Ming-Na (ER, Two and a Half Men), Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba), Elyse Levesque (Journey to the Center of the Earth), and Alaina Huffman (Smallville) have all joined the cast of the Sci Fi Channel’s SGU: Stargate Universe. They join a cast that already includes Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith and Brian J. Smith (see “Robert Carlyle in Stargate Universe”).

The new series is darker and edgier than previous Stargate iterations. According to The Hollywood Reporter SGU is slated to debut “this October with a two-part episode directed by Andy Mikita.”

Lou Diamond Phillips!? Wow, no more sci-fi b-movies for him. Hes moving on up now. :P I'm surprised they didn't tap Steven Baldwin for this series too. :P

*watches as the Destiny flies into a blackhole never to be seen again*
Its a shame this show was made into shit, it had alot of potential.

Anyone else catch the first episode last night? I'll have to give it a couple more episodes to really see what the series will be like. The Destiny looks like its huge. I wonder what size it is compared to Atlantis. But I thought it was pretty awesome that the ship has been traveling through multiple galaxies. I wonder if the series will only take place in one galaxy or if they'll have chunks of time traveling through the vast spaces between them. Interesting so far.

Looks like it'll have some good action. But if they have any characters that are anything like the idiot team of Sheppard, Ronin and Teyla, I'll drop this series.
