  1. Got my pool setup last night. All thats left to do is hook up the filter and order a water delivery. :D This same time last year we were digging out that pool spot for all of June. I'll always remember that back breaking digging. This year we put a light layer of sand down since the level is good and we wont have to worry about the pool shifting at all. I'd like to get a permanent pool at some point. It looks like buying a new ground tarp and water delivery every year will be roughly $200 a year for expenses. And these intex pools are only meant to last roughly 2-4 years, but the pool was roughly $280 on sale I think. Even then its still cheaper than a $2-$5k pool. I might stick with using these cheap pools for years.

I'm assuming you need water delivery because the well would be overburdened to supply the pool? Living on city water my entire life, all I've ever seen people do throw the hose connected to the house over the side and and let it rip. Took a long time granted, and no telling what their water bill was for that month, but it was convenient. XD I guess the ground tarp can't handle a single NY winter? I know people here can use their tarps until the sun bleaches it from dark blue to baby blue so long as a major tropical system doesn't rip it. People anchor those down pretty good.

You also have to consider the cleaning of a legit ground pool. Gotta climb down in there and scrub it out, who knows what can crawl up under that tarp all those months. I guess it depends one which cons and pros you prefer. Either way its more work that ever want to deal with. One thing I have is an extremely solid long term memory. I can remember things all the way back to when I was 3 years old. I remember when I was 5 til I was about 7, I went to a day care that had a pool. I swam in it a few times, but one year I guess they decided it was too much of a hassle and they just filled it in with concrete. That seemed to be the popular thing to do back in the 80s and 90s. I dunno how it is now when you don't want a pool anymore. I guess buying a ton of concrete is cheaper than demolishing the pool, having the debris removed, and the ton of dirt to fill it in.

Yeah it'll be too much of a burden on the well that and I have hard water. It seemed more cost efficient to order water that is already chlorinated and balanced than slow fill with well water and buy alot of chemicals. Last year the pool test strips I used once a week were all good. The only thing I had to do was keep using chlorine pucks. My friend that lives near me has well water he filled his kids 2x10 foot pool. 2 tests this week and his alkalinity and ph is all super high. He'll have to call a local pool store for the chemicals since we can't find an alkalinity reducer. Looks like he'll have to add a small amount of a specific acid to the water and then a ph up afterwards.

We took the pool down before winter and stored it in the garage.. the ground tarp didn't even make it to winter. I think the weight of the water stressed the tarp because the legs of the pool settled an inch deep with every leg. Once the pool was down that tarp was brittle and wrecked. Lol.

I'm getting my water delivery on monday. :D

This is what the pool looks like so far. It looks filthy because I read it was best to baby powder it when folding it up for storage so it doesn't stick to itself when putting it back up because it's vinyl. Seemed to work because it unfolded just fine.

And harbor freight ftw. 19x19 foot tarp for $19 with tax after coupon.

I kept the old tarp. I threw it in the garage thinking I'd reuse it, but man it was beyond destroyed. XD I need to throw it in the garbage. What's really stupid is amazon sells "pool ground covers" for $89. All it is is a plain blue tarp. Lol. Screw amazon BS listings.

  2. Everyone on SSI got the $1200 and it doesn't count towards the $2000 limit. My family members got it to and didn't have to fill out any paperwork for it. They just got the follow up letter photocopy signed by Trump as a confirmation of the deposit. And it does not count as income or earned income for taxes either.
  3. The looting is some bullshit. Protest and some rioting in the region where it happened ok i can understand that. but robbing target stores and other businesses and burning random places for the hell of it in random parts of the country is just theft and vandalism. Alot of people are using the situation as an excuse to go steal crap and it's not helping the cause. But I will say I blame the f*cked up cops and the judicial system in place that keeps letting them get off the hook. That cop did murder that guy. He was kneeling on his neck arteries until he died and he should be charged with murder. The more stuff like that goes unpunished or "he was fired with paid leave" the more this kind of reaction will happen. All the cops have stun guns now. If someone isn't cooperative they can stun them and the probes stay in them and the cop can stun them again to restrain them again, etc. I have personally talked with alot of cops over the years in NY, none recently thankfully, state, local and county cops. Out of all the ones I've had to talk to I don't trust a single one. On another note, we hit phase 2 of reopening the economy here. All the barber shops, hair salons etc. Are all open again. Pretty much every business is open again I think except for restaurants, movie theaters and other entertainment avenues.

Youtube recommended this video to me for some reason.. and next thing I know I watched 3 of them in a row. Turns out theres a couple channels for this guy. wtf. The guy builds all these mini houses with a stick and all of them have a water feature of some kind, usually a small pool. Whatever country he lives in seems to have ground that is very sandy, at least in the region he does his builds. Some of the comments in the videos are hilarious. "this guy has more houses than the Kardashians"
  6. Much better than the free games for May. I do recommend playing the Battlefront 2 campaign. It was enjoyable. Make sure to get the free campaign DLC to finish it. I can't remember if it auto downloads with the game at this point or if you have to manually tell it to download from the menu. Its basically an epilogue mission at the end that ties in to the events of one of the movies. And I've been told the Call of Duty WWII campaign was good. I'll have to try that after I get caught up on GW2.
  7. Jim makes alot of great points. Every console hype and new game release hype is almost always full of lies and BS just to generate more hype and pre-orders. I hope the PS5 will be amazing, but I'm not going to be in a rush for buying one.
  8. Damn so I guess those rumors of Konami selling Silent Hill and Castlevania to Sony was all nothing. At least there will be a potentially new Silent Hill game.. but lets see if Konami can actually still make a decent game or not.
  9. Grievous and Dooku were amazing villains in clone wars... but like you said... watch them in episode 1 and it's like, wtf, why are they so weak. Grievous especially had some amazing fights in clone wars, but in episode 1 when he's fighting Kenobi it seems so slow paced.
  10. It was snowing just 2 weeks ago and now it's practically a heat wave with multiple days in the 80s. I got my window air conditioners in, but the outdoor support for my big one broke when I was testing it. The window I need this AC unit in is extra wide and can't support the weight of the unit so last year I used an umbrella stand with a metal fence post with a welded pipe on the top. It worked great, but the umbrella stand just not have been good for the weight and it snapped during my test.

So I spent today making a new support brace out of wood. I used a 4x4 and some scrap 1x6s I had from deck work I did last weekend. It's working good, I just need to fill dirt under the bottom of the base boards and then place some of my huge ass rocks all over the base for extra stability. It's all pressure treated wood so it should last for years.

Probably hard to tell from the pics but that's like 40-50 pounds of wood.

Now I need to try prosciutto. Lol. That sounds great. I'll keep my eyes out for speciality meat sampler packs at the store. I'd love to eat a fancy lunchable like that. I've only had smoked cheese once, it was good.. but smoked mac and cheese was another level of yum. There's a variety of cheeses around here at the wineries and apple orchards and distilleries for tourism. Next time I hit one of them I'll have to take some pics. I like to get a bag of fresh cheese curds sometimes. My go to cheddar cheese is helluva good brand. The special reserve does taste more potent but actually tastes a bit too strong sometimes so I mostly stick to buying extra sharp. It tastes great on some triscuits with a slice of pepperoni or summer sausage. Their jalapeno jack is pretty good too. But I don't like helluva good shredded cheeses. I swear they're too greasy if you melt it, like on a pizza.

I've never heard of bitlong until your post. It looks really good. Since we're looking at dried meats have you ever tried a cured aged meat? I haven't yet, but this video makes it look really tempting: I'm guessing it has a good shelf life since its literally is dried over 3+ months. It doesn't look like the guy cleans any of the penicillin mold off either before taking a taste.. I suppose that's safe and adds flavor. Lol. I've seen prosciutto sold in packages at grocery stores before but never tried it. I think the only downside is it looks like it needs to be kept refrigerated.
  14. Its finally warmed up around here. It snowed earlier this week and we've had over night freezing multiple days. And then abruptly it was almost 80 yesterday. XD now it's back down to the 60s, but at least it looks like winter is finally over. Now I can get some more yard work done without freezing my ass off. Lol.

And wtf.. we have gifs again? I thought it was disabled. Lol. Maybe ipb re-enabled it at some point and I never noticed.

  15. Lmao! After watching Clone Wars I figured there must have been large amounts of super weak jedi in the galaxy. I always thought all jedi were badasses, but I guess every group needs their own red shirts/canon fodder units. As for main characters like Anakin or Ashoka I like to think of them in video game terms.. Ashoka getting kidnapped just means she needs to level up more. Around then she's like level 20 imo.. by the end of the series she's like level 99.
  16. My region has started phase 1 of NY state's reopening plan. Manufacturing and retail jobs can all start back up, but all retail aside from Walmart, Lowes, etc is all curbside pickup which makes no damn sense to me at all.. I can go into the dollar store and buy stuff because they were deemed essential business because they have food items, but if I walk down that same shopping center, Bed Bath and Beyond, Five Below, etc. all have to sell their stuff on the sidewalk I guess because they can only operate curbside.. wtf. And it sounds like a large amount of jobs that are starting to hire back are going to purposefully make everyone take a couple paid days off per pay period so those employees can all still claim the partial unemployment $600 a week benefit as an incentive to come back to work because unemployment pays them more than their actual wages would. They need to fix it and then stop touching it. In principal I understand why they implemented it because americans don't save enough money for retirement at all. They obviously don't if such a large amount of older people you know all have to keep working. x_x Like my parents have a 401k, savings, CDs and a handful of stocks but also need that social security combined with it all to make their retirement work and be happy. I'm glad its working out for them. As for me, I have a shitty small 401k, no savings, debt instead.. no stocks, no CDs, etc. All I really have to look forward to at this point is getting a small check from social security when I'm in my 70s so at least I can do part time work instead of having to be full time until the day I die. x_x I also see that money going out of my paycheck for it every paycheck and I get the letters from Social Security roughly once a year or so saying "at your current contribution and income, when you retire at this age, your benefit will be $x.xx amount of money per month, etc." As far as I'm concerned the money I'm putting into it is still my money. Its like how I direct deposit an extra $30 a paycheck into a rainy day checking account. If that bank takes that money out of that account, spends it on upgrading one of their new branch locations and then gives out my money as bonuses to their employees, I'd be raging pissed that they fraudulently used my cash and its gone. I feel like that about social security. Thats my damn money, I have a full record of it being taken out of every paycheck. Every time I read about the government dipping into it pisses me off and I don't understand why it doesn't enrage everyone else. Everyone around my age has like 20+ years of contributions already put in.. if they want to destroy the entire system instead of fixing it, then I want my 20+ years of contributions back so I can put it into a different retirement program because if Social Security didn't exist for these last 20+ years thats alot of money I could have been contributing to a 401k with compounding interest. x_x
  17. The graphics are amazing. The combat looks crazy.. but I'm guessing all the enemies have a small amount of hit points, or its just that they're keeping with some realism that a sword will slice the shit out of people and kill them pretty quickly. lol.
  18. SSI recipients received their $1200.00 stimulus direct deposited today. At least the government actually got that right without screwing it up. This $600 a week unemployment thing actually sounds stupid to me. I know a handful of people that are getting it, my brother knows a good chunk of people getting it.. it seems a bit ludicrous to me. For example, my brother knows someone that was working at a gamestop part time. She only made around $600 a month. Now with the unemployment shes been making roughly $50 a week + the $600 a week bonus. Now she makes $2600.00 a month to stay home. wtf. $2000 a month bonus for these 3 months to not work. What I don't get is I know people on SSI and disability and it maxes out around $800-900 a month. The federal government decided disabled people can survive off roughly $800 a month along with medicaid, but unemployed people need their unemployment benefit plus $2400 a month to survive!? how the fuck does that work? I also found out if you have reduced hours, like only working 4 days a week instead of 5 you can claim the partial unemployment benefit and still get the $600 a week bonus. My friend's old coworkers are doing that at his old job. They're all still making like $20+ a hour 32 hours a week, getting their $50 or so partial unemployment each week and the $600 a week bonus. wtf. I also found out a local contractor got one of the forgivable small business loans. The guy's business hasn't been affected hardly at all, all employees are still doing their contractor work while social distancing and the guy pocketed $250,000.00 pretty much as pure profit bonus. Theres basically no oversight at all. I have never seen the government just had out cash like this before. Its crazy to think a republican held white house is literally giving away money like a broken ATM just spewing it all out onto the street. And all that money is basically being funneled to walmart, amazon and grocery stores because its the only places you can buy stuff. But watch how there will still be a social security issue when we all get to retirement age.. Social security will run out of money, blah blah, retirement age is now 80, work until you die, because the government can't afford to pay you the benefits you paid into your entire life, etc... unless another pandemic happens in which they'll just print and give away an ass ton of money again to anyone because money limitations don't matter for that. I saw another bill being proposed by democrats to extend that $600 a week benefit through January of 2021 and add another round of stimulus checks to everyone with a massive increase for people with children. Holy crap. If that were to happen, the dollar will lose so much value because of the massive federal debt and at the end of that the country would be pretty much guaranteed to have to go through punishing austerity measures that would wreck whatever economy we have left. I feel bad for the people that died of Covid19, but I want to see the economy open back up ASAP. Let old people and people with severe pre-existing conditions stay at home still and stay safe for another month or so without punishment from their employers, etc., but let the rest of the population go out and resume their lives. Good news is testing in my area is significant now as of this week. They're now letting anyone and everyone be tested at multiple locations even if you don't show symptoms. If this was available at the beginning, this entire lockdown for months wouldn't have been necessary... Which also brings me back to the endless money pit that is USA right now.. if we had all this money to pay everyone hundreds of billions of dollars to not work.. why the hell didn't the federal government tap into that endless supply of cash for preventive measures like national testing and have it done within the first half month of this entire breakout. I'm glad Covid19 wasn't the equivalent of Spanish flu, half the country would have probably died with this shitty response.
  19. I'd love to see Konami sell off their licenses to another developer like Capcom that could do those IPs right. But if they do sell them, watch them sell to Nintendo and then we'll get a new Silent Hill made off the animal crossing engine. I can't remember if this rumor was debunked yet or not, but Sony was rumored to be interested in buying them off Konami. https://www.gamesradar.com/playstation-is-reportedly-looking-to-buy-the-metal-gear-and-silent-hill-licenses-from-konami/
  20. I was expecting another round of hoard shopping for meat. But maybe we'll luck out on that because nobody has enough freezer space. My younger bro bought a chest freezer a month ago. It took 3 weeks to get shipped and delivered. He said freezers are out of stock everywhere and all back ordered.
  21. I'm stepping up my manscaping. lol. I bought a "MANGROOMER Ultimate Pro Back Shaver" off amazon. I've only used it once and I already highly recommend it. My back is like a wookie. XD And this thing shredded through all that hair and didn't pull a single one. No pain and no red marks or irritation on my back. Link for reference:

    https://www.amazon.com/MANGROOMER-Ultimate-Shaver-Absorber-Extreme/dp/B00FULYKG4

Its got a rechargeable battery. I was really impressed with it. I'd post before and after pics of my back, but I don't want to traumatize people with my back hair bathroom mirror pics. XD

    1. slippers

      slippers

lol thats gross 😛 but yea its always satisfying when a product you buy works as it should. i bought a grooming kit, dont even remember what brand, at walgreen once bc it was rechargeable (not batteries), and i thought it was cool bc it came with all these extra stuff like detachable blades, small brushes/combs, and nose hair trimmer etc so why not. nope, what a piece of garbage. it took 6 HOURS to recharge and it ran out fast after little use maybe 10 mins top. and it was mediocre at best, pulling hair out was norm, changing blades was pain, and i tossed it out after a several use. after that i just got a conair hair clipper at walmart (and made sure it came with a f*cking cord lol) and its been over a decade now and it still goes strong. it gets hot when i turn it on for too long but i dont even bother to clean it anyway bc its recommended to oil it after every use or something but works fine after all these years. so yeah to me simple is always better. i just dont believe it when a product promises extra goods, they are there for a reason maybe bc its a crap lol

I hear ya about a corded shaver. I don't trust many cordless ones anymore because they all are underpowered and pull hairs. My primary electric face shaver is a whal peanut. It plugs right into the wall and never pulled a hair before. I was shocked by this mangroomer tho, I expected it to pull but it had a power burst button on it that made all the difference. It probably eats the hell out of the battery life, but I got through an entire back shaving with that power boost running constant and it still seemed to have plenty of power left over. lol.

  22. If there is supposed to be a meat shortage, I'm not seeing it. I don't know about walmart, but the grocery store I went to yesterday in the same shopping area was fully stocked. Had every meat imaginable, except for pork ribs. There was a limitation of 2 packages of pork per person, but aside from ribs they had everything and even many bulk packages. Looks like my region might be starting its slow reopen by this friday as long as a few more criteria are met to appease Cuomo's rules. My parent's are in Ohio will be doing the same. I told them to keep themselves inside for a couple extra weeks so other people can test the waters first to see if a hot spot explodes in the area.
  23. It does get better. Lol. The first couple seasons was definitely targeted more to a younger audience. Its definitely worth watching all the way thru just for the lore since it's all considered canon. Season 6 does get a bit slow but it's full of alot of info too.
  24. Its looks great to me. Its a shame about that leak, I can't even look at youtube comments anymore because the gaming community loves to be trolls that all jump on a hate bandwagon together like they're a political movement. I swear, its like, if you don't agree with the hate mob, they'll make sure to ruin any enjoyment you might have in something just to continue their hate cycle. Hell, if this comment I made right now was on reddit, it'd have 9000 downvotes within an hour and 200 comments telling me how I'm the dick for generalizing the gaming community and everyone else would post every spoiler they read about and why the game is a failure and naughty dog should die as a company.
  25. The next battlefield game needs to be modern with modern weapons and vehicles, it needs to bring back traditional spotting mechanics, large powerful vehicle spawning directly onto the maps (not only in a spawn screen), and gun attachments. And get rid of the gun upgrade mechanics and get rid of bleed out. If all of these criteria are not met, I will not buy another Battlefield game. BF4 was amazing, large scale vehicle combat that didn't seem OP considering how foot soldiers had a variety of weaponry that could take out vehicles (RPGs, C4, land mines, etc). BF1 if I remember correctly, limited powerful vehicle spawning to squad leaders only after the squad gets so many points or some crap. That was bullshit. I think there were some tanks that could be spawned into but only if you waited in the spawn screen long enough. But the introduction of single seat only tanks ruined it further by not providing mobile spawn points. And even then most of the tanks on BF1 felt underpowered and sitting in a side seat was often pointless with such shit turrets. BF5, I think does something similar, I'm not certain because I have yet to get in an actual tank in it. The end result is the large scale warfare of vehicle combat doesn't exist in battlefield anymore like it used to in BF3 & BF4. And screw the lack of spotting anymore. I tried to play BFV again a month ago and its not enjoyable. Its like playing hardcore mode in BF3 & BF4. I don't want a realistic shooter, I want that more arcade style experience with a crap ton of vehicles all over the map, red doritos everywhere, CF4 jeeps and all those only in battlefield moments that don't exist anymore with BF1 & BFV.
