Vikings - History Channel Original Series

Sledgstone
  • History Channel's new original series Vikings. It premieres tonight March 3, 2013 at 10pm. If you haven't seen the multitude of commercials for this show over the past week, then check out these videos. If the production quality of this show is as good "Hatfields & McCoys" then History channel might have itself a potential hit series on its hands.

.

I might watch the first episode tonight, but unfortunately its on at the same time as the talking dead. Depending on who they have as a guest on the show, I might skip it to check out Vikings.

I dunno if I want to watch this. Im leery of History Channel making actual tv series. If it was like a "Story of us" documentary I'd be sold. I think History should do more of those, They are very well put together. I don't want History to become like MTV...

I figure its only a matter of time before all tv channels to turn into crap. :crap:

This reminds me of AMC.. before it started making series it was a channel dedicated to classic movies.

If History channel can make a successful series about some events that actually took place in history, I'd prefer that over them making more Ancient Aliens episodes.

I didn't know what to expect of this show and I'm pretty surprised how quickly they sailed west, killed some monks and came back already. I was half expecting the journey to last half the season. lol. I'm not used to a series that actually time skips boring months long sailing trips. I kind of like that. :P

I watched it, pretty good too. Love how that woman pulled the hot iron outta the fire and sent those two scummers running :P

I'm already wishing Ragnar's wife was my G/f.... WOW!! XD

History is impressing me. This series is awesome. I thought it was pretty funny how they had the vikings capital one commercials too XD

Well what has me worried is that in a Historical sense, the King's land he is currently raiding is the king that had him executed. lol I hope this series goes on for more than one season.

Spoilers! O_O Thanks for ruining the ending. :crywithno:

lol. j/k. :P

I hope the series makes it to at least 2 seasons. But with how they time skipped the ocean voyages, I wonder if they plan on time skipping after his eventual death to show the exploits of his sons.

He probably escapes and goes an attacks the other 3 kings, and in the end they all team up together to bring him down :P I doubt they will be entirely accurate. Him and that King will probably long standing rivals throughout the series' seasons. Hell, he might not even kill him.

I'm thinking this season he will spend more time fueding with the Earl until they clash and he takes him out. By the series season preview from the debut ep, it looks like they do battle with each other. While he does this, they will probably plant the seeds for season two and Ælla.

The preview for tonights episode looks like a lot of sh*t is going down. I didn't hear anything about it being a mid-season finale or anything, but the preview looks like a major plot change is going to happen at the Viking village and Ragnar looks like hes going to be killed. O_O

That was a good fight. I was half expecting a three shield fight like in the movie "13th Warrior". I loved what Siggy (the Earl's wife) did as soon as her husband was killed.. She grabbed a blade and killed that disgusting bastard that her daughter was forced to marry. Haha. Good for her. :D

Best episode yet of the series IMO.

1. I think Rolo's life will be short lived now that he accepted baptism. Floki is right about this one. He might still last into next season, but If he tries to turn on his brother for Siggy, Odin will be on Ragnar's side.

2. How terrible for Ragnar's wife having a miscarriage. I'm still not sure on Siggy's intentions, but right now she seems true to her word.

3. Floki is definitely becoming one of the most dynamic characters of the series. I feel like he is closer to Ragnar than his own brother.

I like Floki. He is creepy and crazy. lol. I definitely like him better than Ragnar's brother. I like how the show time skipped again. 9 months later, they now have multiple boats that can sail west and they sped right through the pregnancy. This episode was great just because of the amount of action in it. The one thing I want to see more of are women vikings. There were a few at the beach battle, and while they held their own, they were minor characters. It sucks about Lagertha's miscarriage.. I'm hoping she'll get back into the fighting though. Shes a strong female lead and I'd rather see her bash more people to death than rule them from a throne.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
