I'm feeling a bit more optimistic for this game. I know quite a few ppl didn't care for the FFXIII games, but I thought they were pretty good even though the game was very streamlined. If they do the same to FF7 and stream line the content a bit more I'd actually prefer that in a sense. While I loved having full world freedom, I did miss quite a bit of content on my first couple play throughs of FFVII. With today's gamers, theres not many ppl that will replay a game a second time to get that extra bit of dialog or to see an extra cutscene they missed. Unless they are trophy hunters or they don't want to watch that 30 second scene on youtube.

The one thing they better not do with this game is break off the story and content into microtransactions. They did that with FFXIII games and that is bullshit imo. If the FF7 Ruby and Emerald fights aren't in the base game and get added as DLC after all the episodes or whatever is released I'll be pissed.

I forgot to say this.. I miss good turn based RPG games. Sure I could get some on steam but for years now they've still been made by big companies but only release them on hand held systems I don't own. With low budget indie games on the PSN store, I really want some of these RPG games released on the Vita or PSP to be playable and purchaseable for my PS4. I don't want to buy a PSP or Vita or DS, but I want these rpg games. The Playstation TV was basically a glorified PSP machine for the TV and it flopped. Nobody wants to keep buying extra hardware for games. These companies that release on hand helds should release on all the major consoles and PC too. They'd get much more sales than just limiting it to hand held systems. And even tho Nintendo loves to make gameboys with touch screens, dual screens, etc. to make the games unplayable on any other system. I've seen emulators for years that easily include the functionality and games with no need for extra hardware.

I actually own both a DSi XL and a 3DS XL and I bought them for Pokemon (yes I'm not ashamed to admit that I still play the franchise, it's still fun and a lot of the changes they've made over the years has made the game so much better). I grew up playing handhelds unlike a lot of our generation that had access to the original NES or the SNES growing up so I'm always going to support them because it's nostalgia for me (my first console was the PS1) and honestly some days I'd rather grab my handheld and play then turn on my PS4 or computer. The problem with taking games like Pokemon, Bravely Default, etc. and bringing them to the console is there is no call to do so. They sell extremely well on handhelds and gamers now-a-days are looking for flashy graphics and, as I mentioned above, more action based combat. Sprites and bad 3D modeling isn't going to cut it for a console game (and yes I realize Indie games do this all the time but Indie games aren't asking for $60 to purchase there game either). Most of the Turn-Based RPG generation moved to handhelds when it was apparent that they were going to get all the good RPG's. Honestly I can't even say that anymore because Steam is getting FFVI next week so you could even say the PC Master Race (yea I had to say it) are also getting all the good RPGs. Console based turn-based RPGs are a thing of the past sadly. We'll continue to see games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, the Elder Scrolls series, and FFXIII/XV from now on when it comes to console based RPGs. It pains me to see it and pains me even more to know I contributed to the stagnation of one of my beloved genres of gaming. Thankfully RTS's evolved with the times and actually got better.

Mr. Happy brings up quite a few good points in that video about this multi-part decision for the game. Was going to post it earlier but never did get a chance to.

The problem with the handheld games is that their graphics are getting better over time too. I know Nintendo is in no rush to compete graphically but eventually hand held systems will have enough processor power to give us flashy graphics and console style rpgs. How long do you think it will be before turn based games are completely negated even on hand held systems in favor of fps style rpgs? There is obviously still a huge fan base for turn based rpgs and I'm glad steam is finally getting them because if PC doesn't get these games then eventually they'll die out. :|

I don't think we'll have to worry about getting any FPS style RPGs on handhelds anytime soon. Why? Well Nintendo knows that they're making the bulk of their money off their handheld systems and while yes there are still adults that buy and play handheld games the market has always been marketed and targeted toward young children. Most children are going to want easy to understand mechanics when they play a game hence the reason why Pokemon is still such a simple game mechanically to this day. Even though the game has changed in many ways and added so much more to do the game at it's core it's still just catching pokemon and battling other trainers. Nintendo will never compromise this and that's why turn-based RPGs will still remain the way they are on the DS at least. Plus when you get down to it the 3DS is no where near as powerful as a Vita or a console and probably never will be (believe me when I tell you the graphics are pretty bad on it and cartoony as hell. The best graphics I've seen on the 3DS are N64 era games). Plus you also have to remember the DS systems are still cartridge based, they have yet to make the jump to optical yet so you're extremely limited to what you can do.

Vita is another thing entirely. That handheld is actually made for and marketed at the current generation and our generation. This will be the handheld that will probably see the death of turn-based RPGs because atm the graphics are on par with PS2 generation games and since the younger generation this is marketed at was the start of the ADHD generation you'll see more RPGs like FFXIII on it. Sony, while making good decisions with the PS4, has made nothing but terrible decisions when it comes to the handheld market. Look at the PSP. Not only did that handheld not sell well it wasn't even on the market that long before they pulled it to release the Vita (fuck, every generation of the Gameboy was on the market for at least 3-4 years before the next incarnation came out). While the Vita is doing well (and I would like to get one) Sony is going to need gimmicky games like fps style RPGs to even keep the system viable.

On the graphical thing look how long it's taken handhelds to get to where they are now. We saw massive jumps in what consoles could do in times frames of 5-6 years and we still do (though the current generation and past generation of consoles saw minor leaps due to the lack of time in between releases). Gameboy didn't even get to SNES generation graphics until the Advance which was the third generation for the handheld and 12 years after the original Gameboy released (1989 was the release of the original Gameboy, 2001 was the release of advance). The 3DS is the fifth generation for Nintedo's handheld line and we're still stuck at SNES/N64 style graphics with the ability to utilize 3D tech (which is honestly not all that great, I have the 3D aspect turned off on my 3DS because it hurts my eyes). By the time the DS sees Vita style graphics we'll either all be done gaming or we'll be playing VR games since that seems to be the direction Sony and Microsoft are going.

So long story short I don't see FFXIII style RPGs ever becoming a thing for the DS line of handhelds for probably another 5-10 years at the earliest (and even then I'm going to say 15 years because I don't think Nintendo will make the push until it's absolutely necessary) unless Nintendo rolls out another, more powerful handheld in the next few years. Vita on the other hand will if it already hasn't (I don't pay attention to Vita games since I don't own one and most of the games just don't interest me when I actually do). Turn-based RPGs will remain around for awhile yet and when they do die out we can still go on Steam and buy them all up as Steam gets ahold of them.

"This reimagined epic will be the next core Final Fantasy instalment--or rather, instalments," Game Informer's writer states. "When the project was first announced, people were confused by its multi-part nature, but the goal is to structure it more like Final Fantasy XIII than an episodic series."

Kitase adds: "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series. In XIII, each instalment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense."

"Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series... So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game."

This sounds much more promising now. Numerous full sized games of Final Fantasy VII...

My major problem with this approach is you know SE is going to charge you $60 a pop for each installment, that's a $120 investment if they keep the game a trilogy (which you better hope they do). That's a lot of money considering you can just dig your PS2 out of storage and play the original game (or boot up your Steam version if you own it). While I understand they're doing a lot of change to this game I just don't understand why they can't release it in one installment (considering BD storage capacity). Yea, more work but honestly if this is the next core installment of the FF series it's not like they have teams developing 16 then (if 16 will ever come to pass, the success of 15 pretty much determines the fate of that).

This is the reason I don't like companies remaking their old games unless it's just a graphical overhaul. SE is just trying to cash in on an established game because they've been making some extremely bad choices the last few years (the FFXIII series and the original FFXIV). It's the only explanation for a company that has refused to remake this title every time they were asked in the past. I hope for the sake of all you FFVII fans that they do right by you and give you an awesome game (you know the fans will crucify SE if they don't) because as I said before I won't be picking it up as the original wasn't the great game everyone bragged to me it was (for me, like I said the plot was meh and the characters were pretty bland (I do like Red and Vincent)). My only fear if this does do extremely well they'll go back and revisit other FF titles (I love IX to death and I highly doubt they'll remake it as most FF fans hate the game but I would hate to see a remake of it).

I have a feeling the game will sell really well. Depending on what they might change with the plot we might have to consider it an alternate universe FF7. Even if this isn't a complete remake I'd be happy with that. In fact I'd like to see some changes and be surprised with some plot twists to keep me engaged in the new experience. Instead of SE remaking other FF titles I'd rather see them make more FF7 sequels that takes place after the events of the original game and advent children.

That'll depend on the demand for another FFVII game. Crisis Core did well on the PSP but I think that mostly has to do with the fact that you got to play as Zach and learn more about the inner workings of the Soldier program (plus learning more about Seph before he went nuts was probably another selling point). DoC was complete shit by what I've heard. I never played it but most people I talked to say it was a complete waste of time and money. Advent Children was an interesting venture for SE, something they never did and it worked very well for them. Even I liked the movie even if I didn't like the source material. Fans are fickle and FF7 fans are the most fickle ones I know of. If they do this right, make minor changes to the story, keep the combat system engaging and easy to understand (since they're scrapping the original), and keep the characters as they were they'll probably have all the demand in the world for another group of sequels. While that's good for some that will mean less, more meaningful titles for other fans. As much as I know it'll never happen I want an old school FF to be made. I really am not a fan of these real-time battle systems and linear ass maps. I want an old school JRPG with an open world to explore and an engaging original story (which I don't have time to play but I'd like to see it come back), not another game sequel that uses an already established story to bring in more money (FFX-2 wasn't that great of a game and FFXIII-2 and 3 were complete garbage from what I've seen and heard).

I hate sequels and prequels that are exclusive to other game consoles or handheld systems than what the original game was released. SE did that with FF Crisis Core and all those endless Kingdom Hearts games that made me lose complete interest in the property. At least Kingdom Hearts is supposed to come to an end. Maybe with that property being put down SE will finally dedicate more time to new titles.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
