I've found plenty of 100 star colonials on PS3 that dominate with guns. Almost all of them use assault rifles and I've noticed that they never switch their guns during games and appear to focus on just one gun, get the timing perfect and use that loadout almost exclusively. I think most of them on PS3 are TDM maniacs and quite a few are jet whores. I don't usually have a problem if theres only one on a team, but its so common now to see every team stacked with them because of server admins moving players in between matches. Aside from jet whores and TDM freaks, I've only come across maybe 2 truly skilled players that dominated completely.

 

Me and one of my brothers were playing conquest, we were off in some hills away from the flags and I was soflaming everything in the air while he took them out with a javelin... I was farther away from him and remotely controlling the soflam so we wouldn't both get knifed while we focused on the air.. then this guy comes flying over a hill in a scout helicopter, insanely low, we got him laser designated, javelin shot off.. he hit flares and survived the blast. As he was flying towards my soflam, he destroyed it with the helicopter gun, rammed my brother with the helicopter as he was landing, getting a road kill.. jumps out and starts repairing the helicopter.. thats when I brought my scope up on my L96 to snipe him.. only to see him quick scope me with a sniper rifle, get a head shot on me, then instant headshot my bro who had just respawned on me, and then went back to repairing, then flew off and started killing more people.. It took me a minute to realize that he was playing as recon the entire time.. he rammed and killed my bro who was an engineer, picked up his kit to repair, re-picked up his recon kit to snipe us both and then picked up the repair torch again.. the guy was an expert and reminded me of those 100 star colonials in the BFF cartoons. O_O

Well, if you would have had me on your squad. I would have either RPG'ed his low flying ass, or if he got out of the chopper after I missed I would have dropped a C4 and detonated it killing us both, XD.... then I would get booted from the server.. XD I'll be the wild card crazy man that plays with load outs that normal skilled players would scratch their heads at. LOL. I tend to set up my load outs to stop people like that and those that kill me in ways that annoy the crap out of me, even if it means killing myself. My KD is crap because of this sole reason, but it brings me happiness to wreck someone elses KD that takes way to much pride in it.

 

Outside of the M416, I wasn't too fond of many ARs. I liked SMGs for recon and engineer, and the LMGs for Support. The QBB-95 was a beast, it was an assault rifle with an LMG mag. As engineer i loved the ACW-R, UMP, AKs 74u, and the SG553, which was insanely overpowered.

Once I start playing BF4, I'll probably focus more on Engineer and Recon.. now that recon will have c4 and claymores, it'll be a much more useful class.

 

I like having fun, if I'm getting my ass handed to me for some reason, I'll switch my entire play style. I'll go from sniping and MAVing an area to Assault and play medic. I really like the m320 smoke. Almost nobody uses it, but I'll smoke a corpse near me, run in, get the revive and run back out. Its funny how people react to things, If I see some people hiding behind cover, I'll launch a smoke grenade at them and sit back.. they assume someone on my team is about to run up and knife them, but nobody is coming for them.. they freak out and rush to get out of the smoke.. then I pick them off as they emerge from the cloud. XD

 

Its like all the EOD Bot kills I get.. I should be getting assists with it more frequently.. If you drive that bot through some areas, people will run out from cover just to destroy that damn bot. lmao. I tell everyone to follow my bot because everyone takes a shot at it. XD And because of that one assignment for destroying enemy equipment with a grenade, people will stupidly lob grenades at it while I drive thru an area. Because people will take shots at it, I can usually see them standing out in the open as I drive in slight banking left and right pattern while I easily close the distance and torch their feet for the kill. XD

 

I look at the assignments and use them against people. If theres a new assignment for c4 vehicle destroys, I will drive that tank right into a suburban area with reactive armor on, have a buddy in the gunner seat with proximity scan, and with me using canister shell we can usually sit back and pick off all these idiots running up to suicide themselves. Once one of those assignments are on, so many ppl stop RPGing.. everyone is running support with C4. Easy pickings. :P

This reminds me of MW2 Demolition. Some idiots would throw a smoke grenade on the bomb site automatically indicating they were going in to plant or disarm the bomb. All you had to do was circle around the bomb and lay into the knife button and you'd kill them everytime XD I never understood why people would do this.

Hahaha.. Thats why whenever I see someone else blast an area with smoke, I'll throw a grenade in there immediately. XD Some people have smartened up and I've been killed by grenades a few times.. but so many people will react completely surprised and run.. Another thing I love to do is throw a grenade on a dead enemy. As soon as I kill someone I'll throw a grenade right on them to make sure they don't get revived and if someone is rushing in to get squad revives for that combat medic assignment, boom! Double kill. :D

The reminds me how insanely long it takes people to catch on to my C4 traps on rush bomb sites. I can literally play a few matches on a server before the people that stuck around toss a grenade into the area around the bomb to destroy my C4. :P. Since I started C4 traps back in the day on BF2, and had 3 gold stars with TNT on BFBC2 Vietnam... I wonder how much I contributed into starting this trend, and how much am I responsible for the "no c4 on bomb sites or flags" servers. XD

lol. I'm still used to shooting an m320 or a grenade at an MCOM before moving in. Especially on CQ Domination matches.. everyone lobs grenades at the flags because of the C4. When I see "No C4 on flags", me and my brother would put claymores on the flag instead. XD

Defuse doesn't sound like a game mode I'll play too often.. I'm surprised to see the player count for all the different game modes. I've been so used to the console version of BF3, that its rather surprising to see that conquest is the only game mode with a maxed out player count of 64.

Conquest was the only game mode originally. The whole map is open so it makes since. 64 players on rush wouldn't work because the map starts out so small, the attackers would lose 90% of the time getting base raped. While on that subject, It wasn't really until bad company where you couldnt actually go to the other teams base. Back in BF2 there were servers that had the "no base camping" rules. I use to go to the other teams base and put AT mines on all the tank spawns. The tanks would spawn on the mine, and as soon as someone entered and moved an inch, the tank blew up and they died. XD... yeah its probably for the better that you cant do that anymore. :P

Whenever I play Wake Island, I'll drop mines right in front of all land vehicle spawns. Before they patched the vehicle kill glitch, I'd get inside the mobile aa and all my land mine kills would count as Mobile AA kills. It was so easy to level up that way. :P

 

Its crazy to think that people could camp in the other team's base. The amount of base raping must have been rampant. O_O

Well back then there were not recon beacon or tac insert. So you had to be dedicated to try to make your way to the base. Ditching a chopper over the base or trekking by foot were your only options, jeeps and tanks would most likely be destroyed before you could reach the other base. I was just getting into online FPS back then and I was terrible... very bad. I was lucky to get one kill with a gun in a whole match. So I had nothing better to do than walk to the other base along the outskirts of the map. Today, I def would not have the patience for that. lol

HVT seems to be pretty balanced, but everyone is going to be a prick and mutiny the commander so they can try it when the game comes out. I wont even attempt it. Commanders will only last through their grace periods kinda like everyone died on purpose and waited for the AC130 to spawn on BF3 when that DLC first came out.

Commanders will only last through their grace periods kinda like everyone died on purpose and waited for the AC130 to spawn on BF3 when that DLC first came out.

 

I'm glad commander mode can be accessed through the console.. whenever I was looking up info about it, it sounded like a tablet only feature and it would have been stupid. Now I'm more interested in it.. not necessarily for the benefit to the team but more for learning the map. It should be very helpful for finding sniper locations and choke points.

The beta is not impressive for PS3 in the slightest. If not for the fact that I'll get a PS4 to play this game on with 64 players, I wouldn't buy this game for PS3. Its basically BF3 with new maps. Based off this beta version, I'm not seeing the destruction shown in the videos I've seen online, the button layouts have been noticeably changed for vehicles and I cannot get the same custom button configuration that I use for BF3. Spotting people is easy with R2, but now the select button brings up a crappy battlelog menu with a friends list that serves no purpose in the middle of a battle... and the maps on PS3 are too large for the amount of players. This must be an early beta version because this is drastically lacking compared to the videos I've seen.

 

RPGs are much easier to hit with. The bullet drop for them is much less than in BF3. The support's airburst gun seems interesting but I can't seem to hit anything with it. Recon now has C4 which is nice and I got a couple good kills with it. But after dropping 2 C4s and exploding 3 guys, there was no damage to the structure of the top floor of the building I was on. I randomly RPG'd some buildings and I only saw scorch marks. Bullet drop on jeeps needs to be adjusted because I was taken out easily by a jeep cannon from some large distance and I had a large height advantage. I only played 2 1/2 rounds. I'll get back on there later tomorrow to get a better feel for it.

 

Also, the game looks graphically better than BF3 on PS3, but at the same time it doesn't because the high details just aren't there. This is definitely a next gen and PC game. I wouldn't bother getting this on PS3 or Xbox 360 just based off these 2 rounds.

Hmm, I'm hoping on PS4 that shooting and ADS is swapped to R2 L2 or at least its an option to swap it. WTF did battlelog take the place off? Knife or Grenades? and what button does that now?

Thats how the default buttons are for PS4 will be because the shoulder buttons on PS4 will be xbox 360 styled:

On PS3, the ADS is L1 and fire is R1 like on BF3, grenade is still L2, but knife has been swapped from R2 to Right analog stick and prone is circle like in CoD. I was able to change the layout from default to veteran which swaps the knife and prone buttons. I'd rather have knife back to R2. Spotting used to be the select button, but now its R2.. I'm so used to spotting with select that I kept hitting it and bringing up the battlelog menu. Whats really annoying is the vehicle controls. Only the default setup has fire on R1.. all other preset button layouts requires the fire button to be one of the L buttons. wtf. The default vehicle controls now has accelerate as the left analog stick.. I'd rather the accelerate and reverse buttons dedicated to their own buttons, but doing that results in the fire button being L1.. and there is no customization to change it. I'll have to get used to the default layout.

Ugh I hate stick stab, I always used the tactical button layout in COD because stick prone is just natural. Stab was B.  Now naturally when i played BF for a long time and went back to COD, Id toss a grenade when I tried to stab, or vice versa I would sling my knife when i tried to toss a grenade in BF. :P

 

 

Lighting is everything on next gen.

I got in a few more rounds tonight because my brother got on. I didn't see any way to invite anyone, but we were able to join into each others matches and the game auto-balanced the teams after the match to get us on the same team, which was a nice improvement.

 

I was piloting a helicopter and the lighting effects were blinding. The higher I got the worse the blinding light would get. The left analog stick controls for altitude threw me off at first, but I'm realizing that it seemed more responsive.. I kinda liked that.

 

Domination game mode is where this beta shines. Very faced paced, good action and great combat. It was like Close Quarters but better. Conquest though is a pain, far too big of maps for these limited amount of players. Almost all action is focused on 1 or 2 flags while the third is completely abandoned and unless you spawn on a team mate, spawning at the base requires a noticeable foot work or driving to get to any action.

 

Once you have control of a flag, you can choose that flag as a spawn location and then use the right analog stick to choose which vehicle at that flag to spawn on.

 

Honestly tho.. if this was just for PS3, I wouldn't buy it. It reminds me of how call of duty makes a new game, but it looks basically the same as the old one with a few more features. I'm not interested in that. I'll get this for PS4 because I can get 64 player matches and highly improved graphics over what I've played on the consoles.. but for PC players, I wonder if the improvements are big enough over BF3 to drop more money for another graphics card and another full price game.

It sounds like DICE took a dump on this gen just for extra dough and put their money on next gen... COD seems to place their bets on people that aren't early adopters and ported Ghosts for next gen. 64 player big maps are so much better.

I honestly don't see why they are even releasing this game on PS3 and Xbox 360. I can only assume that its a largely downgraded version of what I'll see on PS4 and this beta is not really impressing me. However, after seeing this, I'll be able to compare it to the PS4 version once I eventually get my hands on it.

      I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
      We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

      Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

      FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

      This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
