.. to progress the game. heh. The new leveling seems nice in a way, but it gives me no indication why the plot suddenly stops until I get one level before the level up required to unlock the next personal story chapter.

I'm happy the events are getting love. The man problem is that group events would sit there dormant outside of the Orr area of the map. Unless it was Wednesday on Borlis Pass with RCed zerging the whole map, you weren't gonna be able to do anything outside of small events, which you could solo and it was fine. You only had to level up twice for the next story in most cases. Focus on crafting too. It gives you xp.
