Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

DeathscytheX

Here is the trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. This will be the first COD game on the new 3 year developmental cycle. It will be the first entry done solely by the studio Sledgehammer who enters the fray along side Infinity Ward and Treyarch. While COD: Ghosts sold relatively well, it saw a 30% drop from Black Ops 2. Black Ops 2 came after what could be considered the worst game in the series (MW3) in which both IW and Sledgehammer had a part in. While Ghosts goes on a DLC gimmick frenzy containing Michael Myers and Predator in hopes of bolstering interest, time will tell what is causing the declining interest in Call of Duty. Between the fanbase there are some who are loyal to certain studios that produce the game. Ghosts lack of sales could have been due to a disdain of MW3 as Black Ops 2 still broke previous sales records. It could be another two years before we find out if the series as a whole is getting stale among hardcore player. Even if Advance Warfare fails to beat the previous year, it could be possible most are waiting on Black Ops 3.

This new entry is beyond what any COD has done by the looks of it. One can only see the subtle similarities to Titanfall. There may not be mechs and parkour, but super jumps, and climbing buildings without the need of ladders is certainly eyebrow raising. Then again the trailer is only for the solo campaign, and judgement should be reserved for the multiplayer reveal.

Considering how good Ghosts looked in trailers and then how bad the actual game was (I have friends who bought and absolutely hate Ghosts MP, some have said the SP is alright) I'm reserving all judgement until we see actual in-game footage and gameplay videos. Even if it does interest me I'll most likely still not buy it, I'm done giving Activision money for the same game with different skins.

I'm not a fan of this 3 studio thing, the market is already over saturated with FPS games and not to mention with COD games. Activision is literally shooting themselves in the foot with the COD every year motif they've been following. You don't give your fans time to invest in any game since the next one is just a year away. Doesn't give you enough time to enjoy the game you just bought. Plus quality is really starting to fall in COD games, I've watched live streams on Ghosts and I'm quite honestly far from impressed with the multiplayer. They all still follow the COD4 motif and do very little to distinguish the game from one of the best FPS games I've ever played (I'll always love COD4 but since MW2 I have lost all interest in playing COD, hell the first Black Ops was a disappointment for me).

This is why Battlefield does so well, not only is the game more solid in terms of gameplay but DICE doesn't release one every year also. Fans appreciate this as it gives them time to play the game, invest in the MP, and actually enjoy it until said time when the next one comes out. Plus lets face it, the multiplayer in BF is so much more fun.

I have to laugh when COD fanboys try to bash battlefield, and they do it for 2 reasons. The first is that they've never played it before, and the second is because they completely suck at it. Their 12 year old pride get the best of them because they cant go 40-3, and they don't find it fun. If you've never played a BF game before, you're gonna suck pretty hard the first time you jump in. (I'll never forget how bad I was in BF2) It takes time to develop skill, and the beautiful thing is that you create your own play style that suits you best to be successful. The game focuses on teamwork instead of running around gunning down everyone. You could have the least kills on the team and finish with the top score and most xp because you supported teammates and played the objective. Quickscoping yields a 20% success rate at best, you can't outgun someone with a DMR using an SMG from long range, and you have to account for bullet drop... a COD fanboy's nightmare.

COD and BF really aren't even comparable to me, but Titanfall is in that same category. Even with less game modes and less weapons, its a crap ton more fun than COD has ever been since COD4. After looking at an IGN article I see there is cloaking as well... I would say thats ripping off Titanfall... but its actually just ripping off Halo. lol

XD, when you're ripping off Halo you really have sunk to the bottom (don't get me wrong I have always liked the Halo series but that's just low).

The one thing I hate about BF is bullet drop. Yes I got spoiled in COD but I honestly cannot snipe in BF with that freaking bullet drop and that's the one thing I really love to do in FPS games. I just can't figure out how to judge my distance and aim appropriately (and yes I have practiced in the test range and I'm damn good in the test range, in actual gameplay I suck). That's my only complaint about BF and it's minor at best since I do love the DMR's (yea I don't get it either but I can snipe perfectly with a DMR) and LMG's.

The teamwork and various ways to gain xp are what make BF so enjoyable for me. I love that if all I want to do is drop ammo boxes, med kits, blow tanks up, or survey the land I can and I get credit for doing so. This is what cemented my love for Bad Company when I first played it (outside of the hilarious SP). I wasn't being stuck into specific roles, I could evolve to the situation and do what was best for my team (instead of being a corner camper and pissing off people (like DX :P)).

I honestly do hope this game does well, more so for Sledgehammer's own success. Development studios have been closing left and right and I'd really hate to see another one go especially for a shitty COD game.

After seeing what Respawn made free from the chains of COD, I would love to see an original product from Treyarch, but cod has to die for that to happen. They have to make these deadlines and never have time to make anything besides cod.

I can't wait to see what DICE does with Star Wars Battlefront.

COD will now have exoskeletons like in the movie Elysium.. Ok.. That could be cool, but aside from showing a bunch of stuff exploding, there was no reveal about what the actual plot of this game is. I'm guessing the USA invades another country? COD Advanced Warfare is being released on the all the old gen systems, so even though this trailer was from Xbox One, I'm guessing the multiplayer will be the exact same game again as Black Ops 2 and Ghosts. Same thing, new maps, some new weapons, still 6 vs. 6.. the only thing that could be different for the multiplayer this time is if they have wall climbing and large jumps. I'll pass on buying this game until I read reviews for the campaign, because I doubt I'll be interested in this multiplayer.

Battlefield 4 and Star Wars Battlefront will be my multiplayer games of choice. Nothing beats teamwork. I'd rather have teamwork over never ending TDM any day of the week.

Titanfall looks good from what I've seen of it, but they set themselves pretty high.. Titanfall 2 will have to be a better game, because if they release a sequel that is basically the same game again with 1 extra titan and different maps, they'll set themselves on the same course COD is on now.

The best advice I can give you is to spot an enemy so they get that little red triangle. Aim for the dead center of that triangle and take a shot, if you miss, then aim just a bit higher and keep repeating. Either snipe other snipers at long distance because they are usually prone and good targets, or aim towards a flag. You can aim directly at the flag, find out the distance the flag is from you, then hit the down d pad until you are zero'ed in. If the flag is 300 meters away, stay in that area, set you rifle to 300 and aim dead center at the enemy triangle for a headshot. Another tip.. you can scope in on a team mate and see how far away they are too, set your rifle for that distance and start shooting at enemies near that guy. ;)

Thats an interesting method. I usally see where the bullet hits and adjust elevation from there. Sniping someone on the move is satisfying but really difficult unless they are headed towards or away from you in a straight line. Hitting snipers and flag cappers is the way to go. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your bullet drop straight into a small puff of red when you score that headshot. lol

The best place to snipe is Hainan Resort. If you start on the Chinese side you just have to walk until you see the resort, prone and set your scope distance to 300 or 400. I cant remember which, but once you get the right one you should pop skulls camping the top of the resort with dead center crosshairs . I've gone 9-15 kills in a match without dying. You wont get much XP, but you'll do some damage to your sniper rifle progression. You just have to watch out for chopper/jet ditchers that get on top of that rusted ship... but if you keep an eye on that too you should take anyone out with ease becuase they are pretty exposed. I think the scope has to be set to 200 for that location.

I marked it on the map... I think. Its been a while.

This is a video of me sniping from that exact location:

And heres a video of me on the other side of the map killing someone sniping from that exact location with my SUAV. XD

I agree with DX, that location is definitely the best sniping spot. Aim for the rooftop for easy marksman ribbons.

Moving targets are much more challenging. Its all a matter of finding out where the bullet will intersect with the guy's head based on his speed.. lol. I've gotten used to it tho.

Aside from a 1,000 meter headshot, my most impressive shot IMO is this one at the 18 second mark.. I hit the guy while he was moving from 900+ meters away. :D

Check some of my other Sniping videos Strider.. You'll notice my pattern, I spot every enemy first, set my distance for the rifle at the bottom of the screen, and then aim at the triangle. If I miss, I'll aim up or down slightly based on how far away he is and what my rifle is set for. If the guy turns out to be 480 meters away, I set my rifle for 500 and aim just below the triangle. Always make sure the vertical line of the scope is always lined up with the middle of that triangle, or the bullet will almost never hit the target if its over 200+ meters away. Setting the distance on the rifle is the biggest improvement over Battlefield 3. In BF3 you had to aim inches above enemies heads and always adjust for the bullet drop. But with that range / distance setting, bullet drop is way easier to manage now.

I don't even climb up the hill anymore. If you stay next to the hill, you're only exposed from one side.

This one is my favorite. This clown kills me with an SMG and then stays there thinking I'm going to come back.

Here is me paying Sledge back after he ended up on the other team and knew my favorite nesting spot... he tried to dance, but to no avail. XD XD XD

Here is the power of the ACE-53 SV... that guy had to be pissed when it showed him what I killed him with. LOL

Now for what I'm really good at... Killing choppers with an RPG:

When I discovered chopper blades will detonate an RPG.

It didn't save in HD, but I dont feel like redoing it.

I quick joined this match and it was my first spawn... whattaknow?!

This guy failed so bad it made for an easy shot!

Sledge and I were trolling this guy that kept taking a jeep and rolling up to the same spot on the mountains of Golmud... before we lost I exacted some personal satisfaction XD

Woo... that was close... I rarely miss, but if you hang around, you're dead.

Funny how this COD thread turned into a BF4 thread XD

O.o I shall put these new tactics into practice tonight and see if I get any better at sniping (and if not go watch more of your vids). My problem is after 200 meters it's touch and go with me. Sometimes I line the shot perfectly and other times I fall a good 10-20 meters short and the target moves or another sniper picks me off. I think my major problem is I'm used to semi-auto snipers from COD, I'm not used to bolt-actions so the coming out of scope to chamber another round really throws me off.

Okay how did you get that kill in the first DMR vid DX, with a relex sight at that? I couldn't even see the guy and didn't know you got a kill till it popped up. If that's how good that gun is then I'll definitely be working extra hard on unlocking it. Yea, if I ever figure out how to fly a helo I'm definitely not flying one when I'm in a game with you on opposite teams. You're freaking deadly with a RPG and I do not want to be on the receiving end of one of your rockets XD

Once you unlock the straight pull bolt you don't have to unscope to chamber the next round. It's a life saver, but you have to give it up for the range finder temporarily. I like the range finder, but after using it a ton, I memorized the distances from all of my favorite spots and went back to straight pull.

Yes that's the reflex I believe. The quality of the video diminished on Facebook, but I could see him as a speck. I run the heavy barrel along with the angle grip to nullify the added recoil. The gun is a beast. You can see how little it's recoil is to begin with. No sniper stands a chance at mid range. its 2-3 body shots max to kill anyone. On Hainan I can stick around the resort grounds and pop people across the water at other flags. It has no rival. The ACOG on any DMR doesnt work too well for me. The sight feels overly affected by muzzle climb... the reflex and holo sights are better suited for DMRs IMO. The SKS is the fast track way to get to the ACE due to its good damage, ultra fast trigger pull, and limited recoil.

I'm about 6000 points away from the SKS so about a match or two and I should have it unlocked if I use DMR's exclusively the next time I get on. Hmmm I actually like the ACOG on the RFB, I'm a lot more accurate and can actually hit the target as opposed to the iron sights though I have noticed that muzzle climb does screw with the ACOG quite a bit,. I'll have to check out the Reflex once I unlock it for the RFB. Since they're similar to the aperture sights on WaW I should be able to dominate with a reflex on a DMR (I was godly with the SVT-40 with an attached aperture sight). Anything that makes me better is always a plus since about all I'm good at in BF4 currently is playing the ammo mule or the medic roles (both roles I like but they do get a little rough when playing on a wide open map like Gulf of Oman or Operation Firestorm (yes I play Second Assault a lot)).

The DMRs in this game are ridiculously accurate. I love using an RDS with them. Heres a clip of me using the RDS with the SKS, the distance for kills I can get with such a simple scope is nuts:

If you're using straight pull bolt, you have to get good at pressing R3 to hold your breath before taking a shot. I almost never use straight pull bolt or the range finder. I use Bipod and 14x variable are on all my sniper rifles. If I'm using an 8x scope, I can switch to 14x for a more accurate headshot, or if I have a 40x scope I switch to the 14x to find my targets / spot and then zoom in for the kill. The bipod makes every shot pixel perfect. Go prone, bipod, line up a shot on a guy, take the shot, unzoom for the scope animation and when you zoom back in you'll be lined up exactly where you were just aiming.. then aim slightly up or down to take the next shot. If he moves, follow him and aim at him again when he stops moving. If you're in a good spot and don't see any enemies, hit and hold the options button, hit R1 to the large map and watch it for a while.. watch the edges of the maps for a random red enemy triangle to pop up, that usually means its a sniper. Aim towards that location, spot him and take him out. If the guy is too far off, aim for the flags or go aggressive with the sniper rifle. ;)

A good way to get used to the bolt action is to get the timing down and dodge left or right during the animation. Don't move the R stick at all after firing.. Shoot, unzoom and immediately zoom back in.. this will make you zoom right back in after the animation.. while the animation is happening, strafe left or right, then immediately back to where you just where and when it zooms back in, you'll be aiming at what you were just shooting at for a follow up shot. When I do this, I usually dodge a shot and save my own ass in the process. This isn't the best example of my strafing but you can see how it still effective:

The range finder can be useful to figure out the distances on the maps until you get used to it or if you want to make sure that first shot is a kill. You can find the exact range of an enemy, if they are 170 away, get further back until you are exactly 200 away from the enemy, set your rifle to 200 and aim directly at their head for a perfect 1 hit kill.

Well I took some of the pointers you gave me out for a test run on Tuesday and Wednesday and while I still suck at sniping (imo) I was able to pull off my first 945 meter headshot (though it took me roughly 10 shots to finally zero in on the bastard). Was actually able to get more kills which made me happy. Have to say the place the middle crosshair over the spot triangle is genius, best tip ever. Plus now that I'm used to the animation I don't think I'll have to use the straight pull bolt now. I actually like the fact that as long as you don't touch the joystick for aiming that your rifle stays exactly where it was aimed with the bipod, helps lining up the next shot so much easier. All I need is a little more practice and I should be able to get to being as good as I was in COD (I hope).

I also have to say I just unlocked the F2000 for Assault and I absolutely adore that freaking gun, so easy to get kills by hip firing that it shouldn't be legal to use.

I'm glad sniping is working better for you now. Sniping on all other games seem so much easier once you get good doing it on battlefield.

I was trying so hard to get that damn F2000 a few months back. I still haven't gotten it. I kept coming up short for the assignment by 1 kill assist ribbon. I still think its ridiculous that the entire assignment misty be done in one round. Maybe now that there are rented servers I'll be able to get it on a max tickets metro only server.

Look for the BCV (Bad Company Vetrans) 24/7 Metro server. That's where I got my assignment done. The ticket counts (as of Wednesday) were upped to 3200 for both teams thus making it so much easier to get that damn assignment done. Before finding it I had the same problem, always coming up 1 Kill Assist ribbon short. Don't have that problem on this server as an average match (with the 3200 ticket count) lasts an hour. It's also good for ranking up since you can get a crap ton of experience playing on it. It fills up quickly and is only active at certain times of the day (it's usually pretty dead in the early hours of the day but full at night, sometimes it's hard to get into).

We should look for those battlefield friends guys, I think they all have ps4 accounts. Id love to be one of the guys they kill on one of their battleloggers episodes. XD

I remember on 300% tickets Gulf of Oman on BF3, matches would last 2+ hours. I'd get 80+ kills in a match XD

The QBZ-95-1 is one of the most stable assault rifles there is. I haven't done much with it since I got it because of  DMRs.... but I think its my favorite. I don't like the F2000 because of how fast it runs through mags. Its a killer for me until you are outnumbered. The SCAR-H was my favorite AR until I got the OBZ. I prefer the slower rate of fire and higher damage types.

I don't know why the F2000 is an assault rifle.. its like a powered up PDW. Just like the SR338 is a sniper rifle, but its really just a DMR with all the sniper rifle scopes.. which I forgot to mention to Strider.. if you can unlock that SR338, you'd probably like it for medium to low range sniping. Its a full semi-auto but the range for it is horrible for anything over 500 meters.

btw DX, was that incendiary grenade working good for your assault loadout? I don't think I've ever gotten a kill with it, it functioned more like a deterrent for me to keep people from walking down a hallway. The RGO impact and Mini grenades are my favorites.

Yes sir, hour long Metro matches. They get kind of boring considering its the same crap over and over since, just like normal Metro, you bottleneck at the same damn points. It gets really fun when you can push each other back and forth between the starting areas, makes for much more interesting combat.

I actually love the SCAR to death and was very hesitant to switch over to the F2000 but I don't think I'll be switching back anytime soon. I like the quicker fire rate and if you're good at burst firing it can get maybe 4 or 5 kills before the mag empties, good for those oh shit moments when 4 or 5 guys come around a corner. I'll most likely go back to the SCAR once the novelty of the F2000 wears off since I like to use the SCAR for mid-range sniping purposes when I'm playing medic instead of suicide under-barrel shotgun guy (I love that mounted shotgun to death).

Heh, don't get me started on Impact grenades. I love those things to death. I've gotten so many multikills with them in Metro it's not even funny. I've been meaning to ask about your guy's experience with Incendiary grenades, I've never used them since they seem so pointless based off of watching others use them. I've maybe been killed twice by them and only because I was in no position to run away from the impact area (it was either die by burning or die by 1000 bullets).

If you like the F2000, you'll like the P90 for Engineer. With a laser sight, it has a hip fire rating of 99. I don't even have to aim with the gun. Just turn around a corner and I can unload half a magazine into anyone with ease. That P90 is one of those end of the campaign choice assignments. It was a bit annoying replaying that last mission 3 times just to get all the guns unlocked.

The under barrel shotgun is alot of fun, but I love the M320 Smoke along with the defibs. I'll smoke a dead body, run in there and revive.. or I'll throw smoke in a couple locations when I'm running thru a partially open area for cover. I'll occasionally smoke a friendly tank to keep them from being locked on by a javelin. And if you direct hit someone with that smoke grenade its a one hit kill. Its so funny to kill someone with a smoke grenade and still get the smoke effect. Sometimes people wise up and start throwing grenades into my smoke the moment it appears.

I'm going to try using flash bangs to see how effective they are since they were buffed since the last time I used them. I've been killed twice because a flash bang disoriented me enough that an enemy got the drop on me. Its rather effective as long as you are catching an enemy completely by surprise.

The 3 weapons that seem the most pointless to me in BF4 are the Airburst smoke and the Airburst shotgun.. the smoke is so weak that I see no benefit in using it at all and the shotgun airburst seems weak. Even tho it can be rapid fired, I'm usually killed by someone before I get a second or third shot off with it. And the last thing is the flare hand grenade. It does nothing except burn. The only thing it could be useful for is to throw one on an enemy tank or on top of a building as a way to mark a target for destruction. But whenever I'm in an airplane or helicopter I never see them being used so I go after whatever I feel like destroying.

Btw, I love those mini grenades for my Recon class. Because they can be throw so far, its a great grenade to lob at mid range enemies that see me and start running towards me. It forces them to run off sideways or back up while I reload my next bullet.

Incendiary grenades are more tactical than lethal for me, even though I have scored quite a few kills with them. They are best for Locker and I'd imagine Metro. When you have a big group that is bottle necked into an area lobbing one in there is going to cause havoc. I always see hitmarkers going crazy and eventually I get a few kills. I also use them to flush people out of rooms. When I'm shooting at someone and they escape into a room, I lob one in the door in case they are hiding around the corner. It will finish them off or make them come back out. It isn't the best grenade, but I leave it on one class in case a CQC map comes up into the rotation.

Have you tried the Naval Strike TDM or Domination rounds yet? Two of those maps are the best CQC maps in the entire game. I run with claymores and c4 on those maps all the time. C4ing flags work great on those maps. XD

I'd love nothing more then to use the P90 but my fucking console reset my save data so I need to redo the first 5 stages again to get to where I was at before it happened. Been dreading going all the way back through it again so I'm holding off for now.

The hand flare is very effective in close quarters combat because the damn thing blinds you (not as well as a flash but it's still pretty effective). People love using the damn thing in Metro to blind you so they can suicide run into the area and hopefully get through. I've got more then a few deaths on my record attributed to being blinded my hand flares.

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
