Humble Square Enix Bundle

4 posts in this topic

I've passed on buying bundles for a while now because with the backlog of games I have now, it seems almost pointless to buy any more games, even on sale. But I've always loved Square Enix RPGs such as Final Fantasy.. but this bundle is full of games from franchises I've never played. What do you guys think about this bundle? I might be interested in it depending on what games get added to it next Tuesday.

I would've thought about posting this later when they added the rest of the games if it wasn't posted about by then. But here are the ones I know.

  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - I got this free from Xbox's Games With Gold. I found it interesting as time waster until I got to the giant rolling pin of death.
  • Hitman: Absolution - I got this free from both PS Plus & Games With Gold. I've never played the other Hitman games which I've read are better. I've enjoyed this till I got lazy & refused to do a shooting gallery mini game. Just killing people with Piano Wire was way more fun for me.
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution - I got this free from PS Plus. I don't remember if it was the Director's Cut or not. I really enjoyed sneaking around during the tutorial. But after getting into the actual missions I had the urge to kill everyone with my robotic arms. I'm looking forward to becoming death proof & killing everyone with my robotic arms. Well assuming I can mod the PC version to do that.
  • Just Cause 2 - I got this free from PS Plus. And I have to say JC2 is way more fun than GTA5. JC2 even has similar gameplay mechanics to GTA5 minus submarines & sharks. But even better as JC2 has multiple islands so boats can have an actual use of getting somewhere. Its so huge it might make Skyrim feel bad about its Dragons you can only ride & its boats that are stuck in docking positions. JC2 makes cars surfing fun instead of a mini game like Saints Row because now you can shoot & not worry about falling off. JC2 has a grappling hook like Link & Batman, but unlike those 2 it also doubles as a way to hook 2 items together to cause all kinds of chaos. However this game falls apart in story progression due to needing to cause chaos just like how Saints Row 1 & 2 require you to earn Respect before you can actually play the next mission.

I'm kind of hoping they'll add the first Just Cause to this list of games. Even though JC2 is basically already that. But with better graphics.

Hitman: Blood Money, Just Cause, Hitman: Contracts, & The Last Remnant have now been added to this bundle. This probably should've been named The Humble Eidos Bundle since none of these games make me think Square Enix.

*Edit*

Correction The Last Remnant is a JRPG. So it could remind me of Square Enix. But I've never heard of it before.

The Just Cause games look like alot of fun. I agree about the Eidos part. I'm surprised they didn't throw some more Tomb Raider games into this. The Last Remnant looks surprisingly decent.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.

Am I the only one suffering from steam sale fatigue? Maybe its just me but ever since they changed the store to the design it is now nothing in the store appeals to me anymore. Its probably because of the massive influx of every game from every independent developer. Theres so many games on there that I never look at what new games came out anymore because in any given week 40+ new games were released and 250+ games are listed in their weekly sales. I stopped looking and only pay attention to humble bundle sales now. Even with the steam sale going on now I don't see any huge sale thats leaping out at me to take my money anymore. Sure I still have a backlog of games but there seems to be less and less new AAA or indie games that I'm interested in for PC. Unless its a game I want for console I hardly look at the steam store anymore even though I use steam on a daily basis.
