It's all cake

Think of religions like cake.

On the outside it looks so appealing that you just have to have a piece. The frosting and piping and elaborate decorations are the things that particular religion shows off to the world. Beautiful architecture, holidays, ceremonies and messages of love and peace.

Some people window shop before they pick a cake, but most eat their parent's cake during childhood and get used to eating that particular cake and are satisfied with it.

You didn't bake the cake so you aren't going to know what ingredients went into the cake unless you look at the recipe. Some people need to know what they're eating because some things are toxic to them, some people want to know what they're eating so they can choose what goes in their body, some people don't care what the cake is made of.

The recipe for your religion cake is the religions holy text and history. Some people look at the recipe and reject the cake, some people decide to only lick the frosting, and some people shovel the cake in their face anyway.

The health nut who looks at the recipes and concludes All cake is full of seriously bad shit! is the anti-theist. The frosting lickers are your moderates. They want the pretty and the sweet, they deliberately fill up on frosting before they get to the cake so they eat less of it. They don't like all the ingredients so they're selective about the bites they take. The one shoveling it in like Goku at a buffet is your fundamentalist. They know their cake has some hard core shit in it, but its the best and everyone should eat it!

The problem with cake is it has the potential to make you sick. Someone with a peanut/genocide allergy isn't going to dive into that cake. Over eating or excessive amounts of cake over time can have negative health consequences. It could lead to diabetes/ a defective set of morals.

My parents visited me over the weekend. Had a great time.  I wish I lived in the same state as the rest of my family so I could see them all more often.

Finally got around to watching Black Mirror since, you know, I'm bored because I can't work (and as much as I try I just can't bring myself to play anything game wise outside of FFXIV and a little bit of Destiny (I'm stuck at 267 and have no urge to do the Exotic quests and I really don't want to level another character right now)).
Gotta say this is definitely one of my favorite shows now. Really love how they're stand alone episodes that have no interconnection with each other (well they seem to all take place in the same year and same world (based on little hints I picked up in various episodes) but they're completely separate stories of their own). Some of the episode are really fucked up (the last episode of season 3, while not fucked up, is pretty fucking dark and has given rise to a new fear for me (saying what it is will ruin it if you haven't seen it), still one of my favorite episodes though) and some are really well thought out and emotional (the San Junipero episode is really fucking good).
All around it's a great fucking series (better be it's British, yeah I have a thing for British television) and I highly recommend it. Figured I'd start Stranger Things this weekend since it sounds like I'll be out of work for another week (according to my surgeon's nurse when I talked to her on the phone, I'll find out more tomorrow) and be ready for when season 2 airs in Oct.

My mattress has been killing my back and sides for over a year now. I kept adjusting how I was sleeping, got a mattress pad, etc. Screw this thing. I bought a mattress in a box from walmart.com for cheap. $140. I thought about getting a memory foam one but I read that they trap heat too easily so I went with a Slumber 1 brand coil spring.
Sure as hell this mattress showed up in a box. It was vacummed sealed in a bag, folded and rolled up. When I broke that plastic seal it inflated so damn fast that it made a whistling noise thru the plastic bag as I was cutting it open. lol. It feels pretty comfortable so far but I have to let it air out for "full recovery" for 48 hours. I'd have rather gotten an expensive really nice beauty rest mattress or something else from a mattress store, but I'm tight on funds. This seems decent enough for now.

Well yesterday was fun. Had really bad abdominal pain and ended up in the ER only to find out I had acute appendicitis and had to have surgery (all in all spent 10 hours in the ER, got home at 4:30 this morning). Now I'm in pain and out of work for at least a week. At least I get Vicadin as my pain killer (whenever my mother pucks the prescription up, I can't drive for the next week so yea).
Guess it's time to get caught up on my anime and game backlogs.
