Gravitational Waves from Big Bang Detected

Recommended Posts

Physicists have found a long-predicted twist in light from the big bang that represents the first image of ripples in the universe called gravitational waves, researchers announced today. The finding is direct proof of the theory of inflation, the idea that the universe expanded extremely quickly in the first fraction of a nanosecond after it was born. What’s more, the signal is coming through much more strongly than expected, ruling out a large class of inflation models and potentially pointing the way toward new theories of physics, experts say.

“This is huge,” says Marc Kamionkowski, professor of physics and astronomy at Johns Hopkins University, who was not involved in the discovery but who predicted back in 1997 how these gravitational wave imprints could be found. “It’s not every day that you wake up and find out something completely new about the early universe. To me this is as Nobel Prize–worthy as it gets.”

Like the guy said.. this is huge. Instead of calling it "The Big Bang Theory" we could be calling it "The Big Bang" - Fact.

But Gravity is still a Theory....

....

I mean its still called a Theory even though its a Fact. Just because its now a Fact doesn't mean its stops being a Theory. Otherwise Theory ends up meaning something like Opinion which it isn't.

Those who fight deplorables should see to it that they themselves do not become deplorables.

Click the link for the rest of the article. Its quite interesting. It'll be the first time stem cells will be injected into brain dead people. If this actually works, these people could be brought back.. but would they still be the same people after technically being dead? Of course conspiracy theorists are already predicting the zombie apocalypse will happen because of this.

Since no one has posted about this debate that happened last Tuesday I guess I might as well. But its a long debate. And if you just want a short answer from an atheist there's always TYT.

But onto the actual debate its pretty long so don't say I didn't warn you or didn't notice the length in the bottom right.

Stand aside Morgan Freeman, Neil deGrasse Tyson will now explain the COSMOS. This trailer shows some nice images of space, but doesn't go into any detail about the series. I'm looking forward to this series.
