Steam users?

Recommended Posts

i used steam.. not avidly though.. they kicked my messaging privileges offline because i didn't spend enough hours gaming (like no hours what so ever for a few months time..) so there was no reason for me to use it unless i want to log my sc2 hours :3 i'm sure eppy will have some good input for you!

I have an account but have never fully used it. That reminds me I should re-download it and get my copy of portal up and running again (I got it free when I bought my new laptop).

Most of my friends use it and seem to like it but I've never been big into it (I was never a big Valve fan and most of the games on Steam I can get on Impulse if I want them (only reason I use Impulse is due to Sins of a Solar Empire)).

Yea go get SC2 Sledge, its a great game (though I still need to beat it).

I personally love it cause i keeps everything basically organized gamewise...and makes switching to a new computer easy as hell cause all you have to do is redl the game and most are steam cloud enabled so it'll keep all your settings and gamesaves also...and you can synch it with your FB to find all your friends that are on steam

If something's important, just say so without yelling at me. Or fly over to it and change color like you usually do. Just because I'm busy mowing the lawn and hoping I'll find some spare change, doesn't mean I can't hear you." - Link

I've tried SC2 on a couple of friend's computers now. It looks so impressive.

Btw, what is impulse? *feels like a newb*

Impulse is basically just Steam, it's just missing some of Steam's features. (http://www.impulsedriven.com/, if you want to take a look at it). I only use it because it's linked to my Stardock account for Sins of a Solar Empire.

There's also Origin but that's only if you want to give EA more money, which who wants to do that (it's there option for digital content).

I have one because I'm supposed to check out Team Fortress 2. Right now I'm in the process of getting a mouse for it X'D ... but yeah, I also plan on downloading/ purchasing the Formula 1 game that was released last night.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

Thanks for the link Strider! I'll check it out.

huh.. battlefield 3 is on origin, I'll look at that one too.

I'm going to d/l team fortress 2 also.. I've heard about for years but I've never played it.

No kidding.. thats pretty convenient. So if I have a game that I got thru stream I should open stream and choose to play it thru the stream menu to get all the interconnectivity with the game/stream or does it matter if I just play the game from the icon on my desktop?

Every once in a while I'll come across free games for PC that look really good. Anyone can feel free to update this topic with limited time free game links so we can add them to our ever growing backlog of games. If a game states how long it will be free for, please list that along with the link. Sometimes it won't be stated so if you click a link and its no longer free, then that promo must have expired. I've seen alot of free game listings off slickdeals or other blogs. I'll update this when I see good ones. I would post the free games with Amazon Prime, but I don't currently have amazon prime so if those appeal to anyone, feel free to post them since Amazon Prime generally gives away a couple free games a month.
      To start off with:
Little Nightmares is currently free with a Steam promotion until 05/30/2021 @ 10:00am (does not say if EDT, PDT, etc. )

Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault - Limited Free Promotional Package, free for this weekend or until 05/31/2021? It doesn't say exact day it ends.

Steam has made its own hand held game console. It can be used as a handheld or docked to a tv like the Nintendo Switch. Honestly, this looks like a solid hand held. Everyone that does PC gaming has a steam account and most likely alot of games already in their library.
There are three versions: $399, $529 & $649 depending on the internal storage. Its shipping December of 2021.

      The hardware looks great too:

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.
