PS4 and Xbox One privacy

Recommended Posts

http://www.gamesradar.com/sony-updates-ps4s-terms-service-remove-your-privacy-jk-you-never-had-any-begin/

Take a look back at the user agreement for both the Vita and the PS3 and you'll see they all detail Sony’s right to monitor messages on PSN, and that’s continuing with the PS4. When terms of service says “[W]e reserve the right in our sole discretion to monitor and record any or all of your PSN activity,” that’s merely the company making more clear the online policy that’s been in place all along.

Shocked that a game company would do something like this? Well, if you're planning on playing a next-gen console, you're going to have to get used to it. Here’s Xbox One’s eerily similar to the statement on the service: “You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features (for example, voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions) offered through the Xbox Live/Games for Windows-Live service.” Both are acknowledging the realities of 2013, a time when governments (or companies) can do basically whatever they want in the name of security.

This doesn't really surprise me.. I assumed they'd have full access to all the info stored on their servers. Just like Facebook and every other site. As long as they don't sell my information then I'm content with them knowing what games I play.

This is one instance that I support this type of intrusion. There actually is a pretty good reason they do this and its simply to cover their ass. There are child predators resorting to these gaming services now to lure in their prey. You also have all the death threats to keep tabs on in case some nut job makes good on it. By keeping all the records they can investigate and/or hand over all records to authorities.

http://www.wtfiwwp.com/story.php?title=man-kills-friend-over-call-of-duty-argument -_-; They original news link is gone for this story, this is the best i could dig up

http://www.allaboutthegames.co.uk/feature_story.php?headline=Xbox-Murder--Man-Kills-Acquaintance-While-Playing-Videogame-News&article_id=9061 another, same story

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/man-stabbed-22-times-tempers-flare-xbox-live-argument-article-1.1127305 man stabbed 22 times over XBL arugment

In a lighter note.. I feel sorry for who ever has to sort through COD records... not only is it raunchy and offensive, but the lack of grammar, spelling, and increase use of slang is unbearable.

I've been watching my brother's streams when I can. He was owning some people with C4 while playing as Recon. I need to play this. The fact that snipers have C4 is huge to me. :D Its a shame the twitch.tv streaming has no audio. Looks like its an EA / BF4 issue.

He unlocked the EOD Bot and he said the controls are much better now compared to BF3. He was even able to drive it up some stairs. :P

I need to find a PS4 on black friday... :err:

EDIT

*realized I'm posting about BF4 everywhere* lmao! XD

I think we hijacked many posts about BF4 XD XD

I'm glad to hear this... the controls were so bad in BF3, I'd always try to roll in to a group of people in a straight line with the torch active hoping to luck out because if I had to turn or hit a bump it was all over. :P

      https://blog.playstation.com/2022/03/29/all-new-playstation-plus-launches-in-june-with-700-games-and-more-value-than-ever/
PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now are merging into the new PlayStation Plus and the membership will now become a tiered system:

I'll be sticking with PlayStation Plus Essential assuming I can still buy yearly memberships on sale for around $30-$40 like I've been doing since before the PS4 launched. I'm barely getting any use out of PS+ as it is with the games they've been offering for the last year so if I have to start paying a monthly fee I'll just cancel it instead.
In comparison to the PS+ Extra, I've recently used Xbox PC game pass which I got a 3 month trial for $1 on black friday weekend last year. I don't have an Xbox so I was only using the lowest tier of the PC version which I suppose is the Microsoft Xbox PC version of PlayStation Plus Extra. It is an ok service but with the amount of time I have to dedicate to gaming I was only able to play and beat 2 games in those 3 months. I'm glad the xbox pc game pass came with EA Access since I was able to play and beat Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. EA Access itself didn't appeal to me because on the PC game pass its basically 70% sports titles. I was also able to play and beat Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and that game wasn't nearly as good as the first. Both games retail for around $14 and $7 when on sale so I saved roughly $20 with my $1 free trial. But if it was to pay $10 a month for the service I would have been in the hole $9 compared to if I bought those 2 games instead. For me and my available time to play games a subscription service is not a savings to me. Theres alot of people that could benefit from a game subscription service and I'm glad its an option for them.
I will say tho, for people that have an Xbox console and a game subscription service is beneficial to them, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has console and pc game pass combined along with xbox games with gold free monthly games, and that is a far better deal that PlayStation Plus Deluxe for the same price of $14.99 a month. The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes console and pc games that can be played from the cloud too kind of like Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming.

Do any of you use a specific VPN service for privacy? If so do you recommend a specific company? My older brother uses PureVPN life time subscription and swears by it. He has all his PC's setup with it and his family's cell phones via an app. I'm not as concerned about my privacy, google already knows everything already.. but when I want to download specific things I'll use windscribe's free vpn. I've been using it off and on for a couple months and it seems to work great so far without affecting my download rates too much. I noticed this deal earlier today and I upgraded my 10 gb/month plan to 60 gb. Heres the link:
      https://slickdeals.net/f/10310132-windscribe-vpn-free-60gb-per-month-new-or-existing-accounts
Windscribe is decent since it has a browser extension for quick toggling private browsing and a separate software that applies to everything running on the PC. Anyone else have a VPN recommendation?
