  1. My water heater had a seizure. Made some weird sounds and made my lights go crazy in the house earlier. Wtf I can't catch a break. I took a 2 hour lunch break and drained the tank out. Im hoping it removed sediment and it'll work ok. I'm testing it tonight. I'm waiting on a handyman guy to text me back about when he can look at it. Fml.

      Yeah, no cold showers for me. Worse comes to worse, I'd boil a couple pots of water, fill up a sink and use a wash cloth. Thankfully tho, the water heater seems to be working again. I am so glad for youtube instructional videos people upload. I'd have been screwed without them yet again yesterday. I'm guessing I had sediment build up touching a heating element. I flushed the tank and it seems to be working normally again. *knocks on wood* Although I felt like I had a heart attack when I lost all water in my house. Turns out draining the tank caused a drop in pressure in the lines because I left a release valve open when I turned the cold water back on.. I had no water for 30 minutes while I searched youtube for how to restart my well pump. Turns out it was a pressure valve I had to prime. Yet another save by youtube uploaders. Back in the day I'd have had no water for 1-2 days while waiting for a plumber to come, and pay them $300.. instead I watched a bunch of youtube videos and found out I only needed to hold a small metal bar the size of an allen wrench while pressure built back up in the regulator for about 1 minute and the water was working perfectly normal again.

      I will say this.. I am so f*cking glad I didn't buy a "fixer upper" house. This house was in a great shape when I bought it but all the little things can be extremely overwhelming. No way in hell I'd have ever kept my sanity with a house that needed ass tons of repairs.

      Flushing the tank did not fix the water heater. I had to drain it out again and replace the heating elements.. thats when I found out because of my hard water, I had massive amounts of calcium and limescale build up inside the tank. I'm guessing the previous owners never did maintenance on the water heater before. I literally had to vacuum out the inside of the heater to remove all the build up. I installed the new elements and everything is working fine again.. but I noticed the dip tube was broke inside, so I'll replace that at some point seeing as replacing it would make my showers stay hot for longer than 10 minutes. Also either the previous owners installed the wrong wattage of heating elements, or because of how they have it hooked up to the electric box, it actually was the correct wattage and I installed to low of a wattage. I'm ordering a multimeter to test it. If it is a higher voltage/wattage I'll replace the elements again at the same time I install the new dip tube. If I had the cash I'd have bought a new water heater. -_-;
