Bourbon is a magical liquid. It's a true cure for the common cold, it cures tooth aches, and it helps prevent terminal aliments such as heart disease and stroke. It marinades ribs and steaks and can create various desserts. It also tastes good straight and can be enjoyed mixed in several ways.

I recently came across this bourbon in the past couple months. It's very woody and dry. Its a little harsher to drink straight than other bourbons, but its distinct taste puts it at 5, knocking off Jim Beam Dark which would have originally been in this spot. It goes well with Cola or Sprite.

Maker's Mark is where I started with bourbon. Its sweet and smokey. When not drinking, it makes an excellent sweet meat marinade. If you're looking to try something new from your usual Jack or Crown, Maker's is definitely a great choice. It goes great with Cola, Dr. Pepper, and just straight up.

Gentleman Jack is an upgrade over your standard Jack Daniels. Its smoother and noticeably richer. It will empty your wallet a little more, but for a classy occasion its the right choice. It goes wonderfully with Sprite, Cola, and Dr. Pepper... and of course straight

Southern Comfort is unlike any bourbon out there. That's probably why you won't find it near the other bourbons at your liquor store. At least most places I've been to, it has its own little section. What is different about SoCo is its very evident caramel taste. Probably the most easy bourbon to drink straight, it goes very well with just about anything. Sprite, Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Ginger Ale are my recommendations. It comes in 80 proof and 100 proof variations. There is little to no price difference in the two, so you might as well go with the 100.

The king of all bourbon. I rave about this whiskey more than any other alcohol out there. This is the best stuff out of anything in my opinion. Made by the Jim Beam distiller, Booker's is their private stash made public. The barrels that are stored in the middle of the warehouse for equal humidity on all sides as it ages. It is the only UNFILTERED bourbon on the market. That's right, it goes straight from the barrel into the bottle, how nature intended it to be. It ranges from 120-128 proof. Its very strong and potent, and yet very smooth at the same time. It really does have the best taste, but it will run you around $80. Definitely a special occasion product. If you can't bare it straight. Sprite, Cola, and Ginger Ale is the way to go with this one.

I've always wanted to try that Bookers, but damn its too costly. :P

Is Crown Royal comparable to Gentleman Jack? To me, Crown is easier to drink straight than Maker's Mark, but it doesn't seem to mix as well as regular Jack or Maker's Mark does. So I was wondering if Gentleman Jack would be the better mixer.

Maker's Mark in gingerale is good, sprite is better, but I've noticed I'm preferring Jack Daniel's and coke more than any other bourbon mix lately.

If I got that bookers, I'd probably feel like I was disgracing it by mixing it with anything. But then again, it would probably kill me if I drank it straight. X'D

LOL, its like someone kicked you in the sinuses straight. Its best with Ginger Ale. You just have to be careful because it will knock you on your ass so fast. X'D Booker's is the best ever!

GJ is good straight and mixed. but Soco is the best straight in my opinion. Crown has always been overrated to me... I dunnno :\

I bought a bottle of crown almost a year ago because a friend of mine highly recommended it to me... I still have half the bottle and I've been thru two small bottles of JD and most of a huge bottle of maker's mark since then. Crown just doesn't do it for me. I'll have to try that Soco next time. I'm going to give maker's mark a break for a while and stick with JD, but I'll pick up a bottle of the Soco to try it out.

I saw a partial eclipse today from where I live. I didn't have the eclipse glasses since there wouldn't be much to see here. But Lady made a makeshift eclipse viewer with a box and some foil. It worked great and we could easily see the crescent shape of the moon over the sun. Even with 70-80% coverage here the light was only slightly dimmed for a while and colors looked a bit off. Other than that it was like any other day. I was half expecting the sky to darken more, but apparently 20%+ of the sun is still bright as f*ck.

RIP Jerry Lewis. I remember watching Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movies when I was young. He made me laugh as a child.

I'm almost done with GARO: Crimson Moon. I'm pretty disappointed with it. Its no where near as good as GARO: The Animation was. The story is pretty meh, and they reduced the golden night to some sailor moon type format where he only gets to transform at the end of the episode and wins in 2-3 moves. It reminds me how Blood-C is inferior to Blood+ as they both take place in similarly unconnected time frames.

I just finished Drifters on Funimation. Its from the same people that made Hellsing. This was a better product IMO. I honestly don't get all the love for Hellsing as its ending is shit, and a lot of stuff is never resolved. The premise of Drifters is that legendary historical warriors/fighters/tacticians passed on to a different realm when they died and end up on the good or evil side of a new war. You have people like Rasputin, Anastasia, Joan of Arc, Sundance Kid, Butch Cassidy, and a lot of Japanese legends... most notably Oda Nobunaga. Whats strikingly controversial is that Jesus is pretty much an evil overlord, even though they cover his face and call him the "Black King" the fact that he has holes in his hands, and can heal, and produce food out of nothing makes me laugh when I looked it up and the wiki says "His identity is still a mystery". You can just listen to the stuff he says and know who it is. Anyways, the action is great, the gore is on the same level of Hellsing, and the story is really good. Season 2 should be coming out in the future.

I got an interesting email from Amazon about something called the Carnivore Club. It looks pretty neat, but damn It's too expensive for my comfort. I'll probably sign up for 1 month and cancel just to get a box. I've never been apart of any subscription box service before because I don't need random junk every month that I might or might not like. But I can eat this stuff, that all looks really delicious. If I could afford $55 a month for some snack meats, I'd do it. What caused me to post about this was the fact that it has two 1 star reviews written by angry vegans posting about how sick and disgusting it was, and how they are promoting cancer and cardiovascular disease.
I remember back in the day I always looked forward to Christmas because we use to get those boxes with all the cured meats and smoked cheeses in them. They're pretty hard to find now, at least in the quality that they were back then. Now you just get some basic summer sausage and Kraft tier cheese. The Carnivore Club reminds me of the old fancy ones minus the cheese.... hmmm I wonder if there is a cheese club?
