  1. My router shat out on me today and screwed me for over an hour as I thought it was my internet. -_-; My power went out and after it came back on my router started freaking out and will only stay connected for 5 seconds at a time and then go down again for 4-5 minutes. I hooked up my old back up router in the meantime. Now I have to call up the support line tomorrow and see if Tenda will honor their warranty. I ordered a TP-Link router off amazon a little while ago for a cheap $59 on sale. It seems decent enough and I've never had any issues with TP-Link before.

Linksys fa life XD My 4 antenna dual 5ghz/2.4ghz beast was worth every penny. I'm sure my neighbors 3 houses down can pick up a medium quality connection on this thing if it wasn't WPA2 locked. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. I've had a linksys router crap out on me. Ever since then I've had no brand loyalty for routers. :P

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I've had a Belkins and D-Links crap out on me but the only Linksys that died on me got hit by lightning. XD I'll have to give that one a pass. I've never had a TP-Link.

  2. I went golfing over the weekend for the first time in about 3 years and surprised the hell out of myself by actually making par on 2 par 3 holes. I definitely need to work on my long game. I can hit a 3 wood decent enough by my skill with a driver is atrocious.

  3. I bought a Nvidia Shield yesterday with that 20% off ebay sale. (These random once a month one day ebay coupon flash sales are really really nice.) I'll get the shield delivered sometime tomorrow or monday. I'm looking forward to trying it out and hopefully it'll serve great as a plex server for me. I've been using plex for a while now on my pc and it great, but I really want to have access to all my movies/anime/series to watch in bed without having to have my main pc on acting as a media server. Its also nice, that it fully supports 4k. When I eventually buy a 4k tv, all my 4k streaming needs will already be in place.

  4. The housing market is crap around here for what we can afford. -_-; I really really want to move this year. I just hope we can find something before winter.

      Yeah screw that. I need that internet the day I move in. Its aggravating how the housing market is right now. Everyone thinks that have a golden turd. I've looked at houses that look great in pictures and in person are dilapidated disasters that need major rehab work and are listed 40k more than they should be. The other houses that are listed for the right prices sell so damn quick they're on the market for 2 days to a week tops. There were 2 houses last year that would have worked for us but we hesitated thinking we'd find something better and a year later we're still looking. We won't hesitate again. -_-;

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I really want to find a house and move at this point just to get it all over with. Its so time consuming looking constantly online and going to a potential house just to find out its a dump.

    4. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

That seems to be the way it is. You either get privacy or internet. I think I even had a friend that offered to pay for the cables to be ran to his house because it was one of those awkward situations where the street across from him had good internet but his street didn't. They still turned him down. Its pretty amazing how terrible our internet structure still is. And with city codes and what not I bet it's too much of a hassle to go through the process to run cables to a single house just to give someone access to your service.

  5. Smoked some ribs last night and they turned out amazing. :D

  6. I bought a new air conditioner today. LG 6,000 btu with remote and digital controls. I have an older model like it in another bedroom window and it works amazing. But this is the first time I've used eBay to buy something so big. Bestbuy was the seller and i would have gone right thru their official site but the 15% off eBay coupon was to good to pass up. I won't buy a GE air conditioner again. The majority of the insides of all these units are Styrofoam while the other 2 LG air conditioners I have are all solid plastic and metal construction.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Oh, buying a new air conditioner means something completely different down here. XD It's still expensive I bet, but I was thinking you paid way more. Window units are nonexistent in the south since the early 80s probably unless the house is super old. Everyone has central air units here. If you have to buy a new one of those, its thousands of dollars for a decent system. With temps in the 80s or higher from May-October window units are definitely not cost effective here.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I could imagine. Lol. I usually run 3 window air conditioners here during the summer. They're pretty energy efficient for this small house. My parents and grandparents had whole house AC units that were beastly outdoor units. I'm trying to pay off some debt so even a $170 AC is cash is rather have spent on something else right now. But the old AC it is replacing was insanely loud. Nothing could stop that damn rattle noise. It was duct taped, foamed inserted, etc. I even took it apart and put it back together and that damn thing still sounded like it was going to explode. Lol. I'm looking forward to the new unit. I'm planning on moving this year so hopefully my current air conditioners will be effective for some other house to. That's the other reason I'm trying to pinch pennies.

  7. I started Ratchet and Clank on PS4 last week. That game felt so fun. Meanwhile I gave up on metal gear solid V phantom pain. It was too repetitive for me. -_-; I'm watching TetraNinja's play through now on youtube. I don't know who this guy is, but his videos are decent so far and his stealth gameplay is far superior to what I was able to accomplish.

Coming back to this topic seriously. Ratchet & Clank is a blast. I had a lot of fun playing it, but the final boss fight has your pet peeve where the mechanics are really different, and is much harder than the rest of the super casual game play. XD You'll have to tell me how it worked out for you. For me I just used the preorder weapon to demolish him. XD That thing was ultra OP.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

MGSV looks fun in this guy's videos but man I sucked at it. But I found out why I sucked at it. Tetraninja didn't mention this in his videos but i noticed he crouch walked alot. The enemies range of detection drops when snake is in crouch or full prone. As long as you are crouched, Even in line of sight of the enemy they won't see you unless you are in a specific range of them which is basically the same range as the silencer pistol. I was trying to be too stealthy in the game and prone everywhere, find everyone, Fulton out a bunch of ppl and then I'd start walking to a goal, get spotted, screw up my bullet time moment and miss a head shot, have 10 more enemies spawn in and screw up everything I've done. Eh.. I could start the game back up and crouch walk everywhere and get a completely new feel for the game but I think I'll pass on it now and finish the series of videos instead.

I thought about resuming but just doing side ops annoyed me because the bases and locations were re-used constantly. For an open world game all the missions go back to the exact same locations and all the massive amount of land on the maps are wasted with endless terrain that gives a false sense of exploration and does nothing but artificially lengthen the game. Every helicopter drop off location is figurativly miles away from the mission goal and makes traveling around time consuming and boring.  For the first time ever I'm having more enjoyment watching someone play a game than me actually playing it myself. XD

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. You replied while i was typing out my last reply. I'll definitely keep playing ratchet and clank. But i have no preorder weapon.. lol. I hope that last boss fight doesn't make me hate the game. XD

  8. I ordered a new router, its an AC1900. It should be coming in the mail today. It'll be a big upgrade over the crappy very low end belkin router I've been using for 2 years. Maybe that steam link I bought over a year ago will actually work wirelessly now. That thing is a nice concept but ended up being pointless for me unless it has a wired connection. Instead I stream all my games to my laptop which works alot better. Maybe this router will improve that connection and fix some of the blockiness I get, especially while streaming netflix at the same time.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

With your luck, your PS4 will start causing weird problems for your whole network again. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lmao. That ps4 issue pissed me off so much. XD I hooked up the router last night and everything seems to be working great. I'll test out my ps4 multiplayer this weekend. My steam streaming to my laptop even looks crisper. Like with gw2, as long as I'm not near a zerg of ppl the game now looks like it's running directly on my laptop with max settings even tho it's streaming from my pc. If I'm near a zerg it starts to pixelate a bit around the edges of what should be sharp lines.

  9. Jessica Jones season 2 is decent so far. I only have a few episodes left but I don't see how the show will ever be better than season 1 simply because of David Tennant's performance as Killgrave. He was Dr. Who for years and it's amazing to see him be somebody so evil and cruel as that character and nail it like he's always played evil bastards.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I finished the season. It was good but season 1 was still the best. If they make a season 3 I hope focus on some major enemy for her to fight. This season seemed a bit slow at parts and felt a bit to much like any origin story for a character that has already been established.

  10. And another 6-12 inches minimum of snow happening today through tomorrow morning. wtf. I haven't had time to game or watch any youtube videos. Its work, play with the dogs, do random stuff that needs to be done, shovel, go to bed, repeat. -_-;

  11. I've been rewatching Star Wars Clone Wars on netflix with Lady so she can see it before Disney eventually pulls all their products off netflix. I figure its only a matter of time before Disney launches their own streaming service and netflix probably loses 1/4 of their content.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I thought they were going to use Hulu as their platform since they own it. But after looking it up, it seems they'll leave Hulu for the more mature content of 21st Century Fox. It will be curious what will happen with all the Netflix original series deals with the mid tier marvel characters.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

From what I read a while back I think Netflix will be retaining those series. Although I doubt Marvel would let any of their characters get locked down with another company again. Whatever streaming service Disney makes it'll highly compete with netflix considering the massive amount of content it'll have by default that will never have to leave because of a license expiring. Every fox, disney, marvel, abc, etc. properties. It'll be massive and probably have as much if not more content than netflix on day one of it's launch. In hindsight it makes sense now why netflix has been so aggressively making it's own branded content. Every network has it's own streaming service now. I miss the old days of netflix having everything. I'd love to rewatch Chuck, Farscape, Psych and a bunch of other series that all used to be on netflix. As it is now Netflix hasn't had any of those shows in almost a year.

  12. Another 10 inches of snow happening today. To hell with winter. >:o

We're due for 7-14 inches Sunday - Tuesday x.x (hoping as all fuck it misses us). Can't really complain as we've had a pretty mild winter but I honestly don't want that much fucking snow

Damn you DX, damn you and you're lovely weather

It ended up being 17 inches here. x_x So much shoveling. wtf.

  13. I'm sick of winter. This crap needs to end. Another day of driving on snow/ice covered roads in zero degree temps that are so cold the rock salt wont melt anything. Its like every road is made of gravel and my car is bouncing all over the place. At least the tall hill roads are getting treated with strong as hell rock salt of a different blend to ensure melting and to prevent accidents. But all other streets are complete ass to drive on.

  14. Bestbuy and Amazon had some good deals on movies yesterday. Got 9 recent releases on blu ray for about $50. And I got a 4tb western digital external hard drive from bestbuy for $79.

      Now that we have an amazon facility in our city. I think I've started experiencing what you have in the lack of 2 day delivery. Before it opened everything was sent to me via UPS and sometimes FedEx. Now it goes to the USPS from the facility, and my package that was supposed to come yesterday, was "delayed" once reaching the USPS... even though they got it at 8am. -_-;

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Yep. If any package is small enough to fit in your mail box it'll be finished by USPS and 70% of the time it'll be delayed. Although most of the time when my packages get delayed it'll be because Amazon literally doesn't start the shipping process until a day after I order. I'll get a text message that it's shipped, get a tracking number, etc. But I'll check that tracking number 24 hours later and it'll still say "package shipping information received" but nothing about ups getting the package to ship for an entire day.

I'm supposed to get 2 packages delivered via USPS today but tracking says they got the packages at 5:50 am, but it's already 8 something this morning and it still doesn't say "out for delivery" I can pretty much guarantee they'll hold that package for another day at this point. Amazon prime has been losing its appeal to me for a while now. I don't think I'll renew it again next August at this point.

  15. My PC had an update and restart only option last night. I had no idea there was another 'creators update' for windows 10. It was the 'fall creators update'. Damn thing took over an hour to install and reset numerous times. And apparently I have a 'windows feature update' that I still have to do. I guess I should check my nvidia drivers and update them today too. I've been having some windows 10 crashes lately so hopefully this update will fix that.

  16. I've been watching this Comet channel nightly for the last couple weeks. I love this channel now. XD Its what syfy used to be. Its all scifi re-runs. I've been watching Andromeda, Stargate Atlantis and the 1995 Outer Limits series. Most of these shows are in SD, but adjusted to HD. Looks horrible up close but from a distance and while watching in bed its just like the old days. lol. And they have a whole bunch of b movies. XD  http://www.comettv.com/schedule/

  17. PSN is having a sale. I picked up the latest TWD telltale game and BF1 premium is finally on sale for $25. I got that to. I'll be playing some more bf1 over the next couple weeks. Some footage from the newest dlc is looking pretty good.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I still need to get on and play the new DLC. I got to try out some of the maps prior to its release because of Premium but never did get around to actually playing them now (I'm not looking forward to seeing the unlock requirements for the new guns though I want to get me hands on the Federov, makes medics extremely op now).

    2. Sledgstone

Using spears on horses looks brutal now. lol. I'll be playing a bunch this weekend to try it out.

  18. Holy crap I've been sick as hell for the last 4 days. Its a combo strep throat and flu. I've been off an on sick for the last month but this is kicking my ass on a whole new level.

Yeah the menthol burns like crazy, but damn it works. It reminds me of Listerine, and why I don't use any of that "no burn" stuff Crest and others make... it just doesn't feel like its working unless my gums feel like they are being bathed in acid and fire. XDXD

  19. My parents visited me over the weekend. Had a great time. :D I wish I lived in the same state as the rest of my family so I could see them all more often.

  20. RIP Tom Petty, you had some great hits.

  21. My mattress has been killing my back and sides for over a year now. I kept adjusting how I was sleeping, got a mattress pad, etc. Screw this thing. I bought a mattress in a box from walmart.com for cheap. $140. I thought about getting a memory foam one but I read that they trap heat too easily so I went with a Slumber 1 brand coil spring.

Sure as hell this mattress showed up in a box. It was vacummed sealed in a bag, folded and rolled up. When I broke that plastic seal it inflated so damn fast that it made a whistling noise thru the plastic bag as I was cutting it open. lol. It feels pretty comfortable so far but I have to let it air out for "full recovery" for 48 hours. I'd have rather gotten an expensive really nice beauty rest mattress or something else from a mattress store, but I'm tight on funds. This seems decent enough for now.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I've been sleeping on the same Sealy Posturepedic mattress for almost 20 years now. XD Its actually the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on for me. Anytime I'm in a hotel or another bed, its just not as good. Looking at the prices now they are $1000-1500 X_x I think I'll be keeping mine for as long as it lasts.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear that. Really good mattresses are super expensive. x_x A lot of mattress commercials make sense tho. We do spend about 1/3 or 1/4 of our entire lives laying on one, might as well make it a good one.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Fuck my old mattress was fucking amazing, sadly it went to hell in about 5 years (I spend a lot of time in my room since it's where everything of mine is located so you can about imagine how much time I spend on my bed (between gaming, watching anime/movies, reading, and up until recently playing games on the laptop)). Only mattress I was able to sleep soundly on (and it was only $500 or so) but I had to get rid of it two years ago because it was really starting to kill my back. My current one isn't bad (I went a little firmer than my old one, still comfy and still a pillow top but it's not the same) but I'd kill to get another mattress like my old one (don't remember what brand it was and we don't have similar mattress places like the one in Arizona where I bought it).

I'd really love one of those Sealy mattresses but fuck are they expensive. One of these days I'll have one

  22. Me and a buddy made some bulk sausage last night. It was a fun experience using a meat grinder for the first time. I have enough sausage in my freezer for almost a year now. Only cost about $20 for this amount. My friend bought way more pork butts than me and we made sausage for hours. Lol.

  23. I finished LoTR: The Fellowship of the Ring yesterday. Great novel, but if I ever read it again I'll skip the first 150 pages of hobbit only adventures. lol. After that chunk the book turned out to be great. And the fan theory about Gandalf telling them "fly you fools" as in get to the eagles is debunked to me. Theory:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/lord-of-the-rings-cast-major-fan-theory_us_561dca5fe4b028dd7ea5b392

In the novel the word 'fly' was used as the word run in multiple instances. It was just the writing style. I'm glad they kept that scene like that in the movie, but Gandalf had no secret meaning when he said that. He was simply telling them to run for their f*cking lives or they'd all die in Moria.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

All I have to say is Tom, you know what I mean (it's the only part of Fellowship I actually enjoyed outside of Moria, I really wish they would of put him in the movie). Everything else before the Council meeting could pretty much be left out (I could care less about how many meals a Hobbit has in a day or how a proper Hobbit should live). Don't get me wrong I love Tolkien's work and I love how he crafted an entire world in just 3 books (technically LotR is one book just split in three) but seriously I don't need all this set-up just for it not to mean a damn thing in the next two novels (as much as I love the Ents they're probably the only real downside to The Two Towers (though they do redeem themselves).

I honestly can't believe people actually thought that. "Fly" has more than one meaning, get a fucking dictionary people. The context it's said in is a dead giveaway as to what he meant because how the fuck do you fly out of a mine (with a Balrog on your ass at that). As much as Tolkien is great at alluding to certain things in his books there is no denying he meant "run for your fucking lives" and not "fly on the backs of eagles". Nerds will never cease to amaze me (yes I say that knowing full well I am one).

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I thought Tom was the most unbelievable character. Lol. He was definitely interesting but singing all the time was a bit creepy to me considering. Especially since he is so powerful he can simply basically order anyone or anything to do something by singing it. He sang a song to the hobbits and told them to go strip down and play in the river. Next thing you know we got naked hobbits frolicking around for a couple paragraphs. XD

  24. I was listening to some music on my PC while I was working earlier today and after a while I shut the stream off. About 20 mins later my speakers abruptly starting making loud low noises like a test pattern. I shook the speaker a bit and it stopped and I turned the power off on them. I kept working and another 5 mins later I smelled burning plastic.. and then smoke coming from my speaker.. wtf. It only stopped burning after I unplugged it from the wall. I don't know if the speaker caught fire because of a component in it, or if the ac adapter kept failed and kept pumping electricity into it. I'm glad I was there when it happened or it could have caused a serious fire incident. Now I'm paranoid about my other electronics catching fire on me. x_x

  25. Battlefield 1 premium is on sale for $29.99 for pc but it's still full price for console players. No thanks EA. I'll just hold onto my money then. 😬

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Probably won go on sale until after Battlefront II comes out. I think the console player base is still really strong, plus the have the play with a friend system where you can play all the DLC as long as someone in your squad has it. The PC base always fizzles faster.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Usually how it goes as the PC base is pretty non-existent right now (they suffer more from this paywall then us console players do as console players are more apt to buying the Season Pass then PC players (you know since the PC master race thinks they should get everything for free (I in no way believe we shouldn't but they never fully adopted the season pass mentality that we have)). It'll see a resurgence in a week or two when In the Name of the Tsar goes live next month (which I'm kinda looking forward too, some of the maps look fun). The only downside to playing with a friend is you don't get any unlocks or xp for playing DLC maps (the only downside to the system), you just get to experience the map and not the weapons (unless you get lucky to pick one up from a dead enemy).
