'A-Team' Movie Set

Twentieth Century Fox has scheduled John Singleton's big screen remake of The A-Team for a June 12th, 2009 theatrical debut. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the writing team responsible for the highly successful western remake, 3:10 to Yuma, and the upcoming film based on Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' Top Cow comic Wanted, are collaborating on the screenplay for the new A-Team film.

No casting announcements have been made yet for the new film, which Singleton has been developing for some time (see "Singleton Planning A-Team Revival"). Fox's choice of a mid-June release date indicates that the studio is planning to make this film a "tentpole" for its 2009 summer season. Fox's determination to make this film an event is certainly good news for any manufacturers seeking to revive the rich tradition of merchandise (action figures, vehicles, comics, etc.) inspired by the original A-Team TV series.

I wonder who could possibly fill Mr. T's shoes as B. A. Baracus. :P

Bradley Cooper, the star of the surprise hit The Hangover, and Liam Neeson, who starred in the unexpectedly popular thriller Taken, are taking key roles in Fox’s big screen adaptation of The A-Team. Cooper will play the terminally handsome Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck, while Neeson will portray the group’s cigar-smoking leader, Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith. According to Variety production on the film, which is being directed by Joe (Smokin’ Aces) Carnahan, is due to begin in August for a June 10th, 2010 release.

I wonder if Mr. T will make a cameo appearance. :P

BlackFilm.com says that rapper The Game is a frontrunner for the role of B.A. Baracus in director Joe Carnahan's The A-Team at 20th Century Fox. The role was originally played by Mr. T on the TV show.

If he lands the role, he would join Liam Neeson, who plays John "Hannibal" Smith, and Bradley Cooper, who is taking on the role of Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

The studio is eyeing a June 11, 2010 release for the action film.

The Game's acting credits include Street Kings and Waist Deep.
