Audiences Will Have to Wait for 'Avengers 2'

No sooner did the full scope of the success of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers became apparent over the past weekend than audiences began asking the inevitable question, when can we see the next Avengers movie? Not so fast Marvel movie fan, Marvel Studios’ honcho Kevin Feige is adamant that Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2 will have to come first. With Iron Man slated to open on May 3rd, 2013, Thor 2 set for November 15th, 2013, and Captain America 2 debuting on April 4, 2014, it appears that 2014 would be the earliest possible date for an Avengers sequel.

Marvel/Disney does have May 16th, 2014 saved as a debut date for an as-yet-unnamed film, so that could be a possibility, though it does seem awfully close to the release of Captain America 2, and Marvel does have other projects in the works including Edgar Wright’s long-gestating Ant Man and an adaptation of Bryan K. Vaughan’s Runaways. But the bottom-line pressure to repeat the enormous success of The Avengers presents its own imperatives that makes a 2014 release for an Avengers sequel a definite possibility.

In an interview with CHUD.com, Feige explained Marvel’s plans, which involve applying a comic book-like continuity to intertwined movie franchises: "If we do an Avengers 2 (a statement that has to stand as one of the more ridiculous hypothetical statements in history--and on May 8th Disney Chairman Robert Iger announced to stockholders that the Avengers 2 was indeed in the works, though he gave no release date), it will be after Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2. They (these characters) have to grow, they have to change. What they have gone through in this movie (The Avengers) will impact their state of mind and where they stand in their next movies. Then whatever they go through in those movies is going to affect where we meet them in the next Avengers film."

Feige notes that Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 will be “singular” stories that won’t involve much interaction with other Marvel heroes, but "Cap, who is stuck in the modern day with no friends or family, there will be some revelations of who is still alive from his days in WWII, but SHIELD and Nick Fury are kind of his confidants right now. So, of all these movies, Captain America 2, will be most closely associated with The Avengers." Well, yes, but will the Avengers sequel open just six weeks after Cap 2? That doesn’t sound like the kind of spacing Marvel likes, but don’t rule out a late summer or winter holiday release for Avengers 2, or, given the enormous success Marvel has had in early May, a first week in May of 2015 debut date is also a definite possibility, if Disney’s money men can wait that long to attempt to reprise Marvel Studios’ first billion-dollar hit.

Note that although Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk is clearly one of the audience’s favorite characters in The Avengers, and Marvel’s deal with the highly-regarded actor reportedly includes options for six movies, there is no current project to create a second Marvel Studios’ Hulk film. Part of the reason appears to be that Feige thinks the Hulk is better as a member of a superhero team than as a stand-alone hero: "Hulk is seemingly more suited for an ensemble piece where he can be the loose cannon, the unpredictable bad boy. You can’t get the same kind of moments necessarily when it’s a stand-alone movie and everything is on (Bruce Banner’s) shoulders."

Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, and then Avengers 2! Damn! Theres going to be alot of good superhero movies over the next couple years. :D

Now if only fans would boycott X-Men, Spider-Man, & Fantastic Four.... You know.... Just so the movie rights could go back to Marvel.... Then we can really Imagine what future Avenger Movies could be like. Such as Civil War, Dark Reign, Siege (Of Asgard), & AvX (Avengers vs. X-Men).

Those who fight deplorables should see to it that they themselves do not become deplorables.

The best thing Marvel ever did was stop selling off their properties and make their own movies. Now if only marvel had all their properties, the crossovers they could do would be awesome. Marvel really needs to get x-men and spider-man back.

DC was going to make a Justice League movie a couple years ago, but they canceled it. Probably because it wouldn't have made much sense to have 2 completely different actors playing possibly very different batmans in 2 different movie franchises.

Very interesting. Spider-man, Doctor Strange and the multiverse. This should be a fun movie.

Ok, so we're 1 episode away from the finale. That will be released tomorrow. The first two episodes were basically Dick van dyke and I dream of Jeanie episodes. Very boring and made no sense. Third episode and the "tv reality" becomes colorized and things start to progress. Fourth episode gets better and 5th episodes and on the show is solid and extremely interesting and is true Marvel movie quality. By the 8th ep all the tv show stuff at the beginning of the series makes complete sense and the series is awesome. I'm expecting some huge battle for this finale and probably some giant reveal for the Doctor Strange 2 movie. Maybe we'll see some huge actor like Keanu Reeves show up as Mephisto or something like how we got that hint of Thanos at the end of the Avengers movie.

I'm glad Wasp will finally get some screen time, Marvel needs more strong females in their movies.

I've gotten annoyed with managing my digital movie and tv series collection. It didn't bother me before because Netflix had pretty much everything. I'd never have to search for stuff on my hard drives or old dvd-rs because it would all be on Netflix. Now that Netflix has dropped about 50% of their content over the last couple years and will lose significantly more once all of Disney's properties are removed next year I've realized all my old dvds, blu rays and digital movies are all getting more use again. This is were plex comes in.
I setup plex on my main pc, moved a bunch of movies and tv series into some folders and set plex to use those folders. This program auto grabbed all meta data for the content, images, etc and is basically a Netflix clone. I was shocked by how efficient this is. I installed the plex client app on my ps3, ps4 and roku stick and as long as my pc with the plex server is running I can now stream all my content to every tv in the house. It even keeps track of where i left off in a movie and i can resume it on a different device if I want.
So I bought a 4tb hard drive yesterday and I'm going all in on this. I'm going to rip a bunch of my dvds and blu rays (the ones that don't have a digital copy) into mkv files and throw them on that hard drive for my plex. I'll try putting my old anime avi files (with hard coded subs from back in the old download days) in there to to see if plex can play those too.  Plex will even organise by genre to so it all works good. And plex is free.
I was thinking about buying a nvidia shield because it can be used as a plex media server instead of just a client like the PlayStation/roku apps but it looks like it has some limitations with file types and my old anime files would definitely not play on it unless i converted every file thru some program called handbrake. I'll look into that some more.
I figured I'd share this in case anyone else was getting annoyed with Netflix and every company making their own Netflix clones. Instead of paying every company a piece of the pie it'll be cheaper in the long run to just make my own Netflix with the content i already own that is already tailored to my preferances. And plex can stream outside of your home in 720p if you go on a road trip. I doubt I'll ever use that feature tho, especially with upload rates being shit with spectrum.
Go to https://www.plex.tv to get the media server and the PlayStation/xbox store/roku/android to download the plex app. I know this topic seems like am advertisement but they're paying me nothing and it's all free downloads anyway. it just works and works great.

Hell yes. Daredevil season 2 was the entire Punisher origin story and in that season netflix pulled off some of the most realistic gun fights I've seen in any movie / tv series. Sure movies have gun fights all the time, but for assault weapons, shotguns, etc. its all special effects and nothing physical. In daredevil season 2 it felt like they were literally shooting guns everywhere and each individual bullet hole was shown being created in the background as it happened. As long as the punisher series has that much detail this will be amazing. It better have that much detail because netflix needs another strong marvel series. Iron Fist and Defenders were horrible compared to their predecessors.
