New Details Emerge on the PS4

New details have emerged on Sony's next generation console. The console code named "Orbis" will have built in PS Move support, and a new controller to go along with it. While developers are reportedly using a hybrid six-axis/dual shock 3 controller with their dev kits, there is speculation that this new controller will use Vita's technology to implement a touch screen while retaining the iconic button set up. Aside from what can only be assumed to be inspiration from the Wii U, the controller is also rumored to have a RGB LED light and much improved motion detection technology.

The dev kit specs never exactly match the final console, but here is what developers are currently working with:

  • System Memory: 8GB
  • Video Memory: 2.2 GB
  • CPU: 4x Dual-Core AMD64 "Bulldozer" (so, 8x cores)
  • GPU: AMD R10xx
  • Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet
  • Drive: Blu-Ray
  • HDD: 160GB
  • Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 & 7.1 channels

Wow, the screen looks like a infrared node on an 80's TV remote. I hope they shape that thing up, Its hideous, I'll take the boomerang controller any day.

Dang.... I didn't notice that screen until now.... Once again I've lost interest on the PS4....

There is no excuse to have a controller that bulky when there are phones with touch screens as thin as they are on the  current market. The controller should only be wider between the joysticks. Hopefully we will see something different in 6 days.

I really hope this controller flops like the PS Move. Copying Nintendo doesn't guarantee Sony success. Just awkward failure.

When I heard the new controller would have a touch screen, I thought we'd see a merger of the PS Vita and a PS3 controller.. instead its a bulky ps3 controller..

http://kotaku.com/5984699/new-ps4-controller-image-raises-more-questions-about-whats-actually-in-the-controller

And I just saw this article:

http://kotaku.com/5984710/report-the-next-playstation-will-stream-ps3-games

wtf. So instead of downloading and installing games like with the PSN / PS3, the games will stream instead? If thats the case, they must have some powerful servers running games for streaming. I can only assume this will be Sony's way of eliminating used game sales. Seeing as you'll never have a copy of the game or even a downloaded DLC, then there will be no copying or selling a used disk. But if this is only for PS3 games to be played on the PS4, then this could also be their way of making everyone have to re-buy all their old games to get them to play on the new system.

Looks like the PS4 might be having its own version of xbox's kinect:

http://www.vgleaks.com/orbis-dual-camera-whats-this/

When we unveiled Orbis, an enigmatic device called “Dual Camera” was also listed within the info.

“Dual Camera” appears to be an evolutioned HD Eyetoy instead of a Kinect device, based on the features offered right now.

It contains a pair of wide-angle cameras. Each camera offers a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p).

Sound is processed by a 4 microphone array working at 48 Khz.

The device can perform some non gaming tasks such as:

- Recognize the user and log in the system

- Video chat

In the gaming field it supports head and hand tracking as new game inputs. Currently it’s not clear if this device will support body tracking in the future as Kinect but it’s almost sure that it will be bundled with every Orbis system.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
