Alienware X51 Gaming PC with Ubuntu

Its nice to see Alienware making Linux gaming systems. The prices still need to come down a bit more to really pull more sales away from the consoles.

I doubt they'll ever be able to compete price wise. For one, Alien ware is overpriced. My ASUS runs BF3 at max and It was just as good as the best alienware on the market at that time and half its price. You can build your own for a lot cheaper as well if you're willing to put in the work... it certainly isn't difficult unless you sucked at legos and kenects as a kid.

But even then, Microsoft and Sony subsidize the price of their machines through software and virtual purchases. PC manufactures cannot afford to take a loss on their machines or parts. Plus you are guaranteed that your machine will consistently run new games for 5-8 years without the need to upgrade anything.

The only advantage PC gaming has right now is bundles and half off sale prices, but if it wasn't for consoles and piracy, the state of PC gaming wouldn't be in the shape it is now. lol

Sony and MS must be making some decent money through transactions through their stores. Just like Steam keeps rolling in the money. Its a shame they have to rely on those transactions for revenue. If either of the new consoles had a Steam app, PC gaming would take a huge hit. Hell, if the new xbox had a steam app, I'd pre-order that system pretty quick. It would be the best of both worlds. Cheap games purchased off steam and a console with great hardware specs.

It would also be a way to put the ultimate pound down on Gamestop. Why go buy a used game for $48 at gamestop when you don't have to leave home and pay $20-30 instead?

Exactly. With all the great steam sales, the consoles would probably put gamestop out of business if they had a steam app. It would put an end to used games too. If you buy it off steam for 50% off, then the game company would get all the profit. Instead they charge full price and people resell it back to gamestop and all profit off those used games all goes to Gamestop. I'm honestly surprised companies aren't pushing the new console developers into adding a steam app just to increase their own profits. But the companies are mostly greedy. PSN digital download games never go on sale to the extent that the same games would on steam. Hell, I regretted buying Worms Reloaded on PS3 just because of the prices. About a month after I bought it on sale on PSN, steam had it for 50% off including all dlc. I ended up buying the game again because it ran better on my laptop.

The XBL arcade store has sales here and there. In the summer they generally have an "summer of arcade" where 5 XBLA games come out, buying them all will run you the price of 1 new major title game, but generally if you buy them all you either get a 6th game free, or you get a discount on the bundle. However 2010 was the only one that really interested me. http://www.giantbomb.com/summer-of-arcade-2010/3015-5553/

Limbo and Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light were amazing.

Yeah, but compared to those humble bundles, no console sale will compare to PC prices. :crap:

I still need to play Limbo. I got that back in one of the Humble Bundles for $1.

Now that I've been playing the most recent Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light looks like a game I would like to play.

I bet all it'll do is turn off all the background apps that Windows 10 loves to re-enable after random windows updates.

This will be an exclusive game for Microsoft platforms, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. When you are in control of a Titan, it will mimic the pilots movements and the game will play as a traditional first person shooter. It looks decent, but I wish the titans had beam swords.
