Cell phone games

Recommended Posts

Do you have games on your cell phone? What games do you have? How much did you pay for them? Do you know any free game sites?

I am such a cell phone newb now. x_x I have three demo games on my rumor 2 and I'm tempted to buy Sonic 1 and 2 because they're available for my phone... they should only be about $3-$7 a piece, but then I have to pay the data transfer, which means about $2-$4 more per game I think... The data rates on sprint without a data plan are huge.

if you have an Android handset you can get all the games for free by d/l them from the net and dropping them on the SD card

using a program called App Installer from the market place and installing apps from the sd card

What service do you have? if you have Verizon, Verizon uses BREW games which makes them near impossible to get games with out paying for them. What is your new phone anyway? the android?

I have an LG Rumor 2. Its not a full blown smart phone, so its pretty limited in what I can do with it in terms of games or apps. :\

Currently playing and enjoying Heroes Camelot. It's sort of like a card game I think ... not sure cos I don't know game genres in general. I just hit a roadblock and will have to figure out a way to upgrade my stuff to battle some boss to go further. I see people on the game with so many interesting cards, it looks like they may have 'bought' them. I ain't spending a dime!

I don't mind free games because it lets us try them without buying it.. but then these same games annoy me because you usually need to spend money to get the upgrades you need to beat the game or you need to buy new levels. Screw all that. I'd rather just buy a game outright then keep spending small increments endlessly.

Talk about an old topic.. lol. I made this back before I had an android phone. XD The last games I've played on my phone were some of the angry birds ones and fragger.

XD Temple Run is was pretty good. I stopped playing phone games a long bit ago, they just drain battery and make the phone pretty warm. I remember when I had an iPhone 4 I was stuck in my store overnight for a IT overhaul and I was playing angry birds most the night. The phone would get so hot, the overheat message would come on, and I'd stick it in the frozen food freezer for 10 minutes to get the temp back down and keep playing.

There is an option where you can buy some gems for this and that but you don't have to in order to increase your levels. You can repeat a few conquests to gain more cards and use those cards to upgrade your current card levels. That's what I'm doing right now cos for instance, my deck's health is at 81K and attack is at 30K but the boss's health is at 90K and attack is at 46K. So I either get my stats to match that or go beyond. The kind of cards these bosses have are challenging, so picking the right deck or order is important. You can be of a lower stat but if you place the deck smart you can still win. I made the mistake of starting with a weak set of players and I've been upgrading the stats of those weak players since.

Every once in a while I'll come across free games for PC that look really good. Anyone can feel free to update this topic with limited time free game links so we can add them to our ever growing backlog of games. If a game states how long it will be free for, please list that along with the link. Sometimes it won't be stated so if you click a link and its no longer free, then that promo must have expired. I've seen alot of free game listings off slickdeals or other blogs. I'll update this when I see good ones. I would post the free games with Amazon Prime, but I don't currently have amazon prime so if those appeal to anyone, feel free to post them since Amazon Prime generally gives away a couple free games a month.
      To start off with:
Little Nightmares is currently free with a Steam promotion until 05/30/2021 @ 10:00am (does not say if EDT, PDT, etc. )

Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault - Limited Free Promotional Package, free for this weekend or until 05/31/2021? It doesn't say exact day it ends.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.

Am I the only one suffering from steam sale fatigue? Maybe its just me but ever since they changed the store to the design it is now nothing in the store appeals to me anymore. Its probably because of the massive influx of every game from every independent developer. Theres so many games on there that I never look at what new games came out anymore because in any given week 40+ new games were released and 250+ games are listed in their weekly sales. I stopped looking and only pay attention to humble bundle sales now. Even with the steam sale going on now I don't see any huge sale thats leaping out at me to take my money anymore. Sure I still have a backlog of games but there seems to be less and less new AAA or indie games that I'm interested in for PC. Unless its a game I want for console I hardly look at the steam store anymore even though I use steam on a daily basis.

Powered by the same GPU as the Nvidia Shield and a couple smart phones and chromebooks, (and not as powerful as current gen consoles or even close to gaming PCs), the Nintendo NX will use the Nvidia Tegra as a GPU/CPU combo for a handheld console with detachable controllers. It will also come with a home base that you can plug into to play the console on the TV. It will still play cartridges.
My guess is that it will look like the Wii U controller, except with detachable nunchuck controllers on the sides. I would photoshop something to look like that but I need a new photo editing program. ehh.

The Tegra is a decent chip, but I don't see Nintendo competing with Sony or Microsoft at this point anymore. Its like they are doubling down on their handheld market, which makes sense to me. They know how to make good handhelds and they sell. But if this is all true it seems a bit too gimmicky to me. The Wii and Wii U was all targeted at families and party games, but this is obviously targeted toward individuals and solo players. If the screen is the normal size of a cell phone and its meant to run games all the time, I wonder how hot the thing will get and if it'll need to be recharged every 2 hours.
