New Footage from Destiny

  • Check out the video posted by Bungie today. The Thank You video to the fans that supported them at Gamescom has some never before seen footage of the game. Pay close attention and you might see a few seconds of what is presumably Mars.

Once again, Bungie asserts its closer relationship to Sony, "Best Game on Sony Playstation 4" Award? They're really laying it on thick, and MS has to swallow it.

Bah, sniper rifles are where its at. Nothing better then sitting back, target in you sights, and popping them in the head from a distance. I'll be rolling Hunter all the way (as I'm sure just about everyone else will be) and a Warlock. Titan doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.

I'm a run-n-gun til the day I die XD. But when it comes to action rpg I'm all about in your face brute force. It's gonna be a tough decision. Seeing as this is a more serious version of borderlands, I might go warlock.

FINALLY!! the L2 and R2 are used for shooting instead of L1/R1... this use to drive me insane about PS3 shooters.... although I hope i can change crouch to LS(R3). Id put Melee at O and nova bomb would just be R1 instead of 2 buttons.

Each of the three classes sound good to me:

I like sniping once I know how the enemies behave and react and I learn the terrain.. I wonder how far away sniping can actually be accomplished and if bullet drop will be taken into consideration like in BF3. Until I get the hang of things, I'll probably act like a tank character and rush myself right into the front lines.

hmm... the rear buttons for shooting? Thats so different from what I'm used to. I hope the controller has a good feel/grip to it.

Oh and yes, I need R3 for crouching. Its critical for my sniping reloading and quick aiming/crouching.

LOL Rear buttons are so natural to me because of the triggers that PS4 finally included. Xbox's controller was superior in that aspect. rear triggers shot and aim, and bumpers for quick access to grenades and flashbangs or melee in bf3.

I want this game. It seems to take every aspect of FPS and third person games I enjoy and blends them perfectly into an action / mmorpg style of game play. As long as people can instant teleport to their friends locations on the same server like in Defiance, then this would be a great co-op game to play through a campaign.

It sounds like there will be a massive amount of optional missions and public events surrounding a loose overall plot, in which character based mission can be done at your own casual pace. This way you can join your friends missions and vice versa and team up for the optional side quests without jacking up where you are at in the story by sending you to another planet your friend is on... next time you get on and you're by yourself you can just pick up where you left off on your own accord.

A massive amount of public events will be good as long as there is a lot of variety. As it is now in Defiance, many public events got a bit boring, mostly arkfalls. Once you've done all the different varieties of them, there was nothing new to it.. The siege events were much better, but were only available for a limited time.

I hope they adopt a thing SWTOR does with Heroic +2 and Heroic +4 missions. These were optional quests that you could not do by yourself because you couldn't defeat a single enemy by yourself. You'd get your ass handed to you everytime. The +2/4 indicated the minimum required players to have a chance at completing the mission. The reward for such missions include rare loot and a crap ton of XP compared to normal missions.

Thats an interesting way to do it. I like how Defiance does it to an extent.. In group events, the difficulty increases based upon the amount of players that are within the event's range. But for missions that require a specific amount of players to beat it, those are in the co-op menu.. while in game, choose the co-op mission and if you are not in a group, it'll put you into a queue waiting for other players that are going to play that same mission. It usually only take a minute or so and it warps you to the mission start point. Its a bit easier to do that then have the mission take up a physical location on the map and hope someone else is waiting there for other people to help out.

It will be interesting to see if Destiny actually violates MS rule about looking the same or worse on another system. Bungie has that pull, especially since they are revered by the Xbox customer base. MS cant afford to piss off its fans anymore by not having this game.

Seeing as Bungie was such a huge developer for microsoft, they probably know all the ins and outs of the xbox one and will be able to push that console to the max. I wouldn't be surprised if Destiny looks the same on Xbox One as it will on PS4. But then again.. with all the DLC extras for PS4, that should basically rule out the game for Xbox One... Just by comparing the pre-orders of the new consoles, MS is going to have to pull back on its policies just to make sure it doesn't alienate itself anymore. Seeing as Destiny will also be out for Xbox One, it looks like thats the case.

If Xbox pushes more developers to PS4 exclusivity, then they'll only be screwing themselves more.

Talking about maxing out a console's specs makes me think about Naughty Dog. Last of Us looks like a next gen game on the PS3. Naughty Dog hasn't announced any games for next gen that I know of, but if they work exclusively on PS4, expect some amazing games.

BTW, if Last of Us gets a PS4 upgraded version, I'll buy it. The game is so good that I'll buy it again just for extra options, upgraded graphics, etc.

I definitely think they're going to have to walk it back on there monopoly grab. Unlike PS3, Sony isn't walking into a blundering launch. They are firmly in the lead and full steam ahead. If the game can look better on PS4, I think it will. And I think timed exclusives that are suppose to favor Xbox, will actually serve as a nice loophole for Devs to release the X1 version first, and then optimize the PS4 version if it can look and/or run superior before its eventual release. Its not like MS can stop selling titles after the fact becasue they violate some stupid terms. They aren't in a position to threaten to not allow the next big release on their console.

If MS wouldn't have stripped Bungie of their intellectual property (halo) as the terms for letting them go 3rd party, I think things would be quite different right now as far as how Destiny is presented. There is some bitterness there and Sony is taking full advantage of it by providing whatever perks it can to the studio. What MS did to them is the equivalent of Santa Monica studios asking to be released from 1st party exclusivity, and after a bunch of stubborn red tape Sony takes all the rights to God of War and gives it to crappy 989 Studios as part of the agreement. What Acitivision did to Vince Zampella and Jason West of Infinity Ward is pretty similar, the Bungie split just didn't sour publicly because they were allowed to leave instead of quitting and making another studio.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
