Battlefield 4 Phanton Prospect Assignment & Megalodon?

Sledgstone

There is a mysterious assignment on Battlefield 4 called "Phantom Prospect" which leads to speculation about a possible Megalodon easter egg on Paracel Storm. I unlocked this assignment tonight, but I haven't seen any Megalodons or dinosaurs yet. Thanks to jackfrags for this video.

I'm glad the stinger works the same.. but it still looks like it has too big of range. I always had far more kills with the IGLA than the stinger because of the reticule allowing an easier lockon IMO. Now that it will require a constant lock on, it should allow helicopters a better chance at being able to break the lock. Its a shame they didn't show how the air launchers work against jets though. Damn jets better not be able to just outrun them constantly. Jet experts on the PS3 annoy the living hell out of me because they can never get shot down by the soldiers on the ground.

Another video. Not really article worthy since its mostly been covered before. But Seeing Caspian Border's antenna fall makes me wonder if this is where the idea of "levolution" came from, obviously it doesn't really change the dynamic of the map much, but I wonder if levolution events will be added to the other 3 BF3 maps in the classic map pack that will later be released.

Honestly I hope Wake Island doesnt make the cut for the 23432th time. That map is in every BF game, and its really not that great. Gulf of Oman is the only old school map I'd like to see back.

FuShe Pass wouldn't be a bad choice either

I was thinking about that Caspian Border antenna also, it could be considered their first levolution.

I liked Wake Island and spent a lot of time on that map.. mostly because of the vehicles available on it, tanks, attack helicopters and mobile aa. If the Mobile AA was available on any other map for the PS3 version other than on one other map only on rush mode and only while defending, I probably wouldn't have played it so much. Once Armored Kill came out and the Mobile AA was finally on more maps, I hardly played Wake Island anymore.

I noticed the vehicles can now get paint jobs.. I like that but at the same time I don't. I guess it'll help distinguish people tho. Hey, what tank are you in? The blue one!

I should schedule that friday off just to play the beta all day on PS3. I'm pretty certain I can get it on Oct 1st, but I'm going to assume there will be a PSN store update problem and the game wont even roll out until 7pm and then it'll have to download overnight, then connection issues.. I figure by friday the beta will be in full swing... Now I just need to prepare and clear off about 10gb or so off my ps3 for that download.

Hopefully that's cleared up on PS4. On 360 I downloaded the beta and played it immediately. Even with PS+ being paid, It will still take them a year or so to catch up IMO. They don't have the same funds starting up that Xbox 360 did from Xbox for their online service going in.

I'm thinking it was a PS3 issue. Some games seem to download fast based on my internet connection, but some games are ridiculously slow to download. Last of Us was probably the slowest digital download I've ever experienced. I don't know if its because the game was downloading from the Naughty Dog servers, maybe that was the problem. Most games download fully off PSN and then install, but there are some games that download a small install file, turn on and then download through the game.. like DC Universe, Defiance and Last of Us to name a few. I don't know if those games were downloading from their own servers or not.. but I hope they learned something from the Last of Us download bull crap.. I had to leave that game running almost 2 nights straight to finish downloading it. I'd have set it to download in the background but it would only download if the game was running. One nice thing was after it hit a certain percentage I could play the game while having it continue downloading in the background.

The biggest problem with PSN is probably their store.. There has never been a consistent timely update. When they have games available digital on the day of release, people expect to get their pre-ordered game at midnight.. but no.. they don't get the store update done until 7 or 8pm sometimes. People could just go to the store, buy the game and beat it by the time the store updated.

I'm going to assume they have a much better infrastructure in place for the PS4, especially considering all their claims about their Gaikai tech. That and since Sony is estimating 5 million units sold by the end of the year, they'll be experiencing a higher volume of constant users than Steam during a weekend.

Did you ever play MGS4? The install from the disc was horrible. You had to sit there and watch Snake smoke for 30 minutes. XD

It seems like they fixed this years later however.

I still haven't had a chance to play MGS4.. lmao, that is horrible. XD At least they gave everyone some health warnings. XD

That reminded me of the Harold and Kumar dvd menu.. it was the only pointless screen I ever watched on purpose. It wasn't even loading anything, it was just the menu, but I went to get something to drink and I heard them b*tching on the menu and I kept watching.

Found it!

Games should have install screens that are entertaining like this. XD

You definitely need to play it, its probably my favorite MGS since MGS1. Although this game doubles as a movie. A lot of the cut scenes are 30min to an hour, they do have some alternate view angles at times. The best part about them however, is you can pause them. I remember the first time i pressed start because I was pressed for time and it paused instead of skipping the whole thing I was relieved. It was my first play through and I was pissed I was having to skip it only to find out I didn't have to skip it. :P

I hate that! Lmao! I've held off on using the bathroom on so many occasions while a cut scene is playing just to find out I could have paused it at any time. XD

Meryl is back in the game? I'll have to play this. I'll look for it on amazon.

Oh.. and seeing as this is a battlefield topic.. (so off topic now, lol).. I played some BF3 tonight to get myself ready for the BF4 beta.. I got 4 more kills with my EOD Bot. I'm at 26 kills with it now.. I might just go for a service star with it. XD

I'm sure the DLC will have new assignments. I just hope there is never a Gun Master assignment ever again. I can deal with EOD bot, but the Gun Master was way to stressful, I really dont want to go through that again. lol

I've played the hell out of BF3 and I've only played Gun Master maybe 20 times and only because it was in a map rotation. I try to avoid it at all costs. I like the Close Quarters maps, but because of the limited number of players for those maps, theres hardly any servers for them and when there are, gun master likes to rear its ugly head. -_-;

Hmm Hopefully there will be more players. On 360 I always found a Zebra Tower 24/7 300% Ticket Conquest Domination, or a rotation with CQD only. Odd that Gun Master would be in the mix. I came in 2nd on Gun Master on scrapmetal. My arm was swinging the knife for the winning kill when the screen cut to the final results. lol That was the one and only time i finished that high. I'd always get 6th place which aggravated me to no end since you had to finish top 5 for the assignment.

I think I said it wrong.. its limited players / server renters that put the CQ maps into rotation.. I'll always find a zeba tower 24/7 and a few others, but most servers are always full.. especially the official EA servers. I'll usually find maybe 1 or 2 pages of joinable servers.. nothing compared to searching for original maps on conquest.. I'll get 30 pages of servers to jump into easily. The biggest problem I have with the CQ maps is all the hundred star colonials. Hardcore no life bastards running CQ servers.. and of course the guy running the server has all of them on the same team.. I either have to go into a que on an EA server and wait 5+ mins to get started into a game, or join a server with a bunch of level 6 guys versus a team of colonials that know exactly where everyone will spawn. -_-;

Yeah finding a server that wasn't full was a bit troublesome. I put a few on my favorites list because most of the non EA servers were douchebags that had a big list of rules that mostly had "No Shotguns", but a lot of times no RPGs, C4, or the shotgun attachment for ARs. I'd generally get banned from servers like that on purpose because because I felt like they were wimps. I'd join and run around with the Spas-12 and get squad wipe pins until I was booted XD.

I hope EA does a better job of populating more of their servers. I only play on no limit servers, because even if you are following the rules on a "No (insert weapon/equipment)" if you're too good, or you knife the 100 star colonel, you'll get booted. I've found very few 100 star guys to be beasts gun to gun. Most of those guys got their rank from tank and jet whoring.

Although its also on the PS4, I purchased Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for the Switch recently because it's just been collecting dust. It was probably the better option anyways because the graphics look like something out of the N64/PS2 era with modern draw rates. Not a knock against it, as its quite charming... but the game looks like it belongs on the Switch rather than PS4. Everything about this game is so 1998. I've never played any of the Ys games before, but this one caught my eye for the old school hack and slash. It's very Dark Cloud-ish minus the world building. Sprinkle some old Zelda in there as well. The combat is relatively simple with 1 button main attack, and 4 special attacks that consist of holding R1 and pressing A B Y X. These use a SP meter that replenishes on kills. There are also dodge and block counters that give you a special speed combo ability. You have a party of 3, and characters that join where you can swap them out and swap between the three in combat. Each character has a assigned damage type (Slash, Precise, Bash). Having all 3 types helps weaken the right enemies susceptible to these plus you get a rare drop bonus... rather than the 1.1x bonus for having two of the same. Anyways, the story is campy but interesting, the dialogue is 90's cringeworthy, and its a lazy sprinkle of actual voice acting and text reading. The world is  large but a bunch of sectioned off instances that quickly load without a loading screen as you cross them. There are fast travel points but not in every sector, so it requires some old school memorizing where to go at times. As you get special gear, you'll find places that were inaccessible previously open up. I'm 20 hours in and I don't feel like I'm even half way through. So at $60, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth for a decent nostalgia kick. I bet this will be a free PS Plus game next year so when it comes up I highly recommend it without even finish it. I'll report back when I beat it with a proper review.

Its been quite the stressful couple weeks. Lady had her surgery and is having a very slow recovery process. My bank required specific repairs to the garage to approve the mortgage and instead of paying a massive price to a contractor me and my friend spent 2 days this last weekend busting our asses in 90 degree days with 90% humidity and full sun working on the garage. Thats all done and accepted now.. Yay. Getting into the final stretch here with the house. Hopefully I'll be moving by the end of the month. I might actually have free time this weekend... finally. *knocks on wood*

The first two eps of AoT season 3 are better than season 2 in its entirety.

Originally I wasn't going to say anything until I actually finished watching the series (which should be Monday or Tuesday night) but you were right DX, The Ancient Magus' bride is spectacular and I say this after only watching 15 episodes.
I have to say it's up there with Violet Evergarden for both visuals and story (and it's been awhile since I've seen a show that has completely drawn me in to the point that I sacrifice sleep just to watch another episode). I honestly didn't think the premise would suck me in this much but I'm glad it did (and both episodes with Nevin were extremely well done (I shed some manly tears they were so emotionally impacting)).
I honestly have to say this is probably going down as one of my favorites shows from the last few years (which isn't really hard considering my problems with the last few seasons), only taking second to the masterpiece that was Violet Evergarden. I can't recommend this show enough for those who want a story driven show focused on character development and world building (I'm just sad I only have 8 episodes and 3 OVA's left, really hope this gets another season once the manga gets further along).

This simuldub season is pretty meh compared to last. If it wasn't for the fact that MHA and out of all things; Black Clover was still running. I'd be hard pressed to keep up. Ep 1 of Overlord season 3 felt like a waste of time, but the second one made things pretty interesting. Angels of Death seems kind of bland so far. How not to Summon a Demon Lord is a typical fanservice trapped in a video game world show. Same goes for The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar. Lord of Vermilion feels like a better Tokyo Majin.. which isn't saying much. Hopefully it will be something better. Harukana Receive is bouncy bikini beach volley ball, but Haruka is a total best girl, so I'll shamelessly enjoy it. On the opposite end, I'll skip Free! because I'm not watching a bunch of dudes swim, and I'm already watching HR and Hanebado... an anime about freakin Badminton. With Dies Irae and AoT not staring until later in the month that leaves three unlikely contenders for a surprise best in season for me, that isn't Overlord or AoT which I already expect to be solid at worst.
Magical Girl Raising Project is apparently a dark ass violent series with cute moe magic girls. A total clash of genres. The first two eps only have brief hints at it so far, its mostly just cutesy. But if it turns out like I think it has the potential too. It should be pretty interesting.
Chio's School Road is a "school" anime thats about Chio's walk to school every day, instead of the actual school day. The absolute absurd happens apparently every time. The first three eps have been pretty hysterical so far. Its different, so I like it.
Island is a pretty big mystery to me as to what its suppose to be about. It has my interest to see how it unfolds. It can honestly go either way. I guess I'll be reviewing these at the end of the season and we'll see how my opinions have changed since this status update.
