What Earbuds / Headphones do you use?

Recommended Posts

Since having to help raise kids for the past 10 something years, I have never had the chance to actually own a decent pair of earbuds or headphones because kids would always need new ones, or theirs would break and borrow their mom's just to end up destroying those to.

Anyway, kid free now and I'm enjoying the little purchases again. lol.

So, I bought these earbuds about a week ago for playing games on my laptop:

Skullcandy S2IKDY-101 Ink'd 2.0 Earbud Headphones with Mic

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007136D46/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So far they sound amazing and I'm really liking the quality of sound I'm getting out of them.

I have some skull candy buds and they are rockin like dokken. I had a pair of Samsung that required a single AAA battery to cancel out outside music, but these don't and I paid $99 rather than $120 for them. I'm very happy. The bass is top notch. especially when I rock some B.I.G.

My earbuds came with 2 sizes of rubber ear pieces. I thought the smaller ones would be better for me, but after trying both sets out I realized the larger size makes a seal in my ear that cancels out just about all outside noise. Unless its a quite moment or a dramatic scene with no sound, I can't hear anything else except for what my earbuds are playing (With my volume at about 75%).

Same color even! Great minds think alike. ;)

I haven't had a chance to test the microphone part yet, but I figured I could use these earbuds for hands free cell phone use as well as for music/games/etc.

I can't listen to music on Skullcandy, sounds like it's all treble with no punch. Beats on the other hand is just bass bass BASS. I can't have either of that for listening to metal or anything. I've found a balance in Bose's OE headphones, been happy with em for 5ish + years. Has a slight bass boost, but VERY slight. Great on acoustics too.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

Bose is the best quality there is in my opinion. But how much did those Bose headphones cost? $150+? Bose is so expensive I can't afford them. :P

Yep, around that price, though my generation is older and it ran me 200something back then. I'd say it's totally worth it, the comfort from the cushioning, the sound, pretty good stuff. Thing that boggles my mind is seeing kids on the subway rock Dre's BEATS, the price of which starts at 200$. Again, brand is everything and you're trendy if you rock em Beats, which's stupid like most trends.

"That fairy needs to stop shouting in my ear, or I'm going to throw her friend I have trapped in the bottle into a lava pit or something. HEY, LISTEN! No, YOU listen. If something's important, just say so without yelling at me. Or fly over to it and change color like you usually do. Just because I'm busy mowing the lawn and hoping I'll find some spare change, doesn't mean I can't hear you." - Link

Been using these for the past 5 years (on my third set). Out of all the ear buds I've used these are by far the most comfortable and produce the best sound.

I've always wondered how well the canal style works. Most of the ones I've seen look like hard plastic so I never thought they would be comfortable. But those look a bit like they are rubber. Have you used other canal style ones before? And does the music get funneled into your ears to produce better sound?

Ah! I've never used bluetooth headphones before. Is the battery life good? Do you notice any difference in quality compared to plugged in headphones?

These are the only ones of the canal style I've used with the exception of a cheaper Sony version made out of hard plastic (very uncomfortable, they don't make that type anymore). These ones are made of a soft rubber so they are quite comfortable for long periods of use (they do get irritating after awhile but only if you're doing something that causes the cord to become tugged repeatedly). They funnel the music into your ears pretty well and cut out most outside noise (not all of it but since I wear these at work I need to be able to hear whats going on around me) for a much better sound (the bass booster also helps). As with anything the quality of the music rip effects the sound quality (I've noticed anything less the 320 kbps sounds like crap with these and can barely be heard unless you have the volume all the way up).

Thanks for letting me know. I saw some hard plastic canal style earbuds for $69 before (I can't remember the brand name) but they looked like they would be uncomfortable. If I find someone with canal style buds I'll have to try them out for comparison.

This may sound odd to some of you, but I have more or less taken a break from music for about 2 decades. I used to listen to a variety of music in the past (mostly in the 90s) when I was in high school and mostly when I was driving my car. I used to enjoy car stereo hardware back then too. I installed my own systems, I had an amp in the back with two 12 inch subwoofers in my trunk. But I only listened to music when I was driving because I have some concentration issues when listening to music while doing work that requires concentration. I was a bad multi-tasker. Anyway.. I sit at a computer and type all day and I there is a coworker that sits near me that now drives me insane with coughing.. three months now of constant deep, guttural, bronchitis coughing. Its like a bullhorn going off randomly every 1-5 minutes of every hour of every day.

I recently borrowed Lady's MP3 player and with my skull candy earbuds, I have been able to silence the coughing woman with blaring music in my ears. And guess what! I was still able to concentrate. I believe this woman's cough has broken my concentration wall completely. Loud music is nothing compared to listening to her coughing. Now that I can listen to music again outside of a car, I honestly have no idea what music I should listen to. So I started listening to whatever she had on the mp3 player. Turns out I still like a large variety of music and just about everything outside of the 90s is all new to me.

Anyone have any suggestions for what I should listen to? I've currently been listening to Journey, The Police, Fleetwood Mac, anime soundtracks for Air Gear, Naruto, Fairy Tail and a bunch of other songs. Anything anyone recommends, I will listen to it. I need to figure out what I like again and I won't know unless I check out a variety of songs. I think I'm leaning more towards rock and anime soundtracks at this point, but I'll listen to just about anything.

I saw clips of this concert repeatedly this week in the news. And it still looks amazing even now.

Would you pay to watch a holographic concert? I probably would. The quality looks awesome! Maybe they'll make holographic plays with anime characters next.

How in the hell did they find her out of the millions of people to begin with? Did they pick an ip# at random and then pursue her identity thru her ISP? Or did her (or her kid's) username actually have their real name in it? It seems pretty ridiculous that a judge would actually award an amount like this.
