Titanfall, Infinity W.. eh Respawn's big debut

DeathscytheX

The original Infinity Ward studio that brought us COD4: Modern Warfare and MW2 has finally come out of hiding as Respawn Entertainment with a game that is highly futuristic, but is very CODish in appearance from the XP scoring and map. We can only wait for more lawsuit slinging between Activision and EA overthis.... anyways the game looks great. Sadly its an XBO exclusive.

Interviewer: "What is your favorite game of all time?"

Interviewee: "COD4: Modern Warfare?"
Interviewer: "You're hired!"

XD

I wouldn't doubt it would be on PS4 eventually... I was thinking that since it was announced. Its EA... They want money, and they will put it on all platforms.

I'm still surprised that they are not getting sued over this game considering how similar the basic look is compared to current Call of Duty games.

I agree with out.. EA wants money so yeah, I'm sure this will be on PS4. Especially once they compare the sale numbers of BF4 for PS4 compared to Xbox One. They'll be missing out an a huge chuck of potential money if they don't.

Ohh.. good point. Activision is probably going to regret that deal in the long term. If Titanfall is released for all consoles and gets new sequels every other year, it could easily take on Call of Duty.. As for Battlefield, I don't think Call of Duty even compares to it considering how different the two games are.

Yeah Titanfall is a COD style run and gun game... thats what they specialize in, they invented that model of FPS after all. Activision should regret ever letting them go already. MW3 was such hot garbage. If you ever see a free trial on Steam, please download it to experience how terrible the game is. The maps were flat out bad, and the guns were awful.

BO2 was great at the begining, then they started watering down all the guns n00bs or "elitists" were bitching about. Once they fucked over the FAL after I worked to get all the unlocks for it, the game lost its luster. Plus no one makes maps like the original IW did. Titanfall should have some sick maps. COD4 and MW2 maps were second to none. I could name them all off for you because they were so good... I couldn't even tell you a map name by heart on BO2 right now. LOL

That map sounds like fun, but its nothing compared to the what Titanfall will be accomplishing. Considering how many comparisons are going around about CoD and Titanfall, it looks like Titanfall is on a pedestal above CoD and CoD keeps trying to get out of its shadow. Which is pretty funny considering how big the CoD franchise is. CoDs lack of innovation is really starting to become apparent.

Also, this new map is a pre-order bonus, much like how Nuketown was for Black Ops 2... which means unless there is a map rotation specifically for this map, you'll almost never see it. Every time I play BO2, I have never seen nuketown in a multiplayer round unless I'm in a "special weekend only available map rotation". Its a pointless pre-order bonus just like nuketown was.

Nuketown was overrated, and only worked for BO1 because of the napalm killstreak that could cut off the opposing team in their own spawn back yard. On Demolition, this was the only way to win if you tied and ended up being offense in the tie breaker round (unlike COD games there after where both teams were offense and you fought over a single bomb). One of the bomb sites was in the garage of a house near the defensive teams spawn, and unless you cut them off with saved napalm streaks you'd never be able to plant and defend.

People were screwed over on that preorder bonus, It was only available for the first week and then Nuketown 2025 was taken off rotation for regular gameplay and then made available to everyone on specialized gameplay. So basically you got a 1 week timed exclusive and never got to play it on normal TDM and Demo playlists.

I don't understand how Nuketown became such a big hit while COD4's Shipment was much smaller and much more intense, you could rack up 80+ kills on the domination only match. XD, if you managed to get an air strike and chopper it was pure mayhem. You equip the 3 frag perk and just lob them in 3 different directions and start run-n-gunning like crazy.

This is the type of guy that Generic Geoff parodies although he isn't as bad he just talks about his subscription numbers... give him a like or a thumbs up. XD

My main thing for Titanfall is that the weapons kill like COD4 and MW2. When everyone started bitching about stopping power, COD decided to nerf all the weapons, when they should have made all the weapons as if they already had stopping power when they did away with the perk. 90% of everyone used stopping power on COD until it was done away with. If I want my guns to kill like BF, then I'll play BF. COD is suppose to be more arcadey, and now its just a crappy game, where only guns with high RPM or single shot weapons are worth a damn. Thus every player uses 2-3 out of the 20 guns available. This happened right after IW fell apart. (Ah the days when the M16 killed in 2 bursts)

Titanfall is not based on realism, and the trailers and gameplay look promising in how the guns kill. Thats my only wish. If Titanfall has this I will be completely satisfied... btw anyone else notice how pistols seemingly kill in one shot on Ghosts? WTF? During MW2, running around with a tact knife and pistol was a fad, now this pistol thing is going to be what everyone does once they figure out its one shot kills.. thats a little too extreme.

Those are good points. The one thing I don't want to see in Titanfall is kill / score streaks. I'm sure plenty of people love them, but I think they're pointless for game modes that have objectives, but I've mentioned that before. I like the arcade feel you're talking about.. it makes me think about how much fun it was playing Contra and mowing people down with ridiculous weapons. Imagine if Contra was remade into an FPS. :P

Oh.. I didn't pay enough attention to see that guns were doing one shot kills. If they are then I'd imagine plenty of people will be running around with nothing but pistols.

I'm glad the tactics involved will be nothing like CoD. And grunts! I was not expecting that. Nice to see some AI characters in there even if they are only there for boosting. It'll keep matches interesting.. instead of walking into a bouncing betty, we'll be getting shot at by a low level NPC. I think the only problem will be if those grunts have specific spawn locations. If people can figure out their spawn locations and spawn kill grunts, they could possibly boost in game to get additional titans. We'll have to see how it plays out. Now they just need to release it for PS4.

A lot of "hardcore" COD players wont like this game since they cant run around on the ground or hide in a window with a claymore on the staircase. Anyone can come through the windows. They've been spoiled by cheap programming the tailors to their cheap gameplay style.

Its definitely a score for Xbox One... but a stupid move for Respawn... thats a lot of lost sales seeing as FPS is at his peak right now. FPS won't be on top forever, its going to fall to another resurging genre eventually.

It sucks for them. They have a game with an amazing amount of buzz and a large chunk of potential fans will end up passing on it. MS must have paid some good money, its a good strategy on their part though.

I read today that Respawn didn't even know. it was a deal EA put in place... one of the draw backs to being working for the big publishers. I bet they dont see any of the deal money and only profit from the sales.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
