Call of Duty WWII

Over two years in the making, Sledgehammer Games delivers a gritty, personal experience in the setting of the largest worldwide conflict in history to a new gaming generation in Call of Duty®: WWII. Play through the story of ordinary men turned soldiers in the 1st Infantry Division as they fight to preserve freedom in the face of tyranny. Call of Duty: WWII delivers fast-paced, boots-on-ground combat through iconic locations in the European Theater.

Looks like Call of Duty is mimicking Battlefield 1 now. Just like Advanced Warfare was inspired by Destiny.

Meh, until I see multiplayer footage I'm not making any judgements (honestly COD campaigns have never been spectacular (exception being COD4 for me as it was the first one I played and it was a damn good campaign)). It's just sad Activision is trying to jump on the nostalgia train and taking a page from the DICE playbook (though it was inevitable with the lacking sales numbers on the last few COD titles).

For COD's and Activision's sake I hope this game is as good as WaW was (might be hard considering Treyarch made it) because I don't think even the diehard COD fanboys will put up with another shit title.

As long as bullshit weapon supply drops stay in these games, they'll all be hot garbage. They still have a season pass, so I have no doubt they'll have a supply drop system. COD doesn't do anything that will make them less money besides making progressively shittier games year after year.

I wonder what the kill streak rewards will be for this one. I bet it'll be Attack dog, recon plane, mortar, double machine gun / shotguns killing spree (ripped off from wolfenstein), 7 other things, nuke. Nazi zombies will obviously be a thing, but this is CoD, so I'm expecting a possible Nazi space mission too. CoD can't go full history mode only without having some random futuristic crap involved.

Flamethrower will probably turn into a killstreak. It was the final unlock in WaW and it was OP as hell in small spaces. Recon Plane, Artillery Strike, Dogs would be good guesses. They'd have to go crazy to do much else. They could add pigeon and bat bombs if they don't mind getting harassed by PETA. Panjandrum would be a bit silly.

If this goes the same route as WaW there will only be like 3 kill streaks which will be Recon Plane, Attack Dogs, and Artillery Strike (3, 5, and 7 kills respectively). Then again they might change that up and throw the Flamethrower in there because it was extremely OP in WaW (and a possible bombing run could be thrown in as well, was rather surprised it wasn't in WaW). Then again who knows, considering this is Sledgehammer and not Treyarch things could be completely different (considering the time frame there isn't much else they could do for Killstreaks and nukes wouldn't make sense to the time frame (one thing I give COD is they keep their killstreaks realistic to the time period)).

Zombie mode is a given considering it's been in every COD since WaW introduced it and is pretty much the only selling point for most people outside of the multiplayer.

Sadly, this is too objective based for COD. It will be hard to find a game shortly after release after everyone migrates to TDM. Drift0r's point about stats is everything, people care too much about their K/D to die a lot, in order to help the team win.

LOL @ using the phone for the recon plane XD WTF that looks stupid. I like how this guy experiences what I get in COD games since MW3. A bunch of hitmarkers for him, but instant death when he gets shot.

War mode looks like a bad attempt at battlefield's conquest and overwatch's payload. No CoD player would want to purposefully play that game mode for the objective and get killed endlessly. Instead they'll all sit back with sniper rifles and keep farming newbs. I could barely watch that second video. The endless talking game dialogue annoyed the hell out of me. x_x

Actually you're wrong on that thinking. War mode is not new, it was introduced in World at War and it was the most popular game mode besides TDM (though they made some significant changes to it since WaW, back then it was more like BF Conquest where you fought over flag points. War mode in COD (click this link for more info) ). You should know this DX considering how often I saw you in it (fuck I remember that one match we had against each other in it).

I liked that War mode, it was tons of fun. Now you have to build stuff and then escort the tank. It sounds cool, but Its going to be like Operations in BF1 where no one is playing the objective, and the builders will just get rekt because "Muh KD". Its starts out like zombies almost and ends like Overwatch... I find it laughable YTers are bitching about no killstreaks in it. GTFO, you'd never be able to escort the tank with constant bombing runs on it. That would be like Reinhardt and Junkrat with infinite ults on defense. The WaW War mode was great because while it was objective based, farming kills still got you where you needed to go. So even people that weren't really playing it right were helping. Watching the tide of battle change with that solider meter up top was thrilling.

Yeah, I remember that match, Screw you with that Type 99. XD

Thanks for the link Strider. Those couple clips of WaW looks alot more like battlefield conquest than the War mode in the new CoD. I didn't care much for zombie mode and having to 'build' something. Same with arming a bomb in Search and Destroy. I would get farmed so often. x_x

Against my better judgement I broke down and got this game. My clan has pretty much stopped playing D2 and since I have everything at 305 I don't have any drive to play it right now.

The mutliplayer is pretty meh. Every map is uninspired, everything is a hallway, trench, bunker, or small room. I can barely stay alive long enough to get a kill. Getting 2 without dying feels like an achievement in itself. The TTK is fine, and the guns are ok... but the maps just aren't very good, which has been the case for COD for years now. The social aspect of it is pretty neat, along with the daily and weekly challenges but I think people play War for these as your KD is untouched in that game mode. Quickscoping is back and its annoying as ever. The Lee Enfield is super OP that even I'm good with it. Thats a bad sign, because I've always been hot garbage at sniping in COD.

War is actually really fun. But there are only 3 maps for it sadly. Its a damn shame they came up with something like this only to not really invest in the chance that it could work. Like I said previously it doesn't touch your KD which is good as people care too much about it in COD. You're going to die a lot in this mode unless you're just a selfish prick in which you should be playing TDM or FFA. This comes with a double edged sword though.. I notice people are using their worst guns and I even saw someone use the shovel the entire match... I guess people are going to farm this mode for camo challenges without taking the hit on their KD.

Now to the part where I don't regret buying this... the campaign is fucking amazing. The story is the best in the whole series so far... I'm pretty close to the end, but I'd rank it above Modern Warfare right now. Kudo's to Sledgehammer for such a great narrative story full of insane watershed moments around every corner. The campaign has a mix of everything. Stealth, Jeep chasing, Tank driving, fighter pilot, sniper supporting AI, to the traditional shoot and cover. However this one plays a lot different. You can't just rambo everything or you will die very fast. There is no regenerating health. Instead you rely on med packs that you have to use with its own animation. At first I was distraught over this, but I got use to it pretty fast. Med packs can be found laying around, but also there is a new squad mechanic throughout the story. 4-5 NPCs provide support like this off reasonable cool downs. One will have a med pack available (you can hold up to 4 at a time for about a 60% heal each), another will refill your ammo, one for your nades, one for a mortar strike, and one can highlight enemies out of cover. Not all of these will be available at all times every mission. Even the med pack guy isn't with you at times. This game is stunningly beautiful, and the facial animations are the most life like I've ever seen. All of them look like the actors that play them IRL. The must have mocaped them all, because the show of emotion with the excellent voice acting just brings it to life. I got 5 or 6 hours into it, and I'm sure I'm near the end.... so its about standard COD length, but its still very good.

How is the loot bot/crate microtransaction situation? Is it all cosmetic or does buying them give an advantage in the multiplayer?

Right now there are no guns, but all the big streamers seem to think they'll add them eventually, and I wouldn't doubt it. There are less guns in this game than there were in WAW. Right now its all cosmetics, XP boosters, and unlocks you could buy with your tokens you get from challenges and orders. I got an MG42 variant that gives me 15% more xp per kill. The launch of this game has been a train wreck though. I can't play with friends more than one match without getting booted to the main menu.

I beat the campaign and it didn't disappoint. Overall it's top 3. The end was a bit anti-climatic in how it was done, but it definitely had several memorable moments.
