Xbox One: Invitation

I blame NeoGAF and all their fear mongering rumors. :P lol. However, I think both the consoles will have launch issues and they're both being rushed to make the christmas sales. Whatever issues the consoles launch with will probably be resolved within 6 months is my guess.

It'll be interesting to see. I bought a PS3 at launch and had no issues with it, its the only system I ever purchased at launch. I've gone through 3 xbox 360s, but that was hardware related issues. I think Sony has their stuff together better. They've taken a few hits recently with some launch exclusives being delayed and some features not being available at start, but as long as everything that is available works correctly It should be a good go.

I can comment on the dropping parties on Xbox One... that happened on 360 from time to time, where the party automatically disbanded, or people were kicked out one at a time, booted and rejoined. It sounds like a recurring issue, but if it happens as little as it did on 360 it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

The party system on PS3 was much simpler. It didn't really exist. :haha:

The only way I could play a game with someone is if I joined them in a game they were already in, or got an invite. I think there was a way to join up with friends in PS home and then launch the game from there, but I only used PS Home maybe 3 times.

I remember getting a Super NES a couple days after launch.. a friend of mine got it on launch day and called me to rub it in..

Friend: "Hi... huh?... oh... yeah..." *acting busy and preoccupied even though he called me* "Guess what I'm playing?"

*the volume turns up with sounds of mario jumping in the background and spinning his cape*

Me: "I hate you."

XD

I remember my best launch console. The Dreamcast.. I pre-ordered it on a site called E-Toys and it was delivered on launch day with free shipping. That was a great day. ^_^

And the next console I got after that was a PS2 after it was already out for close to two years. And then I got a PS3 just 1 1/2 years ago. lol. I haven't had a console at launch or close to launch since the dreamcast so it doesn't bother me if I have to wait a few months or even half a year for a PS4. I won't wait 5 years like I did with the PS3 tho. :P

Hopefully they ripped off XBL's model. I remember before 360 had party chat, there was only private chat... so if more than 2 friends were playing we had to listen to all the douchebages and 12 year olds playing COD -_-;. I'd always mute my mic and turn the chat volume all the way down when I played by myself. Party Chat was a godsend, you only had to listen to your friends and thats it.

They probably will have them fixed in about 6 months, but if you buy on launch and have a hardware problem, your either screwed or have to wait a month or two to get it back from Microsoft

My brother got a Wii U and plays "classic Mario" on it, told him to give me the Wii U and he can use the NES that's in the basement lol

Yea I agree, it was either a bunch of 5 year old's or a bunch of adults arguing about something stupid like which superhero could beat who in a fight

That comic.. lmao. What a waste of a new console. XD

I've never used a windows 8 phone so I don't know if apps ask for certain permissions when installing like they do on android phones.. but with the way the xbox one (or PS4) share user details to its affiliates and partners, I wonder how long it will be before apps are required to show their permissions on a console. Like on my phone, I can see what the netflix app is accessing on my phone, but I have no idea what permissions it has on a PS3. And with both console's having camera options, I'd like to know if a facebook or twitter app has camera or storage permissions. Same with username and full contact information access. If I have my real name on my PS4 for PSN purchases, I'd like to not let twitter associate my real name with my twitter account just because I install the app and then it accesses that information from my system without my knowledge or consent.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.

Am I the only one suffering from steam sale fatigue? Maybe its just me but ever since they changed the store to the design it is now nothing in the store appeals to me anymore. Its probably because of the massive influx of every game from every independent developer. Theres so many games on there that I never look at what new games came out anymore because in any given week 40+ new games were released and 250+ games are listed in their weekly sales. I stopped looking and only pay attention to humble bundle sales now. Even with the steam sale going on now I don't see any huge sale thats leaping out at me to take my money anymore. Sure I still have a backlog of games but there seems to be less and less new AAA or indie games that I'm interested in for PC. Unless its a game I want for console I hardly look at the steam store anymore even though I use steam on a daily basis.

Powered by the same GPU as the Nvidia Shield and a couple smart phones and chromebooks, (and not as powerful as current gen consoles or even close to gaming PCs), the Nintendo NX will use the Nvidia Tegra as a GPU/CPU combo for a handheld console with detachable controllers. It will also come with a home base that you can plug into to play the console on the TV. It will still play cartridges.
My guess is that it will look like the Wii U controller, except with detachable nunchuck controllers on the sides. I would photoshop something to look like that but I need a new photo editing program. ehh.

The Tegra is a decent chip, but I don't see Nintendo competing with Sony or Microsoft at this point anymore. Its like they are doubling down on their handheld market, which makes sense to me. They know how to make good handhelds and they sell. But if this is all true it seems a bit too gimmicky to me. The Wii and Wii U was all targeted at families and party games, but this is obviously targeted toward individuals and solo players. If the screen is the normal size of a cell phone and its meant to run games all the time, I wonder how hot the thing will get and if it'll need to be recharged every 2 hours.
