. That part was so long and boring. -_-; I'm glad its over with. When they finally got attacked by the spider I was thankful something was actually happening. Now I'm reading Return of the King and my god this is moving at such a better pace. The attack on Gondor is happening now. After I'm done with this book I'm going to re-watch the entire movie trilogy again.

  25. I checked error logs but I couldn't find anything. So I changed a couple settings for the gallery and did a couple test uploads. One image loaded fine, the other upload was 3 images at once. Everything worked ok. One of the issues might have been a file size limitation. Anything around 4mb might have been timing out. I increased the upload size for all usergroups. If anyone wants to test some image uploads, go for it. :D 10 mb is now the largest image the forum will take at the moment. All of my test images were no bigger than 1.5 mb. We still might get an image upload timing out for large images but that might be a hard server setting I'd have to look for.
