omfg battle royal/ impel down

What I never got is if he is shortening his lifespan how does that work with his Gum Gum powers? I would assume that since he is now a rubber man his life expectancy should be way longer than that of an average man seein as how his internal organs and such being rubber would last longer.

Kuwa, it shortens his lifespan by a smaller amount (as compared to the 10 years we just know of as in specifics) whenever he overdoes his Gear 2 and Gear 3 powers, and/ or clubs them both. Remember the crew discussing it, Usopp in particular at the end of Thriller Bark. Being a rubber man helps him to stretch his organ tissue, but that's damaging. He raises his blood circulation for Gear 2, puts immense pressure on his heart. The safest thing for him to use is Haki, if he can control it. He can put people to sleep, or intimidate them to a point where they don't think wise of having to fight him.

I think his natural Haki's got further unlocking since the Amazon island incident, where he accidentally used it the first time. Battling with the poison, etc. must've mentally strengthened him or something (Haki's translated as Ambition in the new episode, I think it's apt .. or if they coined it to be 'will' instead ... that'd explain what we've been discussing about the 'will of D' ...). Iva credits the hormone treatment, and her miracles to only scientific reasons, and cosmetic changes. Luffy's in an extraordinary situation now, and I hope Iva tells him how to use Haki. It's the ONLY way he has a chance to fight anyone right now ... the end battle might very well be with Magellan, or a mad power Admiral like John Giant or Kizaru or Smoker, etc. etc. I mean, the whole gang's there along with every Shichibukai, and I think somewhere along the line, Boa will help with either a sacrifice or by having her mark exposed. Where the hell is Whitebeard? Where the hell is Shanks? I don't think the other Supernova's are gonna help or turn up for the execution. But, it's a public execution, and we aren't certain of who's captured I THINK. We're also forgetting about the Joker in our lil pack of cards - Dragon. He IS gonna turn up for his son's execution no matter what people might think. He's been shown as a villian, but I think it's gonna be one of those I had to leave you for your own good kinda situations, and that he's protectful of his kids. He was there in Loguetown, and arguably was responsile for saving Luffy with the escape and/ or lightning! There's also Jimbei's scenario which I posted about - Ace is taken, Luffy arrives with just Jimbei in the cell, frees him and Jimbei helps. Bon Clay and the Crocodile scenario is uncertain ... he might not free the guy, but you never know! Buggy might sacrifice himself at a later point somehow, and have a tearful reunion with his pal Shanks, possibility. I'm not thinking clear right now hahaha ... been up all week practically.

Iva uses Haki, the wink thing.

I def think the Will of D is at work in Luffy and that is what speed along his recovery

I also think Dragon will show up to the execution

Shanks is fighting that other emperor that wanted to move in on WB turf and WB is going after marines....

Didn't Iva say that her hormones would help Luffy, but his survival was dependent on his will power? His "will power" ties in with the "will of D" and haki. I think they're all interconnected. Maybe because his haki/will power is the most powerful of all haki abilities, then it is probably the same power Gol D. Roger had. Its probably even more powerful than what Boa herself has... and that level of Haki could be what they mean as "The Will of D"?

I bet its a bloodline limit. :P Roger is probably related some how or another to Luffy/Ace/Garp.

You bring up a great point GG. With the use of Haki it would mean that he is that much closer to being as powerful as the rest of the higher ups in the one piece world. Now where does that leave the rest of his crew? They can't just sit back and expect Luffy to be doing all the work.

There is also a part of me that believes Zoro surpassed Luffy in strenght at the end of the Thriller bark arc and going into the Archipelego. With him being able to fight OZ on his own and do much better than anyone else besides shadow Luffy and on top of that he was able to take on all the damage that Luffy took on top of his and stay up until the rest of the Strawhats get up while the damage that luffy endured caused Luffy to pass out.

With that said if Luffy gets Haki he will surpass Zoro and be in a league of his own. And as showed by the other pirate crews we know that reside in the new world it's not just the captains strenght that matters but the strenght of the entire crew that allows them to survive!

Sledge, true that. About a certain level of Haki being the Will Of D ... in a way, it's tied into Luffy's ambition, and character. It's like Date~san doing the Banton pass on Makunouchi, who is the next best guy ... because he can get there, you know ... something like that. But, there're other people who have the Will Of D in them ... so it can be tied in with great will power.

Among all the supernova's, I didn't notice anyone use Haki. Which means Luffy's at a point where he's more powerful than them if he learns to use his Haki at will. Also, we know his bounty's higher anyway because they haven't counted Moria's defeat into his bounty.

Zoro is a strong beast, sure, capable of shedding buckets of blood, and still being able to stand up/ fight. In terms of strength and agility, I don't think he was more powerful than Luffy at Thriller Bark. He was able to 1. stand at the end or 2. fight off Oz better than the rest because Ans 1. he trains his strength, and he fought Oz in team work vs one on one, so he had backup, etc. and Ans 2. he's the second most powerful person in the crew. I don't think he's quick enough for Luffy's Gear 2nd, or the ferocity of his Gear 2nd attacks. Zoro has the potential to use MASSIVE Haki ... notice how he's upgraded his skills (cutting steel, or air attacks), mostly to do with the mind, and his will. Maybe he's used it unintentionally all this while in smaller amounts ... or to overcome that massive ball of pain Kuma left for him. He overcame that using SOME Haki ... like Luffy overcomes Iva's cure chamber.

I think Zoro has been using a level of Haki all along with his sword techniques. Like how on amazon island their bow and arrow attacks were haki powered attacks that caused cutting or explosive blasts.

Remember when Brooke watched Zoro fight for the first time? He called him a "power user" or something like that. Kind of implying that Brooke has seen other Haki users and the power behind their attacks. I think Zoro can only use his haki by focusing thru his blades, but he also is able to use it for healing and stamina. He still won't surpase Luffy tho. Luffy's DF power puts him a notch above Zoro as it is with his gear 2 & 3 attacks, but Luffy's haki is more superior... Its also reasonable to believe that Luffy can focus some haki into his physical attacks too. Remember when Luffy and Zoro attacked the aqua laguna? I don't think Luffy hit that wave with his fists, but it was more of a focus haki blast just like Zoro sent out a wave of power too.

btw, I think Ussop has the most powerful healing haki in the OP world. He can have every bone in his body broken and still function. X'D When Zoro is on the verge of death he'll eventually pass out, (of course he can take more damage than Usopp), but in terms of damage, things that should have killed Ussop multiple times only slow him down and with a few bandages the bastard kicks thru the rest of a story arc generally without passing out. :P

Wow, what a chapter ... no OP chapter next week, I'm pissed! Things are moving quick, and I can't wait to read the next chapter.

I dunno about immunity, but Iva has to tell him about Haki sooner or less, it's vital at this stage. The admiral picked for escorting Ace looks like the most ruthless among the summoned admirals, so it's going to be tough. Where the hell is Whitebeard anyway? Luffy's pretty much at his limit right now with the extra hormone boost, and no rest with a quick recovery that's not allowed to be a 100%. Magellan's hurt, notice how he took longer in the bathroom, and he's holding his stomach indicating his pain from Luffy's attack, so he knows Luffy's strength now. Also, you think there's a possibility that Reyleigh gets involved somehow? He's also an open wildcard here, along with Kuma's unpredictable antics.

a reunion between Iva and Dragon...

does that mean war is eminent and will the Monkey brothers have to choose between going to war with their biological daddy-o or returning to their crews??? ***gasp***

I think Luffy's strong haki abilities are related to the Will of D. I'm also concerned about side effects of Iva's technique that will catch up to him the day after... could Luffy become Luffette?! If he was changed into a woman for a bit it would be a pretty good disguise :P

The WG is delebiratly starting shit with the public execution of the type of prisoner they lock up and throw away the key. They're provoking WB into a fight but the question is why?

The balance of power in the new world seems to be shifting....

I dunno about Ussop and haki I think the guy is just uber durable X'D

I think the WG has an Ace up their sleeve, no pun intended lol. I mean the supreme admiral or whatever knows that Ace is the son of Dragon as well as the "son" of whitebeard, so why would he do something that is basically suicide. Not to mention the strenghts of the Warlords we have yet to see in real combat such as Don Flamingo as well as Mihawk who is on par with an Emperor of the sea since he's Shank's rival.

I have a strong feeling that the WG might win this.

In terms of basic ability, we've seen Don manipulate 2 other admirals or vice admirals in one of those meetings, so he has the power to make people do what he wants, like putting them on a spell or whatever. Mihawk we've seen tearing Kreig's ship apart, and Kreig also said he had some 20-25 other ships that were destroyed by Mihawk. Zoro probably has the same strength, but I don't think the magnitude/ impact is the same considering Mihawk uses that sword which may/ may not amplify his attack.

WG is drawing both WB and Dragon in, and the reason for it we don't know YET. It's interesting though ... they have all the supernova's close by too (captured or not, we don't know yet). I can't think right now, but I'll add some points later on when they come to mind.

Exactly, they are planning on dealing a huge blow the Golden Age of Piracy. I wouldnt be surprised if they bombarded WB and Dragon's crews with Pacifista's before they are engaged by the Admirals, VA's and the Warlords.

I bet Dragon will show up, but I don't think he'll try to recruit Luffy or Ace into his army. They're both living their own lives separate from him. Does that supreme admiral know Ace is Dragon's son? I thought the entire WG was only going after whitebeard by using Ace's execution as a lure.

I don't think Luffy hurt him that much at all. I think most of the damage Magellen took was inflicted on himself by using too much poison or too many varieties of posion. In the other chapter they hinted at the amount of poison he uses, the more devistating shits he takes.

... He gets to ace's cage, only to find jimbei instead, and frees him, saves ace with his help. Don't forget some marines/ shichibukai may be needed to get the prisoners back in their cells, if luffy frees some dangerous criminals from level 6! Crocodile, what the hell is he gonna do?!

You've called stuff so many times ^_^

Btw, I read the upcoming chapter, it came out on Friday, a week before it's actual translation/ release X'D ... and it's one of the MOST epic chapters so far. I say one of because, clearly, there's much more epicness in store where the storyline's going at.
