I played 2 rounds of PvP today, and I'm not a fan of the randomized mode of QP. I didn't like countdown, and I don't like clash. I did enjoy Supremacy, which is basically Kill Confirmed on COD. It's a more cautious game mode. Pulse rifles and side arms worked the best for me. Side arms are super deadly at mid range. ARs felt kinda meh. At least the one I had on me. I wish you could pick the mode, but they probably know less people would pick countdown over control.

So I finally beat the story today and I have to say I'm actually quite impressed with what Bungie did with Destiny 2. Story was great but there were a few low points, as DX said the humor was upped considerably (I now officially love Cayde even more), and the loot is generously doled out as you level (I got 2 exotic engrams before I was even 12, one from a public event and one from a random chest). While I still have problems with the game (there's a few things they didn't change from D1 that irk me and I'm still pissed about the Crucible changes) all in all it's definitely worth a buy and play through if your so inclined (though if you're not willing to pay full price wait until it goes on sale).

Now to start the long and arduous power level grind, ugh.

The grind has gotten the best of me TBH. I seem to be stuck at 283. The exotics that drop for me have all been 283 instead of dropping higher like they have been.. all my legendary weapons are 283-289. Chest piece drops are nearly non-existent for me. I get High Minded Complex Boots and Gloves along with Tone Patrol more than anything. I think I've capped and will have to rely on the reset for the luminous engrams. I've beaten every adventure and mission the game has, and I've looted every lost sector and about 98% of the regional chests. I feel like I got $60 worth out of the game. I'll continue to play casually off the reset.

The best way to level up is being in a clan, because you can get up to 4 more luminous engrams a week without doing anything at all, so long as someone else does the tasks. If your clan beats the raid, you'll get a raid drop from the corresponding clan reward, seemingly same for trails. This is rather interesting. The other two come from a PvP win and Nightfall clear. Being a leech benefits the clan so long as you cap out your weekly clan XP contribution of 5000XP. You can hit it in a few hours of just doing patrols at 250XP a pop or a strike at 500XP a pop.

I tried the first half the raid the other night. All the guys that got me through them in D1 are out of college and have jobs. XD Sadly my work time doesn't match up so I told them to pick up a different 6th person. I got a 284 Shock and Awe fusion rifle out of one of the encounter chests which I boosted to 289 with a mod. I want to infuse it to my Merciless because its the new Gjally of this game, but then my legendary power weapons would be limited. Xur is selling it, you better buy it. XD Anyways, the raid seems to be heavily puzzle oriented. I enjoyed the Bathhouse part, when we figured it out. Apparently it took the streamers the most time to figure out how it worked, we got it in about an hour of wipes. We got stuck in the dog room for much longer and that's when they called it a night. The difference between this raid and the ones I did in D1 is that everyone has to play a part. You can't just take 2-3 of your strongest players to clear a hard part like the Gorgon in VoG or the Bridge on Crota. The puzzles I did required all 6 people to be involved somehow. It was enjoyable, but very time consuming, I saw them on tonight again and they still haven't beaten it. But at least I'll get a raid weapon or armor piece when they eventually figure it all out.

Merciless is insanely OP, Its a fusion rifle that basically shoots fast like the original Pocket Infinity after its first 2 shots. With 9 rounds in the mag its just damn amazing. The catch is the shots can't be lethal for the speed of charge between shots. So for regular mobs its kinda useless, but for majors and other high HP targets, it melts. It comes in handy when the game doesn't put anyone in your instance for the public event. I can get the Cabal Excavation to heroic super easy now, and I can solo Injection Rig. XD Swords and Fusion Rifles are clearly the best Power Weapons. Outside of the Hawthorne shotgun, all the other ones have been pretty shit that I've gotten. I have a 283 Sun Shot and Gravaton Lance now. I really want to get my hands on the new Hard Light. Outside of these I don't really love any of the other weapons. I infused my MIDA into my Call to Serve because I couldn't get Nameless Midnight to drop for me... everyone on reddit says its amazing. I liked Uriels Gift too, but I'll need a 280+ Sweet Business or Hardlight to drop to make it worth a damn. The hand cannons are kind of lackluster outside of Sunshot which is basically Fatebringer with a pretty skin. I kinda miss ole Red Death, damn thing would be pretty handy in some of these solo adventures I have with Heroic Events. And thanks to Bungie's hard-on for PvP balance we'll never see Ice Breaker or Invective return.

I made a Titan and got him to 20. Its amazing how much Warlock gets in this game. The best jump and Healing Rift are amazing advantages in PvE. Blink and Empowering rift for PvP. I do like Striker Titan's 2 grenade option, but barrier sucks for PvE... its actually pretty garbage. The AI will flank you or walk right through it to continue damaging you, and unless you pick a subclass tree that grants healing off a melee kill, you'll die unless you try to run for cover. The smaller barrier that reloads your weapons automatically is nice until something gets in your face and you have to move, only to try and come back for the auto reload not to work anymore... oh and Warlock has an exotic armor piece that grants party reloading with rifts... so there is that too. Just about anything another class can do, Warlock can with an armor piece or just an ability. They really should add more utility to the other two classes some how. Taking away the bubble, and making it a alt super was bad enough, then you can't shoot from inside of it.  I haven't unlocked the 3rd subclass, but two of Titan's supers are pretty subpar in PvE because half the important targets fly and float, making ground pound useless, and you can't spam the shield throw, it has like a 2-3 second cool down. Striker is super weak too... I mean it clears more adds and works in PvP, but against heavy targets you might get a bit of DPS in until a Cabal or Vex stomp you and send you flying away while your super drains. I wish they had the one big smash option similar to Hunter getting different options on Golden Gun.

On another note, I picked up Nameless Midnight from Zavala, and holy crap is it amazing. I'll redo the Mida quest on my Titan and infuse it into this gun. It shoots just as fast, and kills almost any small target in one shot like a hand cannon.

I have all 3 classes in the 290s. Titan just doesn't do it for me on this game. The Hammer of Sol is a cool subclass, but the other two feel like crap. I like Hunter better, but they really should just give it 3 types of triple jump becasue PvE just requires big jumps everywhere. I feel like most these subclasses were made for PvP. Arc Strider is practically useless against a lot of foes on PvE, they all run away and then your shit runs out. Same goes for most of Titan's stuff.

I've noticed all my hardcore friends stopped playing, they never have beaten the raid. I guess getting tokens to buy raid stuff really turned them off or something. This game is a lot more casual friendly.. the powerful gear isn't locked behind raids and nightfalls. Its all RnG and weekly resets. It works for me. I think the raid could use a bit better rewards... but not playing because the best gear is locked behind a weekly reset is a bit of an asinine excuse. Nothing was enjoyable about that. I have all but 3 exotic weapons in my collection, the armor is a bit harder to come by.

I'm still playing so its doing something right.

Double jump is more then enough to get anywhere with a Hunter if you know what you're doing, triple jump is worthless unless you need a little more precision with your jumps (like getting that last Cayde chest on Io). Yea I know I'm a Hunter main but double jump is perfect the way it is, in fact I had to completely learn how to use Warlock's jump last night when I started it (took me forever to remember how it actually worked). I'll agree Arc Strider sucks, it's good for stun locking major's and yellow bars (and it's pretty effective in Crucible if you know what you're doing) but outside of that it's pretty meh. I actually enjoy Nightstalker, didn't think I would but I run with it constantly unless I'm doing something that requires my Golden Gun/Celestial Nighthawk combo. My only real issue with Hunter's is all their grenades suck except the Arc Bolt grenade.

Most hardcore players aren't happy with the current state of things because the game is extremely casual with nothing for hardcore players to do. Almost every major streamer who plays Destiny cleared the 290's week 1, finished the raid the week it came out, have gone flawless in Trials every week, and have every piece of armor and every weapon in the game. Once you hit that mark what is there to do. With the Prestige raid coming out I think either this week or next week (not entirely sure) its the only piece of content they'll have to do (which most will have done right away). This token system kinda sucks. I have no choice in what gear I get, it's all rng based the engram and it sucks. Yea, it's a lot more accessible and easier to get gear now (unless you're stuck behind the soft cap (which I am, stuck at 272 right now) but I miss having a choice of buying what I want or need (my hunter looks like I went through a thrift store and bought the cheapest pieces of armor I could find. I really want the whole Crucible set because it's the best looking hunter gear (outside of the Trials gear) but I keep getting stuck with the same pieces of gear every time I turn in enough tokens for a rank up). I'm also not a fan of this wear whatever increases your PL mentality. Considering my Legendary Mark drought I can't continually infuse gear so I can keep the pieces I like and it sucks because I'll get pieces I like but I have to scrap them because they're useless and I need the legendary marks (I have shit luck with legendary engram drops, almost all of my legendaries come from rep turn ins and powerful engrams). Bungie needs to rework a few of these systems but they are by no means turning me away from the game, just gripes I have.

Bungie did a lot of things right with this game but they dropped the ball on quite a few other things. The game being more casual is great for the longevity of this game (new players will constantly rolli in) but isolating you're hardcore base is going to fuck them in the long run if they don't remedy it. The hardcore community is what kept D1 alive and for Bungie to just abandon them in D2 with hopes of bringing in more players for more money is fucked up (yea, business and all but still). Most hardcore players have gone into casual mode hoping that Curse of Osiris brings in hardcore options so they can play again.

The token system is the only thing that keeps people playing TBH. The pull of the first game was buying the same gun over and over in hopes to get that god roll. Now that guns are set in stone in their perks, if you could buy everything as you wanted, even casuals will run out of things to do. Maybe they should have kept random rolls? They should have made more weapons that's for sure. Once you have Better Devils and Nameless Midnight, you basically are set for kinetic weapons. There isn't much better in those slots besides MIDA.

I think its more of the lack of gear diversity than anything else. I mean once Prestige Raid comes out, how much less content is there to do for hardcore players than D1? Unless I'm missing something, its about the same at this point in the game's life. D1 had Raid Hard Mode and Nightfall. D2 will have Raid Prestige, Nightfall Prestige, and Trials of the Nine. Essentially one more piece of content since Trials came out half way through D1's lifespan. Maybe a lot of hardcore came in half way through when there were more raids to do and Prison of Elders. I dunno.

Bungie hurt themselves with PvP as well. 4v4 should have been reserved for Trails, and they could have made it a regular playlist mode, but when you raid with 6 people, and then can only PvP with 4 of them, it ends up being pretty bad when you have to leave 2 people out. I enjoyed PvP when it was 6v6. Now running around hoping to flank someone for an easy win or hoping I don't get flanked for an guaranteed death isn't as enjoyable.

I think the game could fix a lot by bringing out 6v6 maps for PvP, having the Raid and Trails drop 300 gear, and giving Xur better stuff. Xur seems utterly pointless. His currency is super easy to obtain and he doesn't have anything special you can't get farming Public Events. They also cap at 270 regardless of your power level. That also goes back to the gear they launched the game with. Grenade launchers are shit, but we get 2 exotic ones, and no exotic sword or linear fusion rifle? I'm glad to see some old favorites return as weapons and armor, but they should have been extra on top of new ones that took their spot. I also find a lot of the exotic perks to be underwhelming.

See I don't honestly care about weapons so they can stay on the token system (I have the weapons I'm most comfortable with right now. I main Scathelock (change it out for the DO hand cannon when I feel like it), Hardlight, and currently a random heavy I got from the gunsmith), what I want is the ability to buy the armor sets without needing to try my fucking luck (I'm fine with the exotic system so they can leave that in place, though I'd appreciate Bungie not giving me Lucky Pants every fucking time I get an exotic hunter armor piece). Since armor has nothing to do with the game anymore outside of giving you a choice between the three main stats I don't see a problem with selling it outright. Hell they can sell in at 10 armor and force us to infuse, I'm okay with that. Armor is nothing more then fashion now so the fucking retarded lock behind rep tokens is stupid. Want to keep them behind tokens? Fine, give me a set amount of tokens I need to use as currency and I'll go grind them (I, hate me all you want, actually enjoy 4v4 Crucible. I thought it'd be horrible but I've been enjoying the hell out of it (besides grinding out Call to Arms which thankfully is no longer a 8-9 game grind anymore). Don't get me wrong I'd love 6v6 again (come on make Iron Banana 6v6)). All Strider wants is for his Hunter to not looking like a fucking hobo.

Meh, most of the Destiny streamers I watch (which are all hardcore) don't really care about gear diversity. Sure they'd like raid specific perks since the armor isn't exactly easy to come by if you don't have a raid team but they honestly don't care about that. They're bitching more about the fact that there is nothing for them to do. It was a lot harder to get things in D1, as we all know so well. Getting gear was a bitch if you didn't have the god of rng luck on your side and exotics were damn near impossible to get your hands on. This is the stuff they miss, the stuff they want. Like I said most hardcore players have everything in the game they want, be it all weapons or armor. There's nothing to work towards anymore. Sure a lot of these hardcore players had everything in D1 but not on every character. Teawrex, with the exception of a few pieces of class specific armor, has every weapon in the game with the exception of two rare drop raid weapons and all the armor pieces he wants (on all three classes). This is barely a month after launch and the guy has everything (again what he wants). I know of no one who had that a month after the D1 launch or even after any of the DLC launches. This goes to show just how casual the game is now (not a bad thing believe me, I'm just voicing things from their perspective having been a hardcore WoW player for 6 years). Most hardcore Destiny players feel they got kicked in the nuts and left on the ground suffering. Don't get me wrong most still love the game but most hate the fact that they now have to twiddle their thumbs until these weekly and monthly events happen (Faction Rally and Iron Banana (Banner)) to tie them over until Curse of Osiris launches. It's a double edged sword for Bungie that they still haven't learned to balance yet (they fucked up majorly with D1 and while they haven't fucked up with D2 they're off to somewhat a bad start with the community that kept D1 alive for so long).

Shit I didn't even visit Xur this week since I knew he was selling shit (I'll get the Risk Runner on my Warlock when she gets that far). I'd rather keep my shards for infusion since my luck with legendary and exotic drops suck. They do need to work on his offerings though because they're not all that special (though I was happy he was selling Merciless and Wardcliff the last two weeks).

I hate you right now. Hard Light is the only exotic I want that I don't have. The other two are the shitty grenade launchers. I saw a video the other day where health recovery was the best stat basically and the other two are marginal at best. Maybe it was a few patches ago, but after thinking about it, for me its the best stat. I'll leave you with this tho. XD

You'll hate me even more to hear I've gotten two of them, one from an exotic engram and my current one from my Call to Arms powerful engram.

Oh Devour locks are broken. Tea runs Devour exclusively on his and I've seen what you can do with them. You're pretty much immortal as long as you have a nice recovery stack and keep Devour up. I know I'll be running it on my lock when I unlock Voidwalker.

Yeah I didn't know about Call to Arms until this week because I let it sit on the first milestone that just offered a blue engram. -_-; After grinding it out on all 3 characters. I do like crucible a lot now. I prefer Supremacy and Survival. I have Martyr's Make on my Hunter and that thing is OP AF. Its got some serious range and stability. I was getting doubles and triple downs with it. I do like that Autos are king right now. I guess I'll enjoy it while it lasts. People can bitch about MIDA, but honestly I beat it out most of the time. A lot of the maps are too confined for MIDA to shine... the Mini-Tool is a different story. XD. I just got VALAKADYN on my Warlock and I heard that is one of the better ones as well. Scathelock is ok, I don't like it as much as Martyr's, but its still serviceable. Still no Hardlight, but I did get a 304 Better Devils so I'm happy about that. When playing with a group were we communicate its pretty fun, but when I play solo its a toss up. Sometimes i get a group that sticks together, but when I see that one guy run off as fast as he can, I know its pretty much a loss.

The Nightfall this week is complete bullshit. I don't know how its even possible without that anomaly exploit, even then you probably need 3 devour warlocks with cold heart and swords. Sadly I'm the only one in my current group that runs a Warlock. We were able to get the boss to 1/3rd HP on our best run. Everything being shielded is BS along with how fast they regen it. The insane amount of HP sponges long with the lengthy dialog sections where you can't progress until they shut the fuck up is infuriating. I'd honestly prefer the old school no wipe rule over the time limit. Having to run to regain your health is ass without devour.

Scathelock is amazing if you have it set up right. Then again I don't have access to anything better atm (Scathelock is my highest Kinetic weapon besides Vigilance Wing and while I like VW I prefer Hard Light as my exotic (and I still have a distaste for Pulse Rifles after D1)). I get shit rng for engrams (both normal and powerful), it's getting ridiculous. I want a fucking Better Devils but it never drops.

See I prefer Control and Clash, I feel they're better designed for the smaller maps we have. Supremacy takes to fucking long and if your team doesn't work together ends up being a fucking steamroll. Survival and Countdown are the same way. Since I have no one to actually play with due to play times I prefer the two modes that don't require constant communication, where lone wolfing it is actually viable. I'm really looking forward to IB next week though, should actually get me playing the game more consistently for the week (even though I go back to work on Monday).

Hmmm, the nightfall really didn't look that bad this week then again I've been watching streamers do it. Last night Tea did 6 runs (three normal, three prestige) with some rather interesting team comps. They're fastest Prestige run was done with two Striker Titans and I believe a Void Warlock (not entirely sure, was half paying attention to it). Pulse nades are too fucking powerful and made the nightfall a joke (I watched them take out an ultra ogre with two pulse nades). Meh, I still haven't tried to do a Nightfall since it sounds like Guided Games isn't really that great (plus wait times are pretty bad I hear). Then again I have no real interest in it. I do my Flashpoint and Call to Arms every week and that's good enough for me (especially considering new patch for FFXIV next week), I go up about 3-4 PL ever week. Not a lot but it's good enough growth for me (276 now when I have my best shit equipped) since I don't raid, participate in Trials, or do either Nightfall.

Iron Banner, but its not like it matters, there are no level advantages in any PvP, even Trials. As casual as this game is, this is one thing I don't stand by. There is literally nothing for hardcore players to do outside of Prestige Raid and Nightfall as Strider has said. Once I got The Forward Path on my first engram, I was done with IB because Control is such a shit game mode, with half the maps completely unbalanced towards one flag side.  The map that takes place on the Leviathan is such a joke, its crazy how it got passed testing. If you start on A flag, you pretty much automatically have a win unless you're team is organized and can take the flag from them. A has a straight line of sight and travel to B, while C has a closed off door way with a chasm, and no real flanks to A all your paths are narrow hallways leading to an exit that the team at A can see and shut down.

I've started continuously finishing at the top of my matches. My weapons help out a lot as I have all the best Auto rifles. But If I'm by myself I still lose more than win because while my K/D is around 2.5-4 on average per match, I'll get a team that all go 0.5 or worse. I only do PvP for my weekly powerful engrams which is around 15 matches (5 per character). Thankfully losses count towards that progression or it would be a lot more.

Yea, IB was a joke (though it made getting Call to Arms done easier since everyone was doing it). I honestly feel Bungie should of never touched IB and left it as it was because I had no fun doing IB last week (fuck I just did it so I could get Call to Arms done). IB was the pinnacle of what Bungie did right with D1 PvP wise (and I fucking enjoyed it, its the only thing I missed about playing D1 when I quit) and to see it stripped to just a casual, monthly crucible event saddens me greatly. I love the ease of access this game gives us casual players but I'm really starting to think Bungie went to far with it's casual friendliness.

If it wasn't for the $60 I paid for this game I would of quit playing it after last week (IB really was that disappointing). I'm officially out of stuff to do by myself (Nightfalls are only fun with friends and I don't have a Clan or raid team to do the raid with). The only thing driving me to continue playing is getting my PL to at least 300 (I'm 283 as of last week) and after that nothing. I feel no need to take my Warlock up anymore (where in D1 I actually felt like doing it because, while flawed, I enjoyed the leveling process in D1 a lot more) because I honestly don't want to do the grind all over again (yes I know it's easier to gain power with your second and third characters but I just don't see the point).

Don't get me wrong I stand by my earlier impressions, D2 is definitely the game D1 should of been and is the superior version of the game and is definitely worth purchasing for the story (though I'd wait for it to go down in price) but I find myself getting more pissed off with the lack of content in D2 the I ever was with D1. It seems Bungie learns from past mistakes but continually develops new ways to continually fuck up.

For me the biggest disappointment is the weapons. I have all the good stuff (except Hard Light still -_-). Foward Path, Martyr's Make, Valakadyn, Nameless Midnight, Better Devils, Ureil's Gift/The Number, Merciless, A Complex Solution, Vigilance Wing, A Time Worn Spire, Rat King, etc. The "new" weapons on the faction rally were just reskins of other weapons with a different static perk. Grenade Launchers a shit, and I kinda miss LMGs. If there were way more weapons, there would still be something to grind for. I wasn't expecting a Borderlands level of quantity, but I was hoping for at least triple of what we had. Again, it goes back to PvP balance holding back the PvE aspect. It seems to be a common theme in every game I like these days. I really am missing Ice Breaker right now.

Nightfall's aren't really that fun to me, they are just means to an end to get powerful gear. The time limit thing is pretty meh, the no wipe rule was more thrilling. Now when everyone wipes, everyone sits there for 25 seconds or more, because if you respawn solo, you'll likely die instantly when you take on all the aggro on the boss. Normal strikes are pretty pointless because public events are just as rewarding and you can do 4-5 of them in the time it takes one strike. They should have make strike specific loot. The only strikes I've played are the 2 I needed on each character to unlock the nightfall, and the nightfalls.

I think someone on reddit said it best that the token system is a great support mechanic, but shouldn't have been the main loot drop mechanic. Prestige mode should have had its own loot. I don't think anything should have had a better power level as  most these people that play this content indicate... it should have had unique weapons and armor though. There should have been more Exotic bounties as well. I actually enjoyed the MIDA/Sturm/Rat King quests. They were reasonable, and took a decent effort to obtain.... well MIDA was super easy, but that's besides the point.

Nah. I had 2 of my characters to 305 last week and got my Warlock to 305 this week as I was waiting for a bond to drop to finish it off. Now I don't have anything to do and will probably only play on Tuesdays unless someone needs me for a nightfall run. If they make the raid the only way to get max level in the DLC, I'll probably quit playing though. While there is 8-9 people in my clan, no one is ever on at the same time long enough to even do the first raid. I don't think they'll do this, but there is speculation now that updates on all 3 platforms will be simultaneously released. Then again if they want to keep selling to casuals, they probably won't if they keep the level and power requirements to do missions and content in place.

I think the light increase will give me another reason to grind. There is a some quality of life updates coming out soon that will fix a lot of empty instances for solo players, and improved rewards for strikes, which will be good. I'd like to run strikes with friends, but we all agree there is no point right now when you can just farm public events for the same thing.

I think its pretty cool everyone will get to see the lighthouse now that never could get to it in D1, learning about Osiris will be cool, but I'm more excited for the second DLC and Rasputin. You actually reactivate a war mind network on Io which gives Rasputin expanded access to the solar system. There is a side adventure I mentioned earlier that dealt with this. If you're interested in how it may connect here is a neat video.

I'll only take back Invective and Ice Breaker if they make them energy weapons instead of Power Weapons, keeping them in the power category will effectively nerf why these weapons were so good in D1. Yes, putting them into the energy category will nerf them anyways but holding them in the power slot is just fucking retarded (one of the main reasons I hate the new weapon classes, they should of kept the old ones. As someone who likes to play long range they effectively killed my play style when they forced snipers into the power category).

I already knew Thorn would be coming back, especially considering how the story has been unfolding (we're working our way to another huge Hive/Taken expansion and I'm pretty much going to guarantee that it's going to be along the lines of Taken King (two Strikes in the game give this away if you are confused as to what I'm referencing here)). Plus, considering how sought after it was in D1, they'd be dumb not to put it back in. Not that it matters, there are far better weapons in D2 than the old Thorn and pending on it's changes I highly doubt people will use it over the more favored weapons currently in the game (especially Crucible, the current meta pretty much shits on hand cannons (with the exception of Better Devils)).

Outside of the story elements I'm not looking forward to the DLC. 5 more levels to grind, yet another PL grind that I'll never reach due to PL game mechanics screwing people like me who play alone and are not in a clan (and that will not change, even with some of these QoL changes), and just honestly the weekly grind isn't really fun anymore. I won't buy this until my friend gives me his impressions on it since he'll be getting when it releases.
