Alita: Battle Angel after Avatar 2

James Cameron’s production partner Jon Landau told MTV’s Splash Page that the filmmaker plans to make a film based on the Battle Angel Alita anime and manga after he finishes an Avatar sequel. Cameron has been talking about making the film again recently (see “Battle Angel Alita Is ‘Just Add Water’”), but exactly when had been in question.

Landau said that the new script by Laeta Kalogridis had incorporated all of the manga volumes rather than just the anime and a single volume, which had been the basis of Cameron’s past interest, and that had opened up a more rich world for a film. Landau also revealed that the property had originally been introduced to Cameron by Guillermo del Toro.

Landau said that the film would have to be named Alita: Battle Angel in order to keep Cameron’s string of films whose titles begin with “T” or “A” (Avatar, Titanic, Terminator, Aliens, etc.) intact.

I thought the Battle Angel movie was scrapped. Looks like it'll still get made... eventually. I've been waiting for a movie like Battle Angel to get made. Just like the comic book movie craze and remake movie craze, the anime/manga => Movie craze will kick in.... as long as we all forget about Dragonball Evolution. :P But then again, in a few years I'm sure it'll be a remake too. :P

The GITS movie will come out before this, and prolly cement a stronger hold on the film market. It'll allow the acceptance in the minds of people to make the Akira movie. When I think of both of these points, I think EPIC PHAIL. LEAVE THEM ALONE! GRRRRRRRRRR!

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

It was a fun movie, they didn't stay true to the games at all with most of the plot coming from the fourth game but overall it was good special effects and kept a good pace with plenty of action. Although it did feel toned down with gun fights considering the amount of shooting takes place in the games. I'm guessing they did that to keep the rating family friendly. Tom Holland still looked way too young for the role imo.

Very interesting. Spider-man, Doctor Strange and the multiverse. This should be a fun movie.

I wasn't that interested in this movie because its based in the past, but now that I've been sucked into Battlefield 1, this movie looks amazing. I know DICE likes to put easter eggs in their games so I wonder if we'll see an amazon warrior reference somewhere in a future dlc. On a side note, I thought we had a Wonder Woman topic already for the teaser trailer, but I didn't see one.

Awesome movie. I watched it a couple days ago. One of the best movies of 2020 for me. Very fun, energetic, great CGI and the monsters were all pretty damn cool and unique.

The Disney princess part at the end is great. I loved the first movie.
