Overwatch - Trailers

Sledgstone

In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world. This organization, known as Overwatch, ended the crisis and helped maintain peace for a generation, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch's influence waned and it was eventually disbanded. Now in the wake of its dismantling, conflict is rising once again. Overwatch may be gone…but the world still needs heroes.

Overwatch is a highly stylized team-based shooter set on earth in the near future. Every match is an intense multiplayer showdown pitting a diverse cast of soldiers, mercenaries, scientists, adventurers, and oddities against each other in an epic, globe-spanning conflict.

I'm more impressed by the Cinematic trailer than I am by the actual gameplay. Blizzard can surprisingly make Pixar quality movies. The game looks like a fun FPS multiplayer with heroes like a MMOBA game. I hope they do more with this game than just make a competitive shooter. I'd love to see a single player / co-op campaign. With a cinematic trailer like that, the cut scenes would be great.

I'm excited for the D.Va Changes. the Mercy changes are crazy. I just got decent with her and now shes a bit different. I will admit it was demoralizing when she nulled your team wipe, and when you're playing with randoms and no one is even trying to kill the mercy it made it frustrating, but this will be even more frustrating in that situation. At least I know I'll never waste my single rez on an attack Widowmaker. XD

Those new rockets for D.Va look way powerful. I bet they'd tear Reinhearts shield away in a single barrage. Mercy flying all over the place seems a bit whacky. The only real tell that will give her position away is the stream from her heals and buffs.

They are, but you cant really aim them good, so you're really not going to hit anyone from far away. D.VA has suffered since her HP armor nerf, shes probably the most squishy tank. They will never make her like she was ever again so the answer was definitely to give her more power. With her Defense Matrix uptime heavily nerfed she'll no longer be able to cancel out McCree's and Soldiers ult. I don't think those can single handedly destroy Rein's shield, they barely take down a single character. Rein has suffered a lot lately though, and once the Junkrat buff goes live, I bet more people start playing him which will make it really hard on Rein as Junkrat is the hard counter to his shield besides Bastion.

Mercy is going to become very powerful on console. People have a hard enough time taking care of Phara, and unless you're 76, McCree, Widow, or a really good Hanzo, Phara players do as they please if they have mastered fuel conservation to stay in the air at all times. Even knowing where Mercy is, her mobility will be too much during her Ult. There will be a lot of blown High Noons just to cheese take care of it.

I LOVE this character. I have a feeling shes going to be hard to get a hold of as time goes on. Kudos to Blizzard for making healers like Brigitte and Moria that can fight and disengage... basically healers that don't need to be protected by the team and are fun to play with decent offense. But even more so for Brigitte's ability to be a frontline brawler healer. Shes a beast, with an awesome kit. Her shield bash cancels out all abilities if you land them right, and cancels ults if you're in the right place to perform it. Her only downfall is she has a map meta. Escort is her forte, open maps are definitely her weakness. You need tight corridors to get good positioning on shield bash stuns and because her main attack is a generously ranged melee. Plus your attacks are what heals, so you have to stay active to provide heals to your team. But damn shes super fun to play. The no one playing healers has declined ever since Moira came out, but now I think you'll have two a lot of the times, which currently is a meta team comp. Having 2 healers vs. a team with only 1 is going to favor the team with the most healers, and it will compound if the other team's healer isn't very good at playing healer.

Heh, I was going to play this over the weekend since it was free but Blizzard yet again picks one of the worst weekends for me to do this. Between the new FFXIV content patch on Tuesday (so much to fucking do x.x) and Detroit: Become Human having come out on Friday I don't have the time (which I'm fucking loving Detroit, probably the best $70 I've spent in a long time). Sucks because I really wanted to try out Brigette, I'll just have to wait until the next free weekend.

I'm enjoying Brigette while I can. She'll eventually get nerfed to uselessness. All the pros and big channels are crying how shes too hard of a counter to Tracer. Tracer finally got nerfed after 2 years, and it was only to the radius of her ult. Brigette is the only real hard counter to her. Shes really not OP if you know how to take her down. Phara and Junkrat both are super hard counters to her, but both of them have their own hard counter and Tracer has never had one. Winston was your best bet, but he only chased her off. Brigette destroys her, and even then thats if you catch her getting too close. The whole reason I hate playing Mercy or Zen when the other team has a damn Tracer is because she just keeps getting behind the lines and killing me with no one else helping or even paying attention. Its why I mained Lucio most of the time because I could boop her away from me and run off to stay alive.

I don't buy the whole "stale meta" when Tracer was always picked before and now she is not. Its pure hypocrisy seeing as deathball and dive comp has been the meta since triple tank got killed off. But since Tracer is the face of the game, I'm sure eventually Brigette's damage is going to get nerfed and her stuns are going to get toned down to where everyone is back to playing Lucio and Mercy. Luckily Mora is a lot of fun to play, I honestly play her more than Brigette, since she's an off healer like Zen and I get pigeon holed into healer 99% of the time. With the Hanzo rework he is always picked now. 9 times out of 10 when you load in hes the first character locked in within seconds.

Another free weekend is coming up. The state of the game has altered a little since the last. Soldier, McCree, Bastion, and Mei had their damage fall off ranges buffed, making the Phara and Mercy combo non existent (thank god). Phara is a lot weaker now, and so is Mercy as her healing was nerfed back to what it was when the game first came out. This means a lot of the lower DPS characters can't be out healed by a pocket mercy. Ana's ult has been buffed, I've been playing a lot more of her when people are willing to Rein up for me. I've enjoyed it immensely. Her and Brigitte are the best support counters to Doomfist and Wreckingball to stop their mobility. Lucio's aura has been buffed to be bigger and his Ult now can cancel out every Ult except D.Va's on 200HP characters. Brigitte has been nerfed since the last go, her shield bash CD is now 7 seconds from the 5 it was. I personally thought the 6 second buff was enough. She's not as powerful as she originally was, but is still effective on the right maps. Moira is still an absolute monster and my favorite character to play. Her healing mist got buffed to regen 20% faster, so you can throw out more death orbs instead of solely relying on your healing orbs to keep the team up. It doesn't seem like much, but I'd say I went from throwing 30/70% death/heal orbs to 60/40%. With McCree back in the meta, it does hurt her ult as he can easily cancel it out with a stun flank. Brigitte was the main counter but you could easily keep your distance from her stun.  D.Va is still the best tank by far, and its not even close. Her rocket barrage that was added before the last free weekend has given her the DPS boost she needs to defend herself against high DPS targets, and harass other tanks. With the mobility nerfs to Widow and Hanzo they've seen a downard thrust in play, but I have no doubt no one will experience that next weekend as all the n00b try hards will instantly go for them and get fucking deleted by anyone decent with Zen, Ana, D.Va, Soldier, and even Lucio. Solider and McCree can also harass snipers off their perches with ease now as well. Junkrat is very meta in mid and lower tiers, as a lot of people try max shield bunker on choke point maps like King's Row and Volskaya. He also does work on Brigitte as her smaller shield can't handle his bombs, your trap can snare her shield bash, and his concussion mind can easily be thrown over her defenses.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
