Close your windows, lock your doors and clear your schedules. Come this Halloween, you'll have more to fear than trick-or-treaters. AMC has announced that its newest original series, The Walking Dead, will premiere on Halloween night, Sun., Oct. 31 at 10PM | 9C. The Sunday night series will debut with a 90-minute premiere episode. Subsequent episodes will be one-hour long presentations.

If that isn't enough to whet your undead appetites, perhaps footage from the series will: The official four and a half-minute trailer first screened at Comic-Con is now available here online in full-screen HD.

And heres the trailer for it:

I'll give it a couple episodes. Looks like it has some potential for a horror series.

I missed the second ep, but I'm definitely catching the re-run. This series is already looking very very promising.. and its already been renewed for a second season based off of the ratings of only the first two episodes. O_O

AMC has renewed The Walking Dead after airing only two episodes, according to Variety. The new order is for 13 episodes; the first was for only six. The show lost only 10% of its viewers between the first and second episode, an unusually high retention rate.

The Walking Dead’s first episode drew more viewers than any other AMC show (see “8.1 Million Watch ‘The Walking Dead’”).

Yeah, the second episode wasn't too bad either, AMC's production values are pretty good on this one. The only problem some people have is with a few small inconsistencies with regard to it's true depiction to the comic.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

It what has to be seen as a major shocker Frank Darabont is stepping down as the showrunner for AMC’s The Walking Dead series. Just last week Darabont appeared at Comic-Con at The Walking Dead panel with comic book creator Robert Kirkman and talked enthusiastically about Season 2, which is currently in the midst of production. It is not clear whether or not Darabont will remain with the show in any capacity. Glen Mazzara, who was the showrunner on The Shield, joined the show this season as Darabont’s aide. It is not known at this time if he will take over as showrunner on The Walking Dead.

Darabont fought to get The Walking Dead on screen for five years. He first brought the project to NBC in 2006 and kept shopping the project around until he managed to get AMC to approve it. Darabont wrote and directed the pilot and has supervised the creation of the scripts for all the episodes so far.

Darabont comes from the world of feature films. He directed The Sawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist, and Deadline speculates that he may never have fully adjusted to the rigors of TV production. But The Walking Dead, which will have its second season debut on October 16th, was a certified hit attracting huge audiences for the AMC cable channel. It received a Golden Globe nomination as “Best Drama Series,” as well as Directors Guild of America and Writers Guild of America nominations.

Deadline reports that the behind-the-scenes turmoil that resulted in Darabont’s departure has not affected production of Season 2, which remains on schedule. But it’s hard not to see his leaving as a blow to the show. At the very least The Walking Dead has lost its most fervent advocate.

I hope season 2 turns out as good as season 1. :look:

So Rick is now the top adviser, and basically the leader now. Dianne is just a puppet to keep everyone comfortable. Rick isn't taking no shit from these fools, and only holds back to keep mass hysteria from breaking out. While he is right, he's lost his damn mind. Morgan is going to be his outer conscience from now on I believe.

That canyon of walkers is by design I believe. I think the Wolves have been saving up on something big for Alexandria.... and when they saw Rick and company pulling them away, they acted at the end of the episode.

This episode featured Rick, Morgan, Abraham, Glen, Sasha, and Daryl mostly... there are some new players, most notably the black guy with the glasses, and the guy that tried to kill Glen. The cast is getting too big and there will be sure to be plenty of deaths to older characters to make room for newer ones. Carol is going to keep blending in unnoticed until some shit goes down. She's Rick's ace in the hole, and Morgan noticed it in a flashback. That was a key moment I believe.

After the next episode, It will be interesting to see how the town reacts to Rick... they'll probably fault him for someone else's sabotage if the cause isn't realized after the dust settles.

Seems like Rick takes charge and goes a bit cran on everyone with power. Talk about a 180 from his farming days at the prison.
